The kids did an awesome job. Annie had a great job just as I remember as a child. Ms.Hannigan as very good. I also thought Rooster did outstanding job. Molly stole the show she was so cute.

The lead, Annie was amazing. She took the stage by storm and really made the musical come to life.

Annie is a great show for the whole family. It is funny and sweet. The young actresses do an impressive job. Miss Hannigan is hilarious.

  • Annie was a treat

I bought tickets to this play as part of my daughter's Christmas, so her expectations were pretty high going into it. I'm glad to say that our expectations were met. Our seats were in the middle of the balcony at the Auditorium theater, and the acoustics were fantastic. All the actors did a great job of projecting, and we were able to hear everything quite well. The orchestra sounded terrific as well. The only thing I would caution is that there are a lot of parents who take children that may be too young to enjoy a nearly 3 hour theatrical experience, and there were some moments that were interrupted by noisy children who had clearly had their fill. That's certainly no knock against the performance, but it did detract from the experience.

  • Good family entertainment

    by BradC66 on 1/24/10Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Annie was exactly what we expected - good family entertainment and sugary sweet. The cast and production quality were very good, with a fine performance from Madison Kerth as Annie. I was less enchanted with David Barton as Oliver 'Daddy' Warbucks whose portrayal seemed flat at times. In hindsight, perhaps that was the goal in bringing the sometimes grim Warbucks to life. Kudos to young Mackenzie Aladjem, whose adorable Molly was a constant scene stealer. Jeffrey Duncan's FDR also brought some of the night's best comedic moments. Finally, the best performance of the evening was Lynn Andrews as Miss Hannigan. Andrews' energy and humorous spin on the evil Hannigan had the whole theater loving the one one character we were supposed to hate!

  • Annie was okay!

by KBSBBB on 1/24/10Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

My kids really enjoyed the production, but I found it below typical big production broadway shows. Set designs were average. Barely a dance number! Could have been a much better show! It was no comparsion to Mary Poppins!

  • Annie was awsome

Everything about the show was amazing, from the warmth of the theater, to the attitude and attentiveness of the staff, to the seamless flow of the show. Everything came together to provide a world class show, in a world class city. It was very easy to lose yourself in the play, and forget the troubles of the world, and believe even if only for a couple of hours, " That the Sun will come out tomorrow".

  • ok, but.....

Much too long for chlldren. There was alot of squirming in the audience. A three hour production could have been stream lined a bit as this was geared towards families with kids.

  • The Sun did come out

The cast was incredible. Molly was amazing!!! I was not totally awed by Annie's performance - she is nasally and her voice was too loud and squeeky. Ms. Hanigan... stole the show!!! I took my 3 girls and they were amazed! For a touring show - the set designs were amazing.

  • Annie was a heartwarming experience!

Decided to take my daughter to see Annie for her 10th birthday. Front row seats! After having seen the movie more than 100 times with my girls, didn't know what to expect. Was NOT disappointed! The singing, the dancing, the sets, the costumes...5 star performances by all. My daughter was thrilled and told me she wanted to see it again. So grab your family and don't miss this one!

My daughters and I were so excited to see Annie. I think we built it up a little too much. We are big fans. We were all just a little disappointed. I guess we were expecting more of the movie. Sandy wasn't in it very much and they left out some of the popular songs. We still enjoyed the show, it just got a little long.

  • Annie was great fun!

Annie was great fun! We especially enjoyed the performance of Annie, Daddy Warbucks and Miss Hanngan. But the entire ensemble was great. It's a great story, although some was lost on all the little girls in the audience. The only drawback, for our family and the girls sitting near us, was the timing of the evening performance. We wish it had started about 6 PM; We could then have had an early dinner and the girls wouldn't have fallen asleep. Thanks for a great new memory of Annie!!

We took our 7 year old to see Annie and had a wonderful time.

  • If u know it you'll like it.

In a word, very good. If you are partial to the movie version, you will be disappointed with the appearence of Annie and Miss Hannigan but happy with their acting and singing ability. An 8 pm start is too late for the youngsters, as you are leaving the theatre at 11. My 5 year old loves the movie and we as parents have seen it many times over as well as memorized the songs, thru no fault of our own. Because of that fact, we knew the words going into the play, so despite the music over-riding the singing at some points, we still understood the physical nuances by the actors that coincided with the words. The story line follows the movie thru the first half and then deviates, though not unenjoyably, in the 2nd half. My daughter was mesmorized right up till she got sleepy towards the end. The play could have also eneded with more of a bang....maybe a song that everyone knew.

  • Annie was good, but not great.

by Roebuck on 1/23/10Fox Theatre Atlanta - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

The production was a little hokey. Annie said "Leapin Lizards" only once in the whole show. That's her signature saying. Not enough interaction with the dog and Annie. Also, there needed to be more dancing; tap, for sure. And less dramatic pauses with the actors in Act 2. The pace was too slow during the more intense moments. You can still express a serious moment, but keep it in rhythm of the show. This is Annie; keep it light and fun.
