    Omg Loved The Nutcracker!

by Colby18 on 12/14/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

The Atlanta Ballet did a tremedous job on the Nutcracker. The costumes were amazing as well as the performances! It was a different twist on the traditional Nutcracker but I still loved it. I recommend everyone to see it! Its great for all ages.

    Nutcracker

by dden on 12/14/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

I truly enjoyed the performance, the music was fantastic which added to the over all experience. The set was beautiful which extended to the ceiling above the audience, it gave the feeling that you were in a out door theater.

The Nutcracker was worth the money!

by steph1atlanta on 12/14/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

My husband and I went to see this last night and enjoyed it very much. As a kid I went with my family many times and enjoyed it as well. I seem to remember the Miami City Ballet's version being slightly different, but it was awhile ago so not sure how accurate that memory is. We enjoyed this performance in particular the scene with the middle eastern dancers. It is certainly worth seeing and we will likely go again sometime in the future. Oh and we were also fans of the live orchestra. The music was wonderful!

    WOW!!

by lovemonkey on 12/14/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

I have lived here for TWELVE years, and have never gone to see the Nutcracker!. Why did i wait so long?. This performance was UNBELIEVABLE!!. It really brings home memories of watching this on TV when you were younger!. I could tell that the children in the audience were captivated by all the sights and sounds. It was better than any performance I have seen recently at the Fox!. In closing, I would have to say if you have not yet been to see the Nutcracker, GO RIGHT NOW AND GET YOUR TICKETS !!!.

    The Nutcracker was fabulous!!!

by Dionna on 12/14/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

Spectacular night with my daughter!! Can't wait to go again. The Fox is never a disappointment. The live Atlanta Symphony Orchestra never missed a beat and the Atlanta Ballet never had a toe out of line. Great performance!!

    Beautiful!

by Anonymous on 12/14/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

This was by far the most beautiful and memorable Nutcracker I have attended. I loved the return to it's Russian roots and the many magical touches. My granddaughter was enchanted.

Great Opening Night, but Story Changes??

by rosfan on 12/13/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

As always the Atlanta Ballet's Nutcracker was wonderful. Been going to the Nutcracker every year since 1983. It makes a huge difference with the live orchestra. The only complaint I would have is that it's absolutely silly to have Maria kill the Rat King, and the chef not chase the pig with the cleaver. Politically correct is one thing, but don't ruin a 100+ year old story. It doesn't work. I can overlook it, because the ballet is so wonderful...but please don't do that again next year!

    The Nutcracker was remarkable!

by Talleulah on 12/13/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

The Atlanta Ballet's performance of the Nutcracker was fabulous, as usual. The inclusion of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra made it all the more magical and unforgettable. As long as the symphony is there, we will continue to save up for those Nutcracker tickets every year; it's been our family holiday tradition.

    The Nutcracker ...surpassed my expectations

by VeryMerryMary on 12/13/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

Three "girls" ...a grandmother, daughter, granddaughter...were caught up anew in the beauty of the production. The costumes were gorgeous, the dancing superb, the sets were stunning. The backdrop for the 2nd half was especially so. The young granddaughter, only four, drew in her breath and said to her mother, "Oh, mamma, what a beautiful land." We elected to attend a performance with the orchestra because the live music makes it extra special.

    Great all-round experience

by Funazonki on 12/13/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

Last chance to see Atlanta Ballet in the Fox Theater. The theater is worth seeing on its own, the theater in combination with the excellent Atlanta Ballet Ntcracker production makes for a wonderful children's event with plenty to entertain the adults along the way.

    nutcracker

by chistmaslovebug on 12/13/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

I was a little disappointed. The story line deviated. It actually was a little creepy. Kids want to see the girl actually watch the nutcracker turn into her PRINCE. not the creepy toymaker coming into her bedroom through the mirror. I went a couple of years ago with my kids and it was great. NOT THIS YEAR>

Atlanta: The Nutcracker - better with Orchestra

by CNJF on 12/13/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

We used to go to the Nutcracker every year. A few years ago they stopped having a live Orchestra. We stopped going. As a former musician, the score is easily as important to me and a live orchestra is as important as the dancing to a ballet. Where would ballet be without the genius of the composer. So, I was pleased to see that at least a few of the performances this year had live music. I was happy to pay the additional fee to see ballet as it was meant to be performed. It was well worth it. Please continue to support performances with live music.

    Funny and endearing "Nutcracker"

by Lusa on 12/13/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

Last night I attended the 50th anniversary production of "The Nutcracker" at the fabulous Fox theare. The result was a funny, beautiful, and charming evening out with adorable characters, lush costuming, and a stunning Sugar Plum fairy.

    Nutcracker

by undisclosed09 on 12/13/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

Uptake: > Took my oldest two sons (age 8) with me to see the Nutcracker the first time. They especially enjoyed when the rats came out and the final battle. Wish the plot of good vs evil would continue thru the whole thing as the second act was more difficult for them to focus on. > As an adult, I thought the dancers were amazing from start to finish. My favorite was the Coffee (Arabian dance) -- such strength, grace, and flexibility! Five stars for the dancers! Downers: > Two couples brought their babies! What on earth!?! When you pay $300+ to attend an event, you don't want to listen to someone else's baby fuss - especially when you've made arrangements to leave your own at home. Get a babysitter! > Also, at intermission, they turned down or completely off, the air conditioning and it made it extremely hot to sit thru the second act. One star for management for not creating a more comfortable environment and atmosphere during the event.

    As always, completely amazing!

by minkydog on 12/12/09Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

The Atlanta Nutcracker opening night is a tradition for me and my 16 year old daughter, and this year she decided to treat her elderly grandmother for Christmas. Grandma had never been to the Fox Theater, nor the Atlanta Ballet Nutcracker, so she was totally impressed. The costuming is exquisite, the dancing athletic and professional, and the live orchestra impeccable. All around an fantasitc way to kick off the Christmas season.
