They were Great. The hail and thunderstorm was not. We had to leave right when they got on stage.
even tho it rained we had a blast and danced right through the show, and tailgating b4 the Blues Traveler show was fun too!! They rocked the house!! :) And the start up band, Rebelution, was also good to listen to!!
The show was just okay. It poured down cold rain most of the time. The opening reggae band Rebelution wasn't bad, but played for far too long. Blues Traveler's set opened up with a snooze – a slow harmonica piece. Saw most of the rest of the show on a screen inside. All in all, pretty forgettable.
The weather was terrible - should have called the concert due to the thunder and lightening storm! Obviously, did not enjoy the concert at all.
I wouldn't pay rebelation to play at a high school prom. It was unfair to the fans to expect them to stay through 60 mph winds & torrential rains after 4 songs from Blues Traveler
Amazing Show! Cold, wet, an electric storm, but even though the band was soaked they never slowed down, they played their whole first album since it was the 20th anniversary, and kept us dancing the whole show. Unforgetable!!!
Great Band at an incredible venue! Opening band was awesome as well.
Blues Traveler always put on an unforgettable show, this show was no exception! This is the first show I have been to that it rained the entire event but even with the rain, hail and numb body parts we stayed until the end and do not regret it for a minute. The opening act was Rebelution which has a Sublime sound but has yet to really carve out a niche in my opinion. They played for about 1 hour and they have a few goods songs but otherwise they have a repetitive sound in most of there songs / lyrics. When Blues Travelers hit the stage the audience was more than ready to see the band they came to see. The next 4 hours were comprised of a few new songs, a few old songs and the entire Blue Travlers / Blues Travler album. Blues Travler on 4th of July is a tradition for us and has been for many years. Next year we will pepair for rain and hope for outstanding fireworks. They theater was very close to full this year in spite of the weather and it seemed most stayed until the end. There is not other place that compares on the 4th of July! See you next year!
Rained like a madman on us, lol clear for weeks and rains on our concert. The Blues Travellers were great. Red Rock in Morrison Co. is a great venue and has fantastic sound accoustics. But $7.25 beer and $3.50 H2O but RR has a liberal food / container policy. Every seat looked to be a good one. I hope they comeback again this year on a clear day.
The music was pretty good but it was too cold and wet to stay.
He smokes alot of heaters during break, and God only knows what he has in those coffee cups he chugs down, but you get 100% pure energy and 100% pure music. You really get your monies worth!!
I thought the most frustrating part of the show was John Popper's numerous breaks to have a cigarette when they would fill in with long and boring solos by the rest of the band. Very annoying and too frequent for a 2 hour show.
shared a little already on my facebook page. second time at this venue, the minnesota zoo, had seen the indigo girls there a few years back. thought it was odd how frontman john popper was taking multiple smoke and drink breaks during the show. but i liked hearing songs like 'but anyway', 'run around', and 'hook'. only have one of their CDs, 'four'- it has 2 of those 3 songs. liked hearing some covers as well, like 'what i got' by sublime, 'creep' by radiohead, and 'want you to want me' by cheap trick, the last of which was in the encores. liked how i was not alone on bringing a harmonica, i knew i would be inspired to play it some after hearing popper play his harmonica.
Pretty much two solid hours of music. Lots of energy. Enjoyed this show as much as any we have ever seen. More entertaining than Steve Martin.
Disappointing~John Popper took several breaks on stage while his partners played to suck down cigarettes and down shots of hard liquor. It was nauseating to watch and really damaged the band's stage show. It seemed as though the audience was confused by the ~5 minute smoke breaks because we looked at John's back as he faced the back stage wall to satisfy his addition. It's too bad he couldn't save it for before of after the show. John also used the "F" word a little more then I care to hear at a concert. It was clear the booze he was downing had an affect on him.
What can I say but a serious disappointment with the show at the zoo last night. Considering I haven't seen these guys in over 10 years - I guess my expectations were too high. Not the good old Blues Traveler that jams like the best of them but rather forgotten top 20 pop act. There was a brief 10 minute stretch of what gave me a glimmer of hope to where the night was headed but it ended as soon as it began. Overall two thumbs down. Don't waste your money. Just wish I could ask these guys - what happened?
Awesome music at a fabulous venue! Never been to a show at the mm zoo? Check it out. Some trails are open for walking And you can see some of the animals too! blues traveler killed it! Gotta love the harmonica!!
Ist time seeing Blues Traveler live and loved it! They really put on a great show. The musicians are all fun to watch and very energetic. John is soooooo talented with the harmonica and tossed a bunch into the audience. It amazes me that he can sing and play the harmonica like he does when he smokes and drinks continuosly throughout the whole show. They did some choice covers and really rocked out. Loved it!
Excellent concert! ..This was the first time we had seen Blues Traveler and the first time we went to the Minnesota Zoo.. The event was a blast!
It's been awhile since I've seen them live and last night brought it all back! The MN Zoo is an awesome venue and the band was smokin', like the title states they were non-stop entertainment. I hope they come back soon!
