This is my fifth year in a row attending the Nutcracker and have loved it every year. The changes that have been made are not too drastic and make the show better. The venue is incredible and I love attending events at the Fox. I will surely be attending more events there in the near future.
Great show, all the dancers were very talented, the music was beautiful and the fox is always fabulous.
This was my first Fox experience- after a lifetime of dreaming about the Fox- a special a very fond memory was made while my family and I experienced the beauty of the theater and the excitement of seeing the Atlanta Ballet perform The Nutcracker. Thank you for all of the hours of hard work and dedication. Our children will always remember that night !
The Atlanta Ballet and Orchestra did a wonderful job! Very high quality production. Top of the line costumes and stage props. The orchestra sounded great. The dancers did a great job improvising over mishaps during the ballet (such as the mouse kings sword breaking). The lead dancers did a wonderful job with enthusiasm! My only complaints are on the theatre. The theatre was beautiful, but it smelled. Smelled like an old flea market. Figure there would be some nice fragrance in a place as nice as that.
The costumes were superb, the sets were enchanting and well-crafted, and the young talent awesome. I haven't seen the Nutcracker in decades and forgot how magical it can be. A live orchestra would have made this one unsurpassed, but a great performance nonetheless.
While the dancers clearly have some talent, this rendition of the Nutcracker was boring and confusing to watch. I saw the Nutcracker as a kid and was mesmerized and amazed the entire performance; however, this time there was no direct storyline or exciting parts to follow. Overall mediocre at best.
maybe it's because I have only seen famous troups such as the kirov or the opera de paris but I found the nutcracker ballet disappointing. the ballerina who played Clara was great, the spanish ballerina was awesome too but overall it seemed very amateurish more than professional. Maybe I had too great expectations for this ballet?
The skill of the dancers is incredible. Well done! He wasn't even upset that I dragged him there!!
Myself, my 6 year old and even my husband enjoyed it. You could feel the magic from the time you walked into the fox until you left. This was my 6 time seeing it and I have enjoyed it every time.
My favorite part has to be the rat part and Steph's favorite part was the Arabian Princess part.
A delightful production, very sweet and well danced.
The second half was far better than the first. That said neither was what I had hoped for. It almost appeared the artists were going through the motions. I was not impressed with some of the more modern type dance shown as well. I think next year I will go to Russia where the artists stick to the standards set so many years ago.
We were disappointed that the ballet had very little to do with "The Nutcracker" . The story line seemed disjointed with the nutcracker mostly eliminated. The dancing has been performed with more precision in previous years. The high point was the music by the live orchestra, however that was only for the opening weekend. May not want to spend a large amount of money on this year's version.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance! The Nutcracker was an exceptional value.
This will be our TENTH year visiting The Nutcracker.. it was wonderful and having the live orchestra back, rather than recorded music was like the cherry on top of an ice cream sundae!!!
I loved seeing the Nutcracker at the Fox! The show was beautiful and made for a perfect holiday outing. I would love to go back next year and see it all again :)
It is wonderful to see how every year they make subtle differences to the performance to make it interesting. It is really a show that anyone would enjoy, regardless of if they like ballet or classical music. It makes you laugh, is touching, and the sets and costumes are visually gorgeous. I go every year and am always thrilled. It is a family tradition that I hope will endure!
The Atlanta Ballet did an outstanding job this year with they're production of The Nutcracker. The show was not only eye-catching but had a nice side dish of comedic relief. The dancers were excellent and moved beautifully across the stage during the entire performance. I would highly recommend this show to anyone who is willing to sit back and have a wonderful time at the fabulous Fox Theater!
It was my 1st time at the ballet and it was a lot of fun :)
Great cast, such amazing talent! Everyone was so full of energy and on cue.
