Raised in Michigan and now based in Nashville, GRAMMY Award-winning Billy Strings is known as one of music's most compelling artists. Most recently, he unveiled "California Sober," a collaboration with legendary artist Willie Nelson--his first release since partnering with venerable label, Reprise Records.
The collaboration follows Strings' most recent full-length album, Me/And/Dad, which was released last fall and features Strings alongside with his dad, Terry Barber. The product of a longtime dream, the record features new versions of fourteen bluegrass and country classics that the two have been playing together since Strings was a young child.
Since his 2017 debut, Strings has been awarded Best Bluegrass Album at the 63rd GRAMMY Awards, Artist of the Year at the 2022 and 2023 Americana Music Awards, Entertainer of the Year at the 2021, 2022 and 2023 International Bluegrass Music Awards, Best New Headliner at the 2022 Pollstar Awards, Breakthrough Artist of the Pandemic at the 2021 Pollstar Awards and has performed on the 64th GRAMMY Awards, "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," PBS' "Austin City Limits," "Bluegrass Underground" as well as countless sold-out tour dates world-wide.
Billy Strings is nominated for three awards at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards: Best Bluegrass Album (Me/And/Dad), Best American Roots Song ("California Sober" feat. Willie Nelson) and Best Country Duo/Group Performance ("High Note" with Dierks Bentley).

While the All State Arena hasn't changed so much as 1 bathroom tile in the last 25 years, that didn't take away from how great of a show Billy put on. Had a fantastic time!
Arriving in the afternoon in the parking lot , friendly workers parking cars. Shakedown street was amazing .. felt safe at all times.. Billy Strings put on a excellent performance..(2 1/2 hrs show basically)..I will see him again soon I hope
Read my title as it is self evident. In this day in age you should be able to provide a photo of the state from the perpective of every seat.
Was looking forward to this but sadly it wasn't very good. TOO many weird overly long jams that went nowhere. Pity, traditional stuff was really good. Just to much odd stuff for me.
Billy Strings and Band were amazing. I have rarely seen a crowed so juiced. Allstate Arena, on the other hand -- yeesch. Good thing the crowd mostly stood and danced through out the shows, because the seats are sized for 10 year olds. I will never go back there with a seat in the stands.
Wow - what a scorcher weekend. From Billy’s dad joining the band on Friday to that full on fire show Saturday - maybe one of the best concerts I’ve ever been too. Seats were great too and the staff was awesome. Let’s do it again
I have been seeing Billy for a long time, since the Don Julin. I remember seeing them in MI - once at a small brewery along with maybe 30 other people. Fastforward through maybe 15 shows and 12 years. The 2023 June show at Pine Knob was out of this world. However, the Chicago shows in May 2024 were, in a word... meh. The band was not really listening to each other. It felt more like staged solos where each member steps forward and plays a set piece. There were a few moments of improvisational jamming, but they seemed to be few and far between. Some of the songs felt far more modern country than traditional Amercian Roots and Bluegrass. I suppose you will have the misses and those shows that are hits (see Pine Knob 2023 or a few of the Intersection shows), keep you coming back.
Billy Strings is a great show at a reasonable price. I hope it is able to stay that way.
Billy Strings was so much fun! This show exceeded my expectations. I would recommend Billy Strings to anyone, no matter what type of music they like. It was just a good time! Can’t wait to see him again.
