About

Hadestown On Tour

COME SEE HOW THE WORLD COULD BE.

Welcome to Hadestown, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards® including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new show by celebrated singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today... and always.

Hadestown intertwines two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell's beguiling melodies and Chavkin's poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers and singers, Hadestownis a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.

    Amazing Show and Thought Provoking

by Thomas M on 4/30/24Boch Center Wang Theatre - Boston

I did not know what to expect from this show. I attend Broadway shows because my wife likes them. So for a birthday date we went to go see Hadestown at the Wang Theater in Boston. I have been to many shows but this production really stood out for me. I loved the modern take on the retelling of the Greek mythology of Hades and Persephone and the Greek tragedy of Orpheus and Eurydice. I found the social commentary to be pertinent to our times and thought provoking. Mostly, I was just thoroughly entertained and enthralled.

    A great production!

by Cindy on 4/30/24Boch Center Wang Theatre - Boston

There's that moment in the theater when you find your seat, get settled, and look up at the stage. If the curtains are open, you check out the still empty set and wonder what's about to happen up there. Well, every expectation last Saturday at Hadestown was met and surpassed. The set design was SO clever and well done. That train in Act Two!! And the cast had superb voices, especially Hades and Eurydice and Persephone. The two and a half hours flew by and I didn't want the production to end. None of us did. A prolonged standing ovation gave us another little song....and I think most of us would have gladly stayed for an entire second performance!

by Mary Ann on 4/29/24Boch Center Wang Theatre - Boston

This show is not to be missed! The cast, the music, the story all combine to create a lasting memory! Even though we know how this Greek tragedy ends, we found ourselves on the edge of our seats hoping for a different outcome! It’s pure magic! Don’t miss it!

I did enjoy the music very much. The story was a bit confusing. Vocalists had great harmony.

    I'm now obsessed

by Audrey on 4/29/24Boch Center Wang Theatre - Boston

Usually, one would need a break after a show to process before going to listen to the soundtrack, but when I got out of this show, I immediately looked up the soundtrack on spotify and listened to it for at least the next 24 hours on repeat. The music is so well done, and the story so compelling. I'm already planning on seeing this show again with a friend; the music is great but only half the value of the show - the visuals are stunning, and I have to go back and experience that again!

    Hadestown

by Mje on 4/28/24Boch Center Wang Theatre - Boston

It was 5 of us and all us said It was way too loud to hear most of the words in the play. Ticketmaster charged $20.00 per ticket which was way too much. The play was nice but it was dark and not much of a calligraphy.

Know the story before you go

by Suzyky on 4/24/24Landmark Theatre - Syracuse

I went to Hadestown knowing very little about the musical--only that it was a Tony winner right before the pandemic. I am sadly lacking in my knowledge of Greek tragedies. I should have boned up on them or at least read a synopsis of this play. The musical was not my favorite. The singing was terrific, but, with the exception of Hades, I had a hard time deciphering the lyrics, perhaps because I didn't know the story ahead of time. Great performance for Syracuse, on par with broadway.
