PURITY RING IN CONCERT:

Canadian electro pop duo Purity Ring deftly combines soaring melodies and shimmering atmospherics to create an etheral soundworld that consistely captivates ticket buyers. Frontwoman Megan James forms a direct connection with her audience in concert, relating tales of heartbreak with her sincere and pristine vocals. Producer Corin Roddick mans the swirling synths and blossoming basslines, creating a rich tapestry for James’ voice to float above. In addition to their carefully crafted interplay, the group also adorns the stage with illuminated decorations that move along to the melody. Fans won’t want to miss the visual splendor and aural beauty that Purity Ring brings to songs like “Bodyache” and “Push Pull” whenever they take the stage.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Purity Ring’s rise to underground success has been on fast forward since they formed. Though vocalist Megan James and producer Corin Roddick befriended each other while playing high school gigs in Edmonton, Canada, they didn’t officially collaborate until they both joined the band Born Gold in 2010. While on the road, Roddick began experimenting with electronic productions as a side project, eventually asking James to sing on a track. Thus, Purity Ring was born as the two bounced demos back and forth via email over the following year. Their 2012 debut Shrines struck an instant chord with audiences and led to an extensive introductory tour. The nonstop performing paid off, enabling them to take the next step and enter a dedicated recording studio for the first time in 2014. The resulting album, 2015’s Another Eternity, built upon the strengths of its predecessor and solidified Purity Ring as one of the most promising young bands, both for their stellar recorded output as well as their visually stunning live shows.

Difficult to describe the sonic and visual experience

by TrueBill on 6/25/22Big Night Live - Boston

What. A. Show. The combination of music, vocals, lighting and visual imagery was unlike any of the other over 550 shows I've seen. Hard to find words to describe things that you and others have not seen before. What are those words. Otherworldly? Cosmic? Evolutionary? You need to see this show.

    Big Upset

by Thia on 6/25/22Big Night Live - Boston

Venue was perfect, guest relation team was great as well. Only downside to the night was the artist I expected to perform was not present. I had purchased the tickets when they had been first released. The show was rescheduled many times with promise that the opener, Dawn Richard would still be on the bill but there was update for if she had dropped the tour. As result, ended my night early.

    Best concert I've been to!

by Riggler on 6/7/22Neptune Theatre - Seattle

They were great! They had amazing visuals and lights and outfits that would go along with the music. Overall a really awesome experience that went beyond the already great music. Can't wait for their next show!

    Good music, poor venue

by JLow on 6/7/22Neptune Theatre - Seattle

Purity Ring is always amazing. But the Neptune theater in Seattle had room for improvement. There was no ventilation and the room was extremely hot. Everyone around us, including the performer, complained about the heat.

    Muffled Ring

by Yayforlivemusic on 6/6/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

I was soooo excited to see Purity Ring after being postponed not once but twice because of COVID. Sadly the experience was less than stellar. First off- the opening band was so far off from complimenting Purity Ring and the type of show we were all hoping to see. Grungy, ‘The Cure’ type music full of feedback with a lead singer vaping on stage left me unimpressed and not entertained. Next up Purity Ring…love their music, their stage presence, their light shows and visuals. AWESOME! I know they have not played the Neptune before and it showed. Support staff tripping over and knocking over lights, mid show, clunky costume changes and it just seemed that they were struggling with the actual venue. Not sure why they were rescheduled to the. So tune from the Paramount-but the Paramount would have been much better! Lastly…it was so incredibly hard to make out the lyrics because Megan was wearing a mask the entire time. Mask wearing by everyone was mandatory in the theater and I completely support the On-going health and safety of everyone as COVID cases are rising again… but sadly it made a big negative impact on the quality of the music. Glad to be able to see live music again and I still adore Purity Ring!

    Are you kidding me

by Anthony on 11/30/21Tabernacle - Atlanta

Soent over 600 dollars in hotel, gas, and food to come from Florida to Atlanta to see purity ring. 3 days prior to concert her email what to expect for entry into the venue be ready. Nothing else. they get to thre venue and nothing. No concert no nothing. I am soooo tickled off because they were very informative when the show wad moved the first time st beginning of covid. But boy did someone drop the ball this time. Should really look into who to take to court goout the lost money and time. Appalling just appalling communication this time around. Even on Ticketmaster and live nation shown the concert wad still on. No one answering phones assy buckhead. Had to call the original venue and hit lucky and got the bar manager to answer who checked and told me postponed to July. Little late after all that spent and time.

    First concert

by Disappointed fan on 11/26/21Tabernacle - Atlanta

My first concert experience consisted of the concert being moved twice before finally being cancelled without notice so I spent a couple of hours in traffic driving between venues confused about the location of the concert.

    Purity Ring - lip synced?

by Gainesvillemus on 12/17/17Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

The production was flawless, too flawless. I’m not sure the performance was actually a live performance. Not much of a stage presence. What is dude up top doing with the drumsticks? The venue is fine, I’ve been there before.

Purity Ring did not disappoint. They had lots of energy, where talkative to the crowd and were spot on musically. If you get a chance, see them! They're a lot of fun!

    Too little purity.

by mucha on 12/8/17Newport Music Hall - Columbus

I love Purity Ring and I will continue to support them. But, until they start playing real shows, that is, shows that are at least an hour and a half long, I will not be going to any more of their shows. I hate to give them a bad review because what the perform is good. But when you have to wait over twice as long for them to come out as the actual "show," then it is a no. So sorry.

    Perfect

by LuciferRex on 12/8/17Newport Music Hall - Columbus

Considering they are an electronic band, you expect the music to sound identical to their albums, which it does. The singing though, is typically not spot on. Purity Ring really knocks it out of the park here. She sounds almost exactly the same live as she does on recordings. I was absolutely blown away with how great their stage presence was!

    Purity Ring is no good

by Comeondown on 11/30/17BOK Center - Tulsa

Purity Ring opened up for Katy Perry's Witness Tour and stunk. This may have been one of the worst opening acts ever.
