Yes but
by BroadwayR on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5I took my husband, who Is not the devotee that I am, to see Audra MacDonald, promising him that her voice and the music will delight him. I was right. When she sang, he was pleased. But, as he pointed out, she barely sang! I enjoyed the chats with Seth Rudetsky and the humor but I must agree with my husband. There needed to be much more music and much less chatter. Perhaps two or three songs, followed by a short Q&A, then a few more songs, etc. I can understand it if Ms. MacDonald preferred not to sing the familiar wonders from her shows that 'need no introduction.' However, there were a few, somewhat obscure, songs that I had trouble identifying for my husband who, logically enough, wanted to know what show as well as the lyricist and/or who wrote the music.
I listen to Seth all the time ... My car radio is tuned to Sirius Broadway almost exclusively! He's very knowledgeable, talented and funny. When I see Sutton Foster, another huge personal favorite, in March, though, I do hope there is more music and less Seth. P.S. I'll be leaving my husband at home! LOL.
