  • A Great Jam Session

    by fbz1 on 10/4/10Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 4 out of 5

John Popper was outstanding as expected, particularly on the harmonica. He jammed during one set with a very accomplished guitar player in the warm-up band, and they really produced some amazing sounds. Popper threw several harmonicas out into the audience during the performance-nice touch. Although Blues Travelers performed here in a restored old movie house with theater seats, everyone was out of their seats dancing to the music. Popper's voice (which is truly unique and fantastic in recordings) was a bit drowned out at times by too much instrumental. His incessant cigarette smoking on stage was disruptive and caused me concern about the damage he was doing to his great lungs. His fellow band members tried to divert the audience's attention during these cigarette breaks, but Popper is really the key to the act so it did not work. Maybe a nicotine patch next time John?

  • I wish I could say "Awesome", but I can't

    by TrixieB100 on 10/4/10Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 1 out of 5

These guys have been rocking for many years, I can not fault the musicianship, but I wasn't entertained. If I was in a crowded back room in a bar, I might have been more smitten, but the long guitar solos while some of the band members stepped aside to have a smoke or whatever, left me bored and questioning why I was there. The UPTOWN Theater in Napa is wonderful. Recently re-opened, beautifully restored, and a great venue. I didn't enjoy the band. Shame, because I so wanted to. We left early.

  • But anyway...

by thatsaticketinmypants on 10/4/10Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

I have been sewing Blues Traveler for 20 years now and have never seen a throw-away show. These guys put it all out every time (even with John Popper having a cold this show), and this one was no exception. An excellent band and an excellent performance!

  • Blues Traveler were total energy

by FriendofHaggis on 10/4/10Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 4 out of 5

The show started late but it was very much worth it. From the opening song through the encore, the group's energy and musical talent prevailed. The crowd was into it and the theater was a great venue. How could you go wrong with Napa Smith on tap and roof raising harmonica and guiter on the stage.

  • The energy was unbelievable!

by tomandthegirls on 9/7/10SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center - WindsorRating: 5 out of 5

WOW! The venue was beautiful! We had a great picnic on the lawn with friends while listening to the warm up bands. We were perfectly happy and unprepared for the energy Blues Traveler brought to the stage! They had everyone up on their feet feeling the music the entire time. They played to the crowd so well! When leaving everyone was just walking out saying - Amazing!

  • Luke Mulholland

by lynnjbfan on 9/7/10SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center - WindsorRating: 5 out of 5

Luke and his band stole the show- gonna be huge!! Remember the name!

  • A Great Night under the Stars

by LovestheBlues2010 on 9/7/10SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center - WindsorRating: 5 out of 5

Under the new SummerWind Tent, three bands kept the night cool with a mix of blues and rock! The three band complemented each other with aslow but steady increase in pace and quality sound. The Steve Palmer Band played some nice tunes to set up the evening. The Luke Mullholland Band had several catchy memorable songs and seem to be on the right track to that elucive mix of technique, charisma and melody that makes Blues Traveler great. The headliner, Blues Traveler, is a sparkling, catch your breath, mix of great songs and awesome technique. They clearly love their music and their enthusiam moves out into the crowd and invites you along on the ride. A very enjoyable evening. Please come back again!!! A few things worth mentioning for the future - the first two acts had serious issues with the higher end notes from the big cymbal and vocals that was cringeworthy. this was fixed on the Blues Traveler equipment. Also some on the lighting cues were rather dark- either the preformers were out of the light line or they didin't quite work. All in all- minor technical diffuculties. One of the nicest parts was meeting some of the performers. They were all very approachable and seemed to be enjoying their visit to Connecticut. I hope we made them feel welcome.

  • Blues Traveler

by tolltaker on 9/7/10SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center - WindsorRating: 5 out of 5

I loved Blues Travel. I could believe you could do all that with a harmonica. I would definitely put them on my must see again. The problem I had was with the audience. I really didn't pay to watch their backsides. There were people that did not pay for seats, they decided to stand rather than sit or go up front near the stage. It was only 8 people and they were all in front of us. Security did not ask them to sit or check their tickets. Somewhat of a minor detail because the music was unbelievable.

  • Great show, great venue

by EKIM111 on 9/7/10SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center - WindsorRating: 4 out of 5

John Popper still great, the band is tight, great musicians by themselves. Lead guitarist put on a great show. Luke Mulholland Band was very good. So good we bought both their cd's. Steve Palmer Band was okay, music was good, vocals just okay.

  • Excellent

by Julieann2989 on 9/7/10SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center - WindsorRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was amazing. The band, as always, was fantastic. The opening band was so good that we bought both of their CD's. Great show.

  • Blues Traveler

    by Lisa1966 on 8/7/10The Intersection - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent venue to see a show. Good parking spots. Tickets were cheap (4 for $16 each) Blues Traveler (as always) on top of their game and over the top awesome! No one in the world can play the harmonica like John Popper. It was the most fun I've had in months. Drinks were economical and service was excellent.

The official start time was 6:00, and while I did expect the opening act to last 30-45 minutes, I was not expecting that Blues Traveler would not come on till 8:00. 30 minutes of the excessively loud opening act would have been enough. And in any case, 2 hours lead time for the headliner is at least an hour too long. Though Blues Traveler was really good when they finally came on 2 hours after published start time, we unfortunately had to leave shortly afterward. So, we pretty much missed entirely what we had paid our money to see. I give the show two stars instead of none because the setting is so spectacular and because I'm sure Blues Traveler gave a great concert once they finally started playing.

  • Weather was a bummer!!

by BTall on 7/9/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

We loved the part of the show that we saw. It was rainy and windy and we did not stay for the entire show. We have been to other 4th of July Blues Traveler shows at Red Rocks and they were great.

  • Stormy Blues Traveler

by DianeHody on 7/9/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Blues Traveler group are dedicated and well worth the storm that we had to endure to hear them. Between the rain, wind, and adverse weather conditions; my husband and I were impressed with the quality of the music during this concert.

  • nothing short of amazing

by hmschlosser on 7/9/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Red Rocks is always a good time, as well as Blues Traveler. This time though, was awesome. Some wicked rain storm rolled in... as Mr. Popper rolled into playing "The Mountains Win Again." Really, couldn't be more perfect. We danced all night in the face of the freezing rain and Blues Traveler was much obliged to continue!! Amazing. Period.

  • Blues Traveler was Amazing!

by lowrider2 on 7/8/10Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first Concert at the Zoo and I can't wait to go to another one! What a great small venue that was so much fun to watch a live concert. This was the way to go.

  • Blues Traveler Rock the Wintery Night

    by Wilbur232 on 7/7/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

What a great show and sticking it with the weather was awesome. What a great way to celebrate the Independence of our Country!

  • WORST CONCERT I EVER ATTENDED!!!!

    by BRAT307 on 7/7/10Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 1 out of 5

The opening band played what sounded like the same song for an hour and a haif... It seemed like Blues Traveler didn't want to take the stage because of the weather...
