I've been to the Blues Traveler 4th of July show many many a time and this time I was going to show off RedRocks and BT. to my nephew who's new to CO. He's a 20yo hip-hop kind a guy. Me 49 yo rock n role kind a guy I new going in that It wasn't his thing. but I thought surely when BT. took the stage and rock the house. I would get some points for being a COOL uncle. So what happened? I'll tell you what happened We sat through the new album of what I can only describe as Disney Movie soundtracks. PU.... My nephew left halfway through the show and I was almost right behind but I stayed. I stayed for the few crumbs of Rock n Role that I could get. and thats all I got, just a few crumbs. Will I go see Blues Traveler again? You Bet! They are an awesome band and I have no doubt they will rock the 4th of july RedRocks house again ! I just won't be able to convince my nephew to join me
They are an awesome band, and gives 110% with a 2 hour straight show! Loved Crystal Bowersocks too. And Red Rocks!!! What a beautiful venue!! Of course the drinks were overpriced especially when you think about the cost of the tickets- sitting so close to neighbors with no back to lean on.
The band played their entire new album, a select few oldies and the remainder sounded like a jam session at a local hang-out. Combine that with an overzealous sound man and we considered leaving early, but thankfully it came to end about this time. Conclusion: not much "blues" left in these travelers.
What a fantastic show for my first Red Rocks experience! Row 29, dead center, phenomenal sound, great songs, awesome entertainer! I bought the new album before I left the parking lot. Thanks John Popper, for sticking around and making great music for 25 years!
Great sound & great energy, but i would have loved to hear more of their old songs.
I had seen Blues Traveler once before, but to see them at Red Rocks was awesome!
This is really a great way to spend your 4th of July evening. Good music and great weather at a great venue.
Was not very impressed Fits and Tantrums were more entertaining....Would have been worth seeing them at a fair or small venue. I always loved them but wouldn't buy tickets again.
The thought of Blues Traveler on the 4th seemed like a perfect idea. The opening act, Fitz & the Tantrums were great!!! The venue was perfect, the crowd was friendly, and the weather mellowed to a reasonable summer temperature. Then Blues Traveler came on and announced that the first half of the show they would be playing their new album that they have never played to the public before. It STUNK!!! They sounded like ZZ Top...NOT at all what I payed money to hear. They said they would play their older music after the first set so I sat through the crappy stuff to hear the songs I love but, NO they played something that he wrote when he was 17 years old and other junk that belonged left on the recording studio floor. I'd never go see them again.
Once again it was an excellent show. The guest musicians also very good. Red rocks always provides such an awesome venue. The weather was great, my handicap seating could have been better, they sat us off to the side and the seats are hard wood, maybe cushions...I have gone to this show 6 times already and this was near best.
I was really disappointed in this performance, and turned off by John Popper's arrogance- failure to recognize other musicians, among other things.
Great concert, great cause. We enjoyed it very much!!!
The sound was great. Seats were at a great price. I would do it again in a minute.
Been seeing the guys in concert since they opened for the Allman Brothers back in the 80s. They still rock! Definitely worth the trip to see them.
Saw this show at RedRocks on the 4th of July. TRULY amazing! Fireworks going off all across Denver in the background, Red Rocks ROCKS!!!
fabulous lineup with good energy. the fireworks in the background made a nice show as well.
I don't spend money to see music very often because there aren't many bands that move me like they do. I have a deep connection with their music from a very hard time in my life. To see them since that time was healing. John is one of the more talented musicians out there...a true musician in every sense of the word. I was mezermerized by his harp playing. They were having a wonderful time on stage and truly connected to their art. Popper ain't the sexiest man alive so to speak, but he is when he's performing!
I've been wanting to see these guys live for a long time. Expected a great show and they met my expectations without a problem. Great weather, beer, and Blues Traveler....what more would you want on a Sunday afternoon. They seemed into the show and crowd and sounded great. I will see them again when the opportunity arises.
Lukus Nelson and his bad are impressive. I loved his whole vibe when I saw him on Dave Letterman a few months ago... his style is hard to pin point .... its everything I love; Southern Rock, Country, blues.... kind of raw...really fun and very entertaining!!!
