A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he's always wanted: a chance to finally fit in. DEAR EVAN HANSEN is the deeply personal and profoundly contemporary musical about life and the way we live it.
DEAR EVAN HANSEN has struck a remarkable chord with audiences and critics everywhere, including The Washington Post who says DEAR EVAN HANSEN is "Theatrical magic. One of the most remarkable shows in musical theatre history." The New York Times calls it "a breathtaking knockout of a musical." And NBC Nightly News declares the musical "an anthem resonating on Broadway and beyond."
DEAR EVAN HANSEN features a book by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson, a score by Grammy®, Tony® and Academy Award® winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman), and direction by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal).

It was a constant effort to try and understand words both verbally and sung.. either lousy sound management or lousy actors.
The themes of Dear Evan Hansen--feeling invisible and isolated from your peers and your loved ones, the unmet need for friendships--are sadly relatable to teens today. DEH's tag of "You Will Be Found" addresses itself to those feelings.
Anthony Norman’s performance was the highlight of a sensational show
This is my 4th time seeing DEH. Each Evan has been so different. While we had the Standby, he was exciting and portrayed Evan confidently and sang the role well. The show remains a favorite and continues to be current years later. Excited that the production continues its tour across the US, and included Chicago for yet another stop.
Anthony Norman is terrific as Evan Hansen and the whole cast as well. Loved the orchestra.
My guess is that the play was very good but it was so unfortunate that my daughters and I could not enjoy it. We were at the Sunday night performance sitting in dress circle. Behind us were 4 guys - they talked, hummed along and did not silenced their phone but that was nothing compared to the popcorn eating. Why do you sell popcorn in loud, crinkly bags? They munched and crinkled through each and every solemn moment of the play. The girl next to us arrived late in the second half, making us all leave our seats to allow her in and then she started with the crinkly bag and popcorn eating. Seriously consider removing popcorn and that bag from your theater.
Liked the play overall but kudos to the staging team. Smooth and seamless.
Wonderfully staged production of DEH. Performances suburb, graphics and set novel and creative, and theme of play uplifting. A must see for anyone interested in contemporary musical theater.
Well done production of a very good show/story. Beautiful theater. Unfortunately, there were some sound quality issues. We were unable to hear/understand some of the softer sung and spoken parts. This was our 4th time seeing Dear Evan Hansen. Once prior in West End and twice previously on Broadway.
Outstanding acting, beautiful music, contemprary story
Wonderful performance, very dark and twisted storyline. I did not feel it was about mental health, I felt it was about a boy with Asperger’s who dug himself too deep in a lie. Really didn’t enjoy the story but everything else was nicely done.
Poignant story with the added dimension of humor. Beautiful music performances!
Everything about the show was perfect. Loved the actors. We laughed and were brought to tears. I would definitely see it again!!
The ease of buying tickets was amazing. The theater was breathtaking. The play was very important.
The show was great! Exciting to be there on opening night. The singing and dancing were awesome. The venue upgraded our seats, which has never happened to us before. We bought $25 tix on the 25th, but we’re moved to great seats. What a fun birthday celebration for my teenager!
Cast was awesome! Zoe and Connor stole the show, along with Heidi!!
This is definitely a must see! The music was great and the actirs were just wonderful!
I had high expectations and this production exceeded them. Friends who have seen the NY production say this is equally as good, despite not having the lead actor Ben Platt. For a Broadway show on a large stage in a large theatre, it is surprisingly intimate and incredibly moving. All the actors are excellent and the staging is simple yet highly creative. I attended with my husband and we are planning to return in the summer with our whole family, this show is definitely relevant for teens and young adults.
Wow, what a powerful performance and storyline! It makes you think, laugh and cry. The actors, especially the lead actor as Evan Hansen, put their souls into their performances. How does he do his character 8 shows a week and still deliver such power and emotion? I want to attend again!
