  • Audra is simply the best of the best.

Fantastic, Terrific, Sensational, just a few words to describe Audra's performance. Thank you Seth for presenting her to South Florida. The personal interview portion of the evening was just as delightful as the musical presentation. I really felt that the audience as whole really enjoyed the format as well. It was a thrill for me to attend her live performance after years of enjoying her recorded appearances and CD's.

  • Amazing Audra !

A memorable evening for sure. Having seen Audra McDonald only on TV in Concert or Tributes I was lucky enough to be in Ft Lauderdale (from London UK) to,witness what a star performer she seriously is. She has the most outstanding and original voice and was more than ably accompanied by Seth Rudetsky as always on sparkling form. I would have liked to have heard her sing one Billie Holliday song, but one can't have everything ... A Magical evening at the Parker Playhouse ...

The evening was more of an interview. It was advertised as a concert. There must have been less than 10 songs. The singing was incredible but i wish there was more of it.

Not enough singing. Too much chatting. Seth R. Not necessary.

  • Audra McDonald with Seth Rudetsky was forgettable!

by Anonymous on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 2 out of 5

Audra McDonald was fantastic when she was singing and Seth is an excellent piano player. However, the show seemed to revolve around Seth Rudetsky talking too much - he seems very impressed with himself - asking Audra too many questions and not letting her sing .I was planning on seeing Seth's other shows, but will not do so now. If I want to hear him talk, I will listen to him on his Broadway Radio show.

  • Very Disappointed

by Bobsie on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 1 out of 5

Not that familiar with Audra McDonald. Went to this "concert" with friends who are long-time fans. They begged us to go with them. Was looking forward to a typical concert program. Stage was arranged into two sets, left side piano and microphone for performer; right side set up in interview format. In 90 minutes of program, very few songs were sung, 10 maybe, probably more like 8. Interviews were mildly informative, but Seth Rudetsky's speaks so quickly, most of his comments were unintelligible. He spoke so fast that during his first comments after coming on stage, people in the audience were yelling "slow down!" He obviously did not hear them. Waste of an evening, waste of money, and, more importantly, a waste of the performer's talents. The few songs she sang were enjoyable. Finally, most comments we heard from others while exiting the theater were how disappointed they were in the performance.

Audra McDonald was superb!!!!!!! However, the number of her songs was way too few. Too much dialogue!

The event was FABULOUS!!! Ms McDonald delivered an unforgettable performance. Not an empty seat in the theatre. Her voice is unique and so strong in all the intonations. ... and ...What a LADY!!! Can't wait to see and hear her again.

I enjoy these Seth Rudetsky interviews with the stars. Audra McDonald was witty and an enjoyable conversationalist. My main quibble is the mix of singing and talking at 50/50 is off. I would prefer 75% singing with less interview.

  • Delightful Evening

Generally, I believe that Seth talks too much on Sirius XM, which I listen to regularly, but I didn't find that the case this evening. Somehow it all worked. I arrived crazy in love with Audra, and loved her even more on the way out. What a talent! What a great woman! I enjoyed the friendship between Seth and Audra.

  • Audra Mc Donald was wonderful

by IloveSeth on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Her voice is spectacular. She has a warm and funny personality, and is a very articulate speaker. When she dished with Seth, I felt as if she was one of my friends. It was an unforgettable evening.

  • Yes but

by BroadwayR on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5

I took my husband, who Is not the devotee that I am, to see Audra MacDonald, promising him that her voice and the music will delight him. I was right. When she sang, he was pleased. But, as he pointed out, she barely sang! I enjoyed the chats with Seth Rudetsky and the humor but I must agree with my husband. There needed to be much more music and much less chatter. Perhaps two or three songs, followed by a short Q&A, then a few more songs, etc. I can understand it if Ms. MacDonald preferred not to sing the familiar wonders from her shows that 'need no introduction.' However, there were a few, somewhat obscure, songs that I had trouble identifying for my husband who, logically enough, wanted to know what show as well as the lyricist and/or who wrote the music. I listen to Seth all the time ... My car radio is tuned to Sirius Broadway almost exclusively! He's very knowledgeable, talented and funny. When I see Sutton Foster, another huge personal favorite, in March, though, I do hope there is more music and less Seth. P.S. I'll be leaving my husband at home! LOL.

  • What a Talent!!!!

by Scootersr on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Audra has made history when she won her sixth Tony award this past June and when you see her in person, you know why! Audra McDonald has that great chemistry with the audience while showing her amazing range with her vocals. She is so down to earth, funny and warm you just want to hang with this person, at least I wanted too! We have seen this artist many, many times on Broadway and am always amazed on how she becomes the character. With talent like Audra, Broadway does have a bright future!!!!!

  • Lazy production

by LDJM on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 2 out of 5

We came for a concert and got conversation. In the very few songs presented Audra McDonald was wonderful ... but, selection was poor. Conversation was chatty, over-long. Seth Rudetsky talked too fast. NOT a satisfying evening. Have decided not to go to his future presentations.

  • Both Seth & Audre were great

by Anonymous on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Loved this venue. Hearing stories about Audre's life & then the song choices Touched me to my core.

  • too much talking, not enough singing

by Lucyparker on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 3 out of 5

She is charming and has a beautiful voice. He is funny and is a wonderful pianist. I thought I was paying for a concert and what we got was a lot of Seth interviewing Audra and not enough Seth playing while Audra sang. We traveled over an hour each way and I was looking forward to more of Audra singing.

  • Too Much Talking!

    by Oldtimer999 on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5

Although there is now doubt about the talent that was on stage, it has been totally disappointing, for me, throughout this series that so very much time is devoted to talking. Yes many of the stories are funny, but when you have the likes of Audra McDonald performing, one wants to hear her sing...SING....S I N G!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lots of fun

by mrshorts on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Seth Rudetsky (when I can understand his 100 mph speech) brings out the best in an interview with stage performers. Audra McDonald doesn't need any help from him while performing. But he was just fun at getting her to reveal stories of her past. Add that to her magnificent voice and the evening was wonderful.

  • Audra McDonald with Seth Rudetsky

by Luyano on 1/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 3 out of 5

horrible, she only sang 7 or 8 songs, rest of the time she chatted with Seth in an interview setting. great voice, didn't like the setup
