  • Great show

by MplsGoer on 6/17/10Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 4 out of 5

Lets start with the opening band "Root City," These guys were awesome! If you get a chance to see them, DO IT! Go find them in town somewhere. The music was tight, the singing was great, the guys were entertaining and when they brought their incredible female singer in for a song, they captivated the house. Great band. OK, Blues traveler, excellent show. They were out there having a good time and they sounded wonderful. The new slimmer Popper still smokes like a campfire but sounds awesome. His voice is still great and he is the master of the harmonica. They played a lot of music and quite a few of the big hits. Just a little too much jamming for my taste (jamming while Popper would quickly suck down a heater) but the crowd was really into it and they kept the show very upbeat and entertaining. This was my first show at the Zoo ampitheater, and I will definately see another show there. A great intimate venue with very good sound. Overall, I'd give the show a 9 out of 10.

  • Blues Traveler Rocked the Zoo

Did not realize how prevalent the cow bell had become in the blues genre! The Blues Travelers were awesome with their own tunes in addition to covers of Aztec Camera and Cheap Trick. This group is a master at song transitions and at times seemed to be channeling the Grateful Dead.

  • Blues Traveler (John Popper)

Exceptional ! What energy ! We all got our money's worth at 'the zoo' last night. One of the best that I have experienced at 'the zoo' series.

Blues Traveler played an awesome show! It was so much fun, we didn't want the show to end... Popper's vocals and harmonica playing was superb!

What a fantastic concert. The outdoor venue and the fantastic music was absolutely amazing. They performed non-stop and what a team of talented musicians. I've been listening to their music all morning- I would go again tonight if another concert!

  • AWESOME live!

by lizzird on 5/6/10State Theatre - St PetersburgRating: 5 out of 5

Blues Traveler is awesome live! Venue had an alright seating setup.

  • The harmonica playing was amazing

    by Emmie2345 on 4/27/10State Theatre - St PetersburgRating: 3 out of 5

The opening bands were not very good, but Blues Traveler played well. Popper had quite an amazing stage presence and his harmonica playing was unparalleled, it was exciting just to see him play. However, the long-winded jam band crap in the middle of actual songs was boring and the fact that he looked like he was smoking pot and drinking on stage was a disapointing example.

  • Blues are back

by NikkiLee on 4/27/10State Theatre - St PetersburgRating: 4 out of 5

Blues travelers were amazing. I guess the armed forced made them their own coin to give out to soldiers in our armed forces. They gave their one and only out to a marine navy seal that they have meet on several occassions and remet years later at sadams castle half way around the world. The major was at this event and the show was dedicated to him. It was amazing. The black hookies had tommy tompson with them which was cool n dive bar stalkErs rocked

  • I cried the blues after hearing Blues Traveler

by Anonymous on 4/25/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 1 out of 5

After waiting more than two hours for Blues Traveler to make their entrance, I was so disappointed to have spent money to see them in concert. The setlist was crap, a bunch a songs that were unrecognizable until finally he faded into a new rendition of " Runaround." That got the crowd going, but the constant waling on his harmonica became annoying after the first few songs. We left after just an hour of listening to this group and were thankful to be free of the noise. Very disappointing!

  • Amazing Band!

    by Kachita1909 on 4/25/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5

The band is amazing!! The venue is OK but unfortunately I was surrounded by lots of drunken people which I did not care for….

  • by Anonymous on 4/25/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 2 out of 5

It would have been nice to know in advance that there was a back up band. Of course, the back up band didn't start until after 9:30 p.m Blue Travelers didn't start playing until 11:00 p.m. The ticket indicated that the show started at 8:00 p.m. We had to stand around with nothing going on for 1 1/2 hours - big disappointment!

  • culture room not the place to enjoy yourself

    by JackB1 on 4/24/10Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 1 out of 5

The warm up band was late and dry, the worst we've ever heard after many trips to the place. Like listening to a hour of intro. We left and didn't feel like waiting for an event starting at 11pm. We probably won't return to the culture room.

Silly me, I thought this band would play the blues. My fault for not doing research. Headbanging screeching harp, guitar and lyrics??? not my cup of tea.
