I brought my children, ages 7 & 9, and they loved it! My son, who did not want to go, couldn't believe how much he enjoyed the show. The performances were strong, and it was a great time. It does go late, though.

My 6 year old son and I really enjoyed this musical. We watched the Disney DVD at home several times so that he would be familiar with the story, and I have to say that the show exceeded my expectations! Great acting by the entire cast, superb singing, lots of funny moments. Costumes and scenery were also great. Both my son and I got teary eyed because the performance and music were so moving (and I am a pretty picky observer). We sat in row G (7th row) and had an amazing, up close view (purchased our tickets using a discount code and saved a lot by going on a weekday night). This one is a true classic- a must see by the entire family!!

  • Not Broadway material

Great theatre ! Although it was very warm inside......Brought our 2 children ages 4 & 7. The play started @ 7:30 and we left at 10:30. Longest intermission Ive ever experienced at the theatre. Posssibly because the audience was 85% children. The play was very average. A few of the kids were amazing ! The child that played Annie was not broadway caliber. There was not much expression and she seemed a little stage scared. For the amount of money that was spent, we expected more. The stage scences were pretty boring. Nothing great, couldve been put on by a high school theatre just as well. Grace & Ms Hannigan stole the show. Although I was pretty bored, my children still seemed to enjoy the show.

Talented cast, child actors were good, and lead sang very well, but is not as charming as other Annie's I've seen. Even though the article about her indicated she is touring for second year, didn't seem that way.

  • Annie was Vibrant!

Madison Kerth as Annie was a great choice. She and the youngest orphan had a great voice and belt out the songs in an impressive manner. Madison's representation of strength and endurance in the orphanage made you love her. Everyone's enthusiasm and acting made you want to sing out the songs along with the characters. The littlest orphan Mackenzie Aladjem is tiny in stature but a giant in her persona as the character of the littlest orphan. Her enthusiasm, her singing and her cartwheels were all such a great part of giving life to this musical. Lastly, (Sandy the dog) otherwise known as Mikey really impressed the children at the musical with his obedience and on cue acting.! !! My 8 year niece stated this was the best musical she has attended, and she has attended quite a few of them.

Seats were a little uncomfortable, but the views were fine. The girls screeched when they sang together, I believe it was the little oriental girl that had the screechy voice thank god she didn't have to many solos. However, the rest of the characters were wonderful especially enjoyed the orphanage mother.

Annie was a great show!! Too bad it's only in town for such a short period of time, or I would definitely go again. I took my 10 year old daughter and it captivated her attention from beginning to end. The young girls did a phenomenal job. And Miss Hannigan was hilarious. Definitely recommend it!

I took my mom and my 3 year daughter. Had a great time, but I think I would have waited to take her when she was a little older. She loved it but there were certain things that scared her.

I loved the play! If you were any Annie fan GO, if your weren't an Annie fan but like musicals with a little comedy thrown in, great actors, and great singers GO. If you have children older than 8 bring them along!

  • Miss Hannigan stole the show!

by chimom on 1/22/10Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Solid performances all around, but Miss Hannigan was our favorite. The show was longer than we expected, a full three hours, so probably wouldn't recommend it for kids on a school night.

  • Annie at the Auditorium

by morrissym on 1/22/10Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this play! We have seen Annie before, each performance different than the other. The girl who played Molly was fun to watch. She displayed such enthusiasm for her roll. The woman who played Mrs. Hannigan was TERRIFIC. We were thrilled to see so many moms with their young daughters, families (Moms, Dads, Brothers, and Sisters). The auditorium theater is a wonderful place to see any type of theatrical performance.
