My wife and I thought the show "Annie" was a wonderful production. It was very entertaining, and far better than the movie. The quality of the sound system was terrible though. At one point, there was a loud noise coming from the sound system that drowned the singing of the actors...And at other times, I had to strain to hear them.

  • Worth it!

I took my 8 year old. Our seats were in the upper level, which gives you a great view of all things on stage, but you do miss facial expressions. The cast was terrific - superb! All of the songs were wonderful. We had a great time. It was worth keeping my daughter out until 10:30 on a school night. The theater was a bit warm but the temperature was "fixed" after intermission. A few of the mics of the cast went off here and there, but it was only minimally annoying. Overall it was an excellent, excellent show. I am SO glad I was able to experience it with my daughter.

  • Okay but not worth the money

Not worth $55 a ticket. I've seen better plays at the local community theater. I was just expecting more "show" for that amount of money. The local community theater had more gymnastics, lights, backrounds, and props than this play. Also, the play had a lot of unnecessary scenes and songs that really had nothing to do with being about Annie. Bottom line: save your money and catch the show at the local theater.

The play was wonderful. I loved Annie as a child and was so excited to be able to see a play. However, I will say that I am very disappointed in the "language" that was used during the play. Being a "family" movie and appealing to so many young children, I really feel that it was unnecessary. NOTHING would have been taken away from the production by leaving out the "ugly words." It was a wonderful production...I just hate that we have to add the "language" to everything now....

  • Great!

I took my 8 yr old granddaughter and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I was rather disappointed in the language. My granddaughter kept looking up at me when a curse word was spit out which was probably 8 to 10 times throughout the musical. Had I known this, I probably would not have purchased the tickets. Overall it was great!

I really enjoyed Annie! The acting was superb. I had never seen Annie as far as a play or movie period so this was my first Annie experience. I bought tickets for my wife & I. It was part of my wife's Christmas. She enjoyed it too.

  • Annie Was Amazing

by BCarn on 1/13/10BancorpSouth Arena - TupeloRating: 5 out of 5

I thought the Annie performance was great. The whole cast was very talented. The only complaint that I have was I took my 5 year old and the performance lasted much longer than she could. She wasn't the only child I saw sound asleep by the end. I would recommend starting the performance earlier so the children that attend have a chance to see the whole performance. The same thing happened during the Wizard of Oz. The other issue I had was the overuse of profanity. I though it was not necessary and could have easily been replaced with "dang".

This was our first time going to a dinner theater and the experience was amazing. I have always loved 'Annie' since I was a child and it was nice that we could take our kids to see this production. The food was delicious too!

  • Annie was disappointing compared to the last one

    by DH12 on 1/9/10ASU Gammage - TempeRating: 2 out of 5

We took our 2 girls to see Annie and it was a lot of money. I paid for seats in the front to make sure they could see all the action. I was shocked to be so disappointed. I had went to see Annie on Broadway at Gammage before in 1998 and that show was terrific. Why would there be such a difference?? The Broadway show we saw in 1998 was amazing and we were so impressed. The show we just saw had much less acrobatic talent by the orphans, it had a lot of down time with adults doing solos (many restless children)., so much less acting by the orphans..;. in fact my girls (ages 5 and 7) didnt really care to stay for the 2nd half. I was flabbergasted. This was not what I expected. Did they acutally change the play? The play even seemed different--much slower and boring--than the one in 1998. Honestly this Annie version did NOT seem like Broadway theater..more like community theater. I have seen better play sets by our local Childsplay theater in Junie B Jones. I am sorry--I never write reviews--but I just was so bummed out at this play.

I took 2 of my teens as well as my 3 year old granddaughter. We all loved it. I dont recommend balcony seating at the gammage because you dont get the best view, but I will definitely go to future plays there. It was a very nice atmosphere.

The entire performance was excellent. Music was excellent; both singing and orchestra. Sandy was excellent too! What a great dog.

  • Annie was fantastic!

I saw this play as a child and took my own children to experience it. It was every bit as wonderful as I remembered, and my kids were glued to the stage. Ms. Hannigan stole the show! Great acting from all, but she was our favorite.

I loved the whole play and the characters played their parts as well as their singing was done to almost perfection.
