The production was wonderful! Opening night and no gliches in a new theatre - only one tentative lift of a fly curtain. The whole cast was outstanding. Miss Hannigan played by Lynn Andrews was hilarious - fabulous timing and moves. Madison Kerth as Annie was/is truly a pro. She commanded the stage. The littlest orphan stole our hearts. Everyone else in the ensemble production brought strength to the show. Mikey as Sandy was right on cue. The sets were great (how they're transported and set up in different theatres is amazing). Technically, volume and lighting was right on target. All in all, Riverside should really be proud to bring such talent to the community. Fox Theatre is gorgeous! I hope that Southern California will take notice and flock to our stately venue.

Performance was good. Annie was a bit older than I thought. Seats where cramped, and souvenirs where way to expensive. I would rate it a 5 from 1 to 10 overall. Set was awesome, and music was good.

Having been born and raised in Riverside County, our entire party felt the Riverside Fox Performing Arts Center was fantastic. It's great to have this type of venue in the Inland Empire. The show was great too. My daughter has been an Annie Fan for years and to quote her....."the show was fabulous"!

We saw a Saturday matinee at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago (along with a huge percentage of kids in the audience). Both we and our daughters (grade school age) enjoyed it. Seats closer to the stage would have been great, since we couldn't see the faces of the performers and some of the spoken lines were tought to hear (we were in row T in the balcony). One thing to keep in mind: there were quite a lot of "damn"s in the show. Odd since it's clearly marketed to families. Overall it was an enjoyable performance.

We attended the play with my 5 yr old and 3 yr old. I think it was perfect for the 5yr old . She had seen the movie several times and was excited about it as was the younger one. However, the younger one did not have the attention span required for this almost 3 hour show. Overall it was a nice show and a great memory, but I will have to pick better seats next time.

This was a great event to take the family to. Watch our for the number of times "damn" is used. Most of the crowd was families and little kids. Overall, a must see for families with kids.

I took my 12 year old daughter to see Annie for her birthday in Chicago and we loved it. The young performers were awesome. The only part we didn't like was after intermission the sound wasn't that good in the upper balcony. It was very hard to hear. But all and all the play was great.

Annie was my favorite musical as a child so being able to go see the show with my own daughter was amazing. The theater was nice, clean, and cool. Our seats were good minus the fact that we had noisy little kids (about 3 or 4 years of age) behind us and a few big haired ladies in front of us making it tough for my 9 year old daughter to see. The show itself was awesome! The girl playing Annie was exceptional! She had the most amazing singing voice and had great acting abilities. Miss Hannigan was also amazing! The orchestra was awesome and it is a memory my daughter and I will have forever!

  • A solid performance

I went to see Annie with our two teenage girls. All of us enjoyed it quite a bit. The story is obviously timeless and the songs are great. We were a bit disappointed in the arrangement for Easy Street though. It has always been a family favorite but the tempo of the song this night was a bit too slow for our liking. The slower arrangement also seemed to hold back the cast and eliminate some of the personality that this song can provide. Otherwise the key actors were all workman like and did a fine job. Miss Hannigan is still a fun role and the actress for this particular show was excellent. I thought I detected a bit of nervousness from Annie herself when the show began but Hard Knock Life settled everyone down and the kids were fantastic.

The play and the venue were wonderful. Attended with my adult daughter who loved the movie as a child, we had high hopes for the play and were not dissappointed.

  • Most Enjoyable Play!

When the movie Annie first came out my daughter was 5 years old. I took her to see it, we had the soundtrack that we played all the time and she started off to school with the Annie lunch box and other merchandising. We have always loved the musical. Seeing Annie together, now that she is grown up, was such a special mother-daughter outing. We had a great time and absolutely loved the play. Everyone did a superb job. All the little "orphan" girls were fantastic. I missed that the song Dumb Dog was not part of the musical...but maybe that was just something included in the movie and not authentic to the play.

Annie was a great experience to share with my daughter. It threw her with the new songs and that the play was a little different from the musical she has on DVD but she enjoyed it.

My daughter and I went to see this play and we both truly enjoyed the performance. The whole cast was amazing and the time just flew by. The singing was wonderful and it was a joy to watch. I would recommend it for the whole family to see.

  • A Childhood Favorite Done Extremely Well

    by cwallace1980 on 1/25/10Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I bought tickets for my wife and I a few weeks back when I caught this show in the paper. My wife is a huge Annie fan, and I have pretty fond memories of it as well. The show was wonderful. Little Molly was absolutely adorable, and Annie was without a doubt the star. If you're one of those lucky enough to get tickets definitely do it.

  • Annie was ok at best

by bschicago on 1/25/10Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

I was very disappointed in this production. First of all the acting was overall, barely acceptable for a national tour. Annie and the orphans were quite good, and Warbucks was good overall, but the rest of the acting left a lot to be desired. The dog pretty much stole the show. Hannigan was horribly overacted and Grace and several other supporting actors' performances ranged from mediocre to horrific. Rooster was terrible. The actors in the Roosevelt scene chewed on the scenery so much I thought one might gag on stage. Playing for laughs is amateur, annoying, and made especially the second act drag on and on. Most of the singing was ok, but the choreography was pretty boring and uninspired. The production value was about as good as your average high school show. Corny backdrops, un-creative costumes and insufficient lighting at times. I saw a community theater children's show this weekend, and that had better sets and props. The sound was awful. I understand the Auditorium has difficult acoustics, but In the balcony, we could barely hear any of the dialogue. Even the ushers didn't do their jobs here. I was surrounded by parents who let their children bring food into the theater and was constantly subjected to their candy wrappers and crunching on skittles. But during intermission TWO ushers swarmed over to yell at a patron for taking a picture. During intermission. Terrible. All in all, I was disappointed with the venue but the show itself was mostly to blame. Boring and at times downright embarrassing. I expect much more for $40 a ticket. I do not recommend spending your money on this production. Rent the movie and enjoy.
