Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.
Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album.

Taj and Bonnie define the term ENERGY, and their respective bands added fuel to the fire!
Bonnie Raitt promised our monies worth and that's what we got. Three hours of electrifying music from Taj Mahal and then Bonnie Raitt and then they both combined to get the place rocking. Hardly anyone could sit still in their seats as the rhythm had everyone dancing in their seats and in the end everyone was up dancing in the aisles. Truely an unforgetable experience.
Having seen both Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal multiple times and having thoroughly enjoyed each one, I vote this concert in Prospect Park as the best of them all. The open air setting, perfect weather, and stellar performance (with many great jointly performed songs) was just amazing. Ten encores later fans still wished it would go on all night!
Excellent concert, with strong individual sets from Taj Mahal and Bonnie Raitt. Both sported terrific bands. But the place really cooked during the final half-dozen songs, when both performers and bands joined forces and dueled each other to be more melodic, R & B-ish and funky. Bonnie was wry and warmly responsive to the enthusiastic crowd.
Bonnie Raitt was her amazing self, she had the audience spellbound, particularly during "Angel from Montgomery." Could have heard a pin drop during that one, an especially amazing feat considering the size and general atmosphere of the crowd.
Like the title says I will always love love Bonnie for her soulfulness. The span of her career has her reaching legend status. I brought my daughter and she was impressed with both Bonnie ("she looks younger than I thought!") and Taj. Great concert. One criticism - parking was very difficult at this event.
Off Da Hook. I loved the show and the venue. We need more shows like this.
If you have not had the opportunity to see the BonTaj Roulet show, you owe it to yourself to see these exceptional musicians while they are touring together! Both legendary Blues Musicians in their own right, Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal are a force to be reckoned with when playing off of each other's considerable talents. Taj warmed up the crowd with a set of blues and world rhythms. His soaring vocals and a few duets with his daughter brought the crowd to it's feet. Bonnie's searing guitar work and heart wrenching vocals gave the audience more than they had hoped for and the finale, which included all of the members of both bands, was a joyous celebration of all of the musical influences that these legendary performers have come to love over the course of their careers. If you want something to feel good about, don't miss this exceptional experience!
Bonnie Raitt was in great voice. She sang and played with lots of emotion. Her band is one of the best in the business. It was very good to finally get to see and hear Taj Mahal in person. Together they were even more exciting. The only complaint I had with the evening was NOT with the artists. I only wish we were told to bring our own seating. We're New Yorkers and will always make do. The evening would have been perfect if we knew to bring our chairs. We STILL had a great time. The forecast for the evening was for showers. It didn't rain a drop!
Awesome concert! She played a lot of old stuff. She hasn't aged a bit.
I wasn't familiar with Taj Mahal before. Really went to see Bonnie Raitt, but was so happily surprised with the whole show. Fortunately, the weather held up too. Taj is incredible; can't believe I hadn't heard him before. Bonnie was her usual superb self, she has such a fabulous rapore with the audience. I got a little scared when her set seemed so short, but then they both jammed for what seemed like another whole show. I was also thrilled that this was a benefit show; so I paid more than I wanted to pay, but got every penny's worth & more. Only disppointment was both artists requested no picture taking.
Two great blues and roots music voices echoed around Prospect Park's bandshell. Both Taj and Bonnie were clearly stoked to be singing and playing on the same bill. Great sets from each individually and warm, friendly interplay between them and their bands on the "together" songs.
Having been a fan of Taj since the 60's and Bonnie since the 70's, this was a match made in heaven, and it did not disappoint. Taj opened with his funky blues that made it impossible (for me) not to move. For the first time in years I jumped up and danced in the aisles. When Bonnie's set came up, I was thrilled that she and Taj did a couple of songs together. The audience was hers, but anyone could see the chemistry between them. Then, instead of an encore at the end, they did a whole set together and brought the house down.
While both performances were good, Bonnie & Taj playing together was excellent!
Taj Mahal was really great. We danced all night! Bonnie never fails - Her voice velvety as ever Just wished she could have sang all night. Heard a few oldies that we haven't heard in years Prospect park is a fabulous venue! Hope to see you again next year!
People were dancing in the aisles and anywhere they could stand. Taj is legendary and to see him working it with his protege BR was truly a sight. The two created an amazing energy together that everyone would be blessed to experience for a night. Both solo sets and the combind performances were off the hook!
It was a faboulous concert with both Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal giving stella performances. The Celebrate Brooklyn prospect park venue is a lovely place to see a show. The Chemistry between both performers was obvious.
I loved that they shared the stage for most of the show. Great energy and stage banter.
I THOUGHT TAJ WAS GOOD HIS BAND WAS TIGHT AND THE TEXACALI HORNS WERE GREAT.BONNIE WAS FANTASTIC HER VOICE WAS AWESOME AND SHE CAN PLAY SLIDE WITH THE BEST OF THEM.I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HERE A FEW MORE SONGS OF HER OLD STUFF BUT MUSCIANS MUST MOVE ON.OVERALL WE WERE DANCIN IN THE ISLES.
Haven't seen Bonnie Raitt or Taj Mahal in 30 years. She is a solid professional with one of the singular voices of our era. Extraordinarily polished band. Taj Mahal does too much mugging and forced silliness for my taste, but when he settled down and just sang a medly of rarer blues/R&B/roots Carib music he was a solid performer. The other side of the polish was that there were no real peaks of excitement on the uptempo stuff. Great R&B ought to be a little like a runaway train. This train was imovably on the tracks. The quiet ballads were extraordinary and a reminder of why Bonnie Raitt is Bonnie Raitt.
