About

Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.

Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album.

  • Bon Taj was awesome

by TrixR4kids on 9/4/09McMenamins Historic Edgefield Manor - TroutdaleRating: 5 out of 5

The concert grew in intensive and depth of performance as well as the synergy between Bonnie and Taj as the evening went on. Appeared everyone on stage was having a fun time playing/collaborating which caused the audience to come alive.

  • Bonnie Rocks!!!

by Elinor on 9/4/09McMenamins Historic Edgefield Manor - TroutdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing....as usual. I never miss a BR concert and Taj was a great partner for an evening of groovin'. Love the venue at Edgefield, too.

  • Bon Taj Roulet is a fun way to spend the evening!

Bonnie Rait is a professional who works hard at creating music fun for everyone attending... Taj Mahal adds even more depth to what Bonnie does. Bonnie and Taj satisfied everyone with a great mix of tunes, old and new.... The concert lasted longer than most people expected so the crowd got an experience that left them all smiling.... I'd love to see them together again....

  • Bonnie Raitt & Taj Mahal

by LLebowsky on 9/4/09McMenamins Historic Edgefield Manor - TroutdaleRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was fantastic. They are both great musicians. I thought Bonnie was fantastic. She's a combination of Mae West and Muddy Waters. Love her! The Troutdale police did a great job of getting people in and out of the event. Hats off to them! We had a great dinner at Edgefield before the event. The Black Rabbit Red Wine is great and is only $5 a glass. And Edgefield manor and the grounds around there are both lovely.

  • Fantastic!

Great show! Taj Mahal and Bonnie Raitt put on great shows but together they were fantastic! Best show I have seen in awhile.

What a great show. Weather was a bit chilly, but we had some good company and the music and show was spectacular. Bonnie and Taj are playing at Telluride blues and Brews. Gp wee them for sure.

  • Bonnie and Taj were hot!!

by mamagag on 9/2/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I both agreed that this was probably the best performance we had seen by Bonnie. Her voice just keeps getting better and better, and she seemed to focus on her guitar playing a lot more than usual. Her slide guitar playing was awesome, and she looked like she was having a great time. I love the way that she always makes the audience feel important, and that she is truly happy that you are there. Taj of course was great too!! His energy if infectious, and he got the whole place on it's feet!! I loved when they played together and brought both bands out. They have such a good energy between them. I especially liked when they sat down and played acoustic together. Very cool!!

  • The synergy between Bonnie and Taj was amazing!

I'd never heard Taj Mahal and wasn't sure if I'd like his music, but it was the best! I can certainly see how Bonnie Raitt would be so inspired by him. The music made you feel like swaying and dancing. Even Bonnie Raitt said it felt almost like being in a "Club" setting. Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal complemented each other beautifully when they played together and were definitely more than the sum of their parts.

  • Bonnie Rocks again

    by RedRocksFan234 on 9/2/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

Bonnie was playing Red Rocks for the 22nd time and she killed it. Playing with Taj was a great edition. They talked about how long they have been working together and it was amazing to see them make music together.

  • Bonnie never looked or sounded so good

by leeahopkins on 9/2/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

I've seen Bonnie several times over the last 30 years. My wife and I were in row 7 and both thought Bonnie has never looked or sounded better than she did this night at Red Rocks.

  • Bonnie Raitt & Taj Mahal were outstanding

by Maryannabanana on 9/2/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Setting was Red Rocks Amphitheatre - couldn't be a better place to see such an amazing concert. The evening began with winds and even a little dampness, but soon cleared up to provide the active and enthusiastic crowd with a most memorable concert. Blues, blues, brass, stunning guitar work and incredible vocals. Every piece was performed in an outstanding manner and kept the crowd on their feet for at least half of the concert. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

  • Bonnie Raitt - A brilliant performer

by luckofthedraw on 9/2/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

We REALLY enjoyed Bonnie and Taj Mahal. Bonnie is a star performer, she made you feel like it was a private concert. She is a great musician, and a very impressive performance. She thanked everyone for "digging in their pockets" to come to the concert.

  • Bonnie still rocks

    by G9CO on 9/2/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

After some light rain, the weather cleared to a beautiful evening at Red Rocks. We weren't familiar with Taj's music but were quickly charmed by his roots blues and horn section! Bonnie and Taj together were great...but then Bonnie is so strong on her own, that alone was worth price of admission...she cracks you up then brings you to tears from one song to the next. I will always go see Bonnie at the Rocks.

  • Don't miss BonTaj Roulet

by kipp1969 on 9/2/09Minnesota State Fair Grandstand - St PaulRating: 5 out of 5

The duets they did were like surprise gifts. Their voices are so different and distinct and layer well together. Taj is very talented with harmonica and even played a blues tune on the banjo. At this show Bonnie memorialized her brother Steve--who lived in the Twin Cities--and passed away with an illness recently. Her personal notes were very touching. I love how she cozies up to her audience and shares herself. What a gal, Bonnie Raitt.

  • Bonnie is still fabulous

by NachoMedic on 9/1/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Taj Mahal knows how to play to an audience, and Bonnie Raitt is as engaging, beautiful, and talented as ever. Either artist could have held the show on their own, but together they were a force to be seen. What a wonderful show, and a real treat for blues fans.

  • Unforgettable!

by tajgirl on 9/1/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

WOW! It was a wet, cold, windy evening but once the artist began to warm up, the climate changed and the storm past! It was a pleasure to see artist who share a personal history, a love for their music, and their heritage all come together for a once in a life time event. How often do you see artist preforming at the top of their game in one of the most spectacular unique settings in America. Breathtaking all around! I loved each set but was especially fond of the acoustic duo of Bonnie and Taj. Taj you played The Rooster song! I was Satisfied n Tickeled Too! The banter betweeen the two was a natural heartfelt union. The sound of Bonnie's voice in moonlight setting, was angelic and pure as it penetrated the crisp night air. Bonnie, I saw you in Salina, Ks, March 2009, at the Steffiel Theather. It was an amazing concert but your voice bouncing off the Red Rocks... OH MY. I will never forget it! I would like to share that the event was held in "Denver" but I met fans who traveled from South Carolina, St Louis, Wyoming, and of course, me and my "Thelma and Louise" Friend- Wichita, KS. Best wishes to the artist. SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS!

Was incredible. I'm a bonnie fan. Have seen her with a lot of acts. This was the BEST for seeing her with another act. She's great with all of them - Jackson, Lyle, etc. But this was the best for her to perform with

Bonnie Raitt & Taj Mahal at Red Rocks on an August evening.....how much better can a Sunday night get? We flew in from Chicago just to see her there and were not disappointed....More great memories at Red Rocks!

  • BONJAJ ROULET-ALONE TOGETHER ALL INCREDIBLE

    by MAC1960 on 9/1/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

I can't decide which part of the concert I liked the best. Taj Mahal & his band was SO much fun & good energy, Bonnie Raitt and her easy & beautiful voice, the acoustical portion with the two of them together, then the joining of the bands. WOW. The only thing I wanted was MORE of everything. It was well worth sitting in the rain and wind...THANK YOU...
