Bad Company on Tour

The band that helped define hard rock in the 1970s, Bad Company remains one of the most exciting purveyors of the heaviest of sounds. The incomparable voice of Paul Rodgers may be the biggest reason for the enduring power of Bad Company classics like "Feel Like Makin' Love" and "Rock ‘n' Roll Fantasy."

The latest chapter in the history of this British rock institution began when the surviving original members reconvened in 2008. Revitalizing a repertoire drawn from such hit albums as 1974's Bad Company and 1976's Run With the Pack, Rodgers earned Bad Company a new generation of fans with the help of co-founder and drummer Simon Kirke — who'd originally joined the frontman in the British rock band Free — and two more recent recruits in longtime Heart guitarist Howard Leese and bassist Todd Ronning.

Bad Company's summer 2019 tour includes two concerts with Lynyrd Skynyrd, who were their tourmates for a joint 40th Anniversary Tour in 2013 and The Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour in 2018.

Bad Company Background

Of all the rock supergroups of the ‘70s, Bad Company had the most unbeatable pedigree. Formed in 1973, the band combined the powerhouse team of vocalist Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke — both of Free, the rockers behind "All Right Now" — with Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs and King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell. Under the guidance of legendary Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant, the new band quickly became one of the biggest acts in rock.

Released in 1973, Bad Company's multiplatinum self-titled debut boasted a blues-based sound that was undeniably heavy yet just as remarkable for the players' agility and the songs' R&B swagger. It inaugurated an incredible run that continued with four more hit albums and such hit singles as "Bad Company," "Feel Like Makin' Love," and "Rock ‘n' Roll Fantasy."

After the original lineup splintered in 1982, Rodgers would find success as the leader of The Paul Rodgers Band and as a creative partner for his friend Jimmy Page in The Firm. The reunion of all four members at Peter Grant's funeral led to new recordings and new tours between 1999 and 2002. In the wake of the singer's hugely successful collaboration with Brian May and Roger Taylor in Queen + Paul Rodgers, Bad Company was relaunched in 2008 and continues to make good on its heavy-duty reputation.

    Bad Co.

by Bobby & Lisa C. on 8/26/19Twin River Event Center - Lincoln

We loved the Bad Co concert. It was my first time seeing a show in the Twin River event center. It’s little different with everyone being on the same level , but it was not an issue at all. We had great seats but even when we got drinks at the rear of the event center we could still see the whole stage. The big screens make it so ya don’t miss a thing. Band sounded great. Every song of course was a hit! The crowd knew every word to every song! For a bunch of old people , we did a pretty good job dancing through the whole set. Can’t wait for Loverboy, Sat. Oct 12th!!

Good overall, sound was off, vocals were buried.

by Pyro2120 on 8/14/19Illinois State Fairgrounds Il State Fair - Springfield

Sound levels were capped at 110db, rather than 120db the previous year, vocals were muddy with instruments distorting/ overpowering them, although adequate, got the feeling the band preferred to be elsewhere. Overall, a decent performance, and made for a pleasant evening. Audience participation was good, the best song of the night was the tribute song to Free.

by JRizz on 8/13/19Illinois State Fairgrounds Il State Fair - Springfield

Bad company was simply fantastic, playing a great mix of old Bad Co tunes along with some cover songs and even an old Free song. Paul Rodgers was excellent and seemed to be truly enjoying himself. I would highly recommend this concert to anyone.

    Worth the trip!

by ellimac63 on 8/13/19Illinois State Fairgrounds Il State Fair - Springfield

Came from NW suburbs of Chicago to see this show at IL State Fair, which is a 3 hour drive. Worth every minute! The fair was wonderful! Springfield is a world away from Chicago and it was so nice not to be treated with the Big City/Suburban hustle. No games and no propaganda and no crowds to fight through. People were kind and friendly and although there was a noticeable presence of the ISP, they didn't bother people and they did not treat everyone like we were in concentration camp as is the tendency in the cities. I understand the concerns with all the crazies and shooters running amok but it was such a joy and relief to be returned to a pre-911 atmosphere where you weren't constantly treated like a potential terrorist. The three hour trip each way was also far preferable to the Chicago traffic and parking. The show itself was great; our seats were good and we enjoyed the show immensely. Paul and the band still have it! Foghat was good too!

    Great!!!

by mamcclintic on 8/13/19Celeste Center - Columbus

Sound for Foghat had way too much bass and was distorted, sure the band sounded way better than they did. The sound cleared up as soon as Paul Rodgers and the group hit the stage!

Everyone was singing to the songs and very courteous. The only problem was people were smoking and it was blowing in our faces. But, loved the concert!!

Foghat and Bad Co put in a great show and the weather was so nice. I picked great seats-Center stage. Not sure what contraption was below us and if people were sitting underneath some kind of a half put together awning...other than that seats are good
