Food quality and choices poor. I was given an ice cold hamburger. Worst experience I had at a golf tournament
Medinah is an iconic golf experience. All the volenteers are friendly and helpful. The parking arrngements were better then previous championship events. The Trophy Club experience was not worth the value, food quality was poor, too crowded to finding seating, no cover over the outside seating in which the sun was right in you eyes all afternoon. Trophy Club was misadvertised as on the 18th green but actually was on the fairway and you really couldn't see the green. It was enjoyable to just to walk the course too bad most of the seating is reserved and not open to the public.....
I love watching golf. Love watching the premier players golf. BUT damn. As a carrying BMW key holder, this is our 5th year and every single year the owners tent gets smaller and smaller and the "paid" tent gets bigger and bigger, you would think that BMW would appreciate the owners as much as the people who PAY to get into a tent. it was at capacity all 4 days and the lines so long you had to wait 45 minutes to get food OR drink. Not fun especially when you want to watch golf. and the prices. a 16 oz bloody mary with a shot of vodka was 17 dollars, a mich ultra 8, a draft 10 food was reasonable but cold. Two days and hundreds of dollars spent. They could halve their prices and still make bank, esp. since the high brow 400 dollar a day tents sell out every single day. It's just another example of people being taken advantage of because they have no choice. Will I be back? of course I LOVE GOLF, doesn't mean I have to like being price gouged.
This had to be the nicest experience I have had at an event that was attended by so many people. Not only was it clean and beautiful, all of the people working there were professional, friendly, and personable. It was exceptionally run and truly a great experience from the parking and the transportation to the final hole of the final golfer.
We really enjoyed the tournament Beautiful day on Friday We were a little disappointed when they ran out of an advertised beer at concessions at lunch time and the hand stations at the porta potties ran out of hand sanitizer mid afternoon
Parking was so far away from Medinah...had to wait thirty minutes to get on a school bus They didn’t plan for Tiger fans, so crowded Missed seeing tee off because of it Remember the good old days when you could park at Medinah
The weather, course and golf was all wonderful....and being a BMW Owner made the day extra special.
Event was great but parking was confusing. Lots were marked with letters and there was no information ahead of time which lot letter to park in.
Most of the event went very well. When we approached the BMW owners Pavilion, we were not allowed access because one couple did not have their key fob with them. We had ridden with another couple who owns a BMW, and had no need to bring our key with us. We had to find another concession stand for lunch, and there was no seating for their customers.
The venue at Medinah is wonderful, beautiful. The grandstands were erected in perfect balance allowing a great viewing experience from the busiest holes to the most remote at the far corner of the course. The volunteers everywhere were cheerful, pleasant and helpful. Navigating the course was a breeze thanks to very well-planned walking routes and well controlled fairway crossings. The bathrooms were plentiful everywhere. The raised walkways in many of the busiest areas made walking easy on otherwise difficult, messy terrain. I should add that the walk from the shuttle or Rideshare drop-off point was a considerable distance...a good a fifteen minute walk at a brisk pace, but when you figure that you're going to be walking through a huge golf course, what's another mile, right? The grounds food and beverage service was less than desired. The experience starts with a long line leading to an extremely poorly implemented tv display menu that fades in and out from page to page on multiple screens with each of them on a different thing at different times. It continues with the order experience. Either overstaffed or understaffed or undertrained or poorly supplied. Each location had its own set of problems. Far too much time was spent with the order taker stating all of the things they didn't have or did have. Knowing that these are volunteer workers makes it more tolerable however it's unfortunate that something was missing or poorly handled at every location visited whether at the main entrance or the deepest part of the course The temporary kiosks and the people who supplied them were just not equipped to handle the volume which led to long lines, immense product shortages, and a general sense of losing control even at day #2. The resulted in purchasing two drinks taking about 30 minutes waiting in a line of 15 people. I cannot imagine how they handled the increase spectator traffic over the weekend. All said, we did not starve nor die of thirst and it's good to know that many local charities benefited from the sales. The Merchandise Tent—in contrast— was run extremely well considering the volume of people within. Despite a steady flow of product being taken off of the shelves, volunteers kept inventory coming in just about as fast as people could pull it off. Unfortunately, there was a severe lack of "medium" sizes for men so I left without the golf shirt that I really liked and ended up with a so-so t-shirts, hat, and ball markers. The checkout lines were blazing fast and as efficient I have ever seen at any store or venue ever; Though stretching through the entire store, it was constantly moving and quick! On to the golf. Unbelievable! To be able to see these world-class golfers up close on a world-class golf course in a playoff atmosphere and feel that energy is like no other spectator experience and at the end of the day, the BMW Championship delivered and was a fantastically entertaining event that our family looks forward to returning to again and again.
Had a great time at the BMW Championship. The weather was beautiful and had fun throughout the day. What a great way to get up close to your favorite golfers and watch them perform. I only wish the tickets we purchased had a better explanation (Trophy Club). They were explained as a "sports bar" type atmosphere with upgraded food choices and outside seating. Turns out the outside seating was grandstand seating to watch all the 18th hole green shots!
Need more busses to pick up at the parking in the morning long lines and wait to get to the tournament
Well organized. Friendly staff. Beautiful venue at Medina Country Club.
Purchased my parking pass online. The mobile ticket never mentioned a Lot # or where to park. Had to search through the website to find a description. Just saying that it would have prevented a good deal of confusion.
Such a beautiful and widespread course all set up perfect for the spectators. The 18th fairway Trophy Club was amazing and well worth the upgrade for my 74 yo dad and I. Seats were right where players took 2nd shot into the green. Got several great pictures of players.
Always love watching the PGA and Medinah is a great place with lots of perfect viewing spots. It's so nice that Veterans get in free, but was a little disappointed that there was no viewing area for Veterans as in the past.
Food in the Trophy Club was cold. Bacon on the club sandwich was frozen. Medina is a beautiful place. Bmw is a great sponsor. 70 of the best players in the world competing for a huge prize. Nothing better
Couple of nit pick complaints: Walking...I don’t mind walking but we had to walk about 15 minutes just to get into the tournament. We then walked the course to view the different players. As an older person it kind of wore us out. It would have been nice to be dropped of by ride share in front of the entrance. Maybe there’s a ligit reason. Also on number 1 Tee, the person announcing the players didn’t have a microphone w small speaker? Thought that was strange (couldn’t hear). The Trophy club was OK but no covered seating outside...we baked in the sun. I wouldn’t purchase again.
The event was awesome! It was great to be so close to the pro golfers and enjoy the atmosphere. The only thing I would change is to have the map define the various tents - are they private or public?
The parking lot has 1 letter indications for the lot to use *"G", "O") yet the parking ticket issued does not use that system. Hence it is difficult to know exactly where to drive to in order to park. Once parked, the buses take between 25 to 30 minutes to travel the 6 miles to the event. The bus air conditioning did not work on the trip to the event, and the driver accidentally turned on the heat for the trip from Medinah back to the parking lot. Medinah should not be allowed to host another event of this magnitude until it can figure out how to treat people a bit better than cattle. Once at the country club, some additional signage would have helped to direct people to the various holes. Also, there seemed to be insufficient trash containers in certain areas of the course.
