Audra can sing-no-wrong and Seth is a very talented musician. I knew if was going to be a combination of music/singing and talk/discussion, however I was expecting more singing. I did not expect for Audra to sing just one song then have talk/discussion.
I adore Audra and felt cheated. Left the theatre hungry for more Audra SINGING not talking. Format didn't work, sorry.
We were disappointed, and felt somewhat cheated out of what could have been an amazing concert. Audra McDonald's voice is amazing, she's so talented, however I think she might have sang 7 or 8 songs. The rest of the time she was in an interview setting, where Seth would ask her questions and they will sit and chitchat. I didn't care for that. I paid to hear her sing. People sitting around me had the same reaction. The theater was nice.
I always enjoy this series which is hosted by Sirius radio's Seth Rudetsky. The alternating perform/chat format can be off putting to those expecting a pure concert, but I always find it interesting and insightful. That said, I have to say that this particular show would have benefited from less talk and more performance. Audra's voice was amazing and her songs were a lovely mix of standards and lesser known songs by "up and coming" songwriters. And Seth's piano accompaniment is a virtuosic joy to hear, although it never overshadows the spotlighted performer. Maybe because my expectations were so high, this was probably my least favorite of the three performers I have seen in this series. Amazing performances by Megan Mullaly and, especially, Megan Hilty outshone this show, in my opinion.
The show was awesome. Could have continued for hours listening to them!
My goodness was it a experience. I loved it from the moment I stepped in the building to the time I had to leave. She was so down to earth and entertaining. I only wished she could do more! The only issue was that none of the audience members received a program.
Loved EVERY minute of it! Worth every penny! She is a consummate musician and very personable.
It had been a long day and I toyed with the idea of not going. Sooooooo glad I did not stay at home! The entire evening was wonderful. Audra McDonald's talent, style, and engaging personality are true gifts from God. Loved every minute and every song.
What an amazing night. Audra McDonald always finds the character in every song and is a master of conveying that through her voice. I have seen her over 15 times in concert and can only say that she gets better and better with age!
Audra McDonald was amazing!! Beautiful voice, great song selection, and outstanding connection with her audience! Could not have spent my Saturday night better. Would go again!
I had never heard Audra McDonald in concert before and didn't quite know what to expect. In summary, her voice is soothing, powerful, animated, lively and forceful all at the same time. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra accompanied her so perfectly. It was a great match. Her selection of songs, along with their subject matter also made for an entertaining but thought provoking show. I LOVED IT. She was awesome. I will be there when she comes back to Atlanta.
One word. SUBLIME!!! She was amazing from the moment she stepped on stage till the moment she left. I only wish it could have gone one for another 2 hours.
A-MAZING !!!! Her voice is PERFECT! I have been lucky enough to see Barbara, Bette and Burnadette but Audra is by far the leader of the pack !! A MUST SEE !!
Ms McDonald gave a brillant 90 minute concert! She gave reasons for each song's selection and some background which enhanced the experience. Her encore of Over the Rainbow blew down the house! Wonderful evening!
I had not heard nor was familiar with Audra McDonald but saw the poster at The Atlanta Symphony advertising her concert and decided to go... I WAS FLOORED!!! She is an amazing (total understatement) artist that woos the audience and has them sitting on the edge of our seats gasping for more! Her vocal range is phenomenal and as clear as a glass of water. I am now a HUGE fan and would travel to see her perform again!
Wonderful event! Audra McDonald evoked not only the composers and muscians of musical theatre but that of black and women's history, race and marriage equality! Her voice, clear, strong, beautifully melodic. Her dress, to die for! A wonderful evening! It made me want to "Dance All Night"!
We loved the performance. Audra gives an amazing variety of songs, from yesterday and today. Her voice range is wonderful. And her story telling made it so personal. We felt like she was talking directly to us. We will go see her again!!
The show was great! Elegant, timely.... Her voice was great! The piece selection was great! The Orchestra was amazing! A great show all around!

LOVED IT! This was a Christmas gift for my 17 year old daughter - she LOVES Audra and this is all she wanted. Our entire family attended and everyone thought it was wonderful.
