Five Star Show-Service Horrible As Usual

    by robinsluv4kids on 11/17/15Howard Theatre - Washington

I've been to the HT several times for both sitting and standing only shows. Once the artist hits the stage they give you what you came for but you can typically wait 30 mins+ past their scheduled time to start. That doesn't bother me if I'm sitting but if I'm standing I'm pissed because there is absolutely no where to sit. I can deal with all of that but what I can't seem to fig out is why in the hell the waiter service is so horrible, and hasn't improved in all of 2015. The food is always good, altho pricey but I know the prices so I'm prepared. Be rdy to loose it, snap, go off, growl, bark, curse and choke your waiter and all seem to do the same thing. Disappear, never bring u what u ask for, and this could b as simple as a small plate. So sad their table service has not improved. If there was a negative category, that's where their rating would be. Still not enough to stop me from going to a reasonably priced show for a 5-star artist you see up close and personal.

Fantastic show. Very personable, lots of great songs-- new and old. She really connects with the audience and knows how to move the crowd. Would definitely go see her again!

I have never been to B B Kings before. Angie put on a great performance. She was so personable. She made the audience feel like family. Loved the vibe it was definitely for the grown & sexy! We had dinner & drinks. Food was good, drinks were small (lots of ice) lol.

    Angie Stone was wonderful

by TrueMitch on 4/28/15Newark Symphony Hall - Newark

Angie is Angie and you can't say anything bad about her performance. It was my hope that her selection of songs were more rapid and energetic, so that audience would have been more involved. It was a really good show nevertheless!!!

    Hmm..

by ColaR1 on 4/28/15Newark Symphony Hall - Newark

Hi, I was thankful that we finally found a concert near home for Angie Stone. Though, we were set back by 1) Newark Symphony Hall and 2) the complete concert. Newark Symphony Hall did not honor our seats which were purchased with Ticketmaster in advance. Since the theatre was only half full, the venue decided to not open the balcony, which is where we purchased seats. We purchased these seats in the front row of the balcony so we could guarantee no one would be sitting in front of us. Newark Symphony Hall decided to fill us in with the seating on the 1st Flr and in the back. No. The concert was ok. Avery Sunshine and Lyfe Jennings did there thing. They were great and entertaining. On the otherhand Angie Stone and Bilal, were not. Angie Stone was the headliner and she played a lot of her older music. She was boring and unrelating. Bilal seemed like he was experimenting with music and was not engaging at all with the audience. I found myself yawning along with many other attendees. I am a fan of Angie Stone but her music selection was poor and the song "Take My Hand" was like 15 minutes. We didnt come to hear your backup singers sing unless she really 'brought the house down'. Clearly that was not the case. Angie Stone is a professional but maybe find out more about the demograhics of where you are performing. Perform songs that relate to the audience.

    Talented but.......

by Sybie on 4/3/15Birchmere - Alexandria

First time seeing......love her albums and voice. Attended with three other friends. We all agreed there was TOO much talking and most of her good stuff was not performed. We had high expectations but left feeling pretty much disappointed.....would not likely attend another concert!

    A. Stone show @ birchmere 3/29/15!

    by Nise0524 on 4/1/15Birchmere - Alexandria

The show was very enjoyable! Angie, her backup singers and band were all in tune with one another and simply amazing! She brought back old school and asked Master Gee of the Sugar Hill Gang to rap the anthem of all rap songs "Rappers Delight" and had the audience rapping along! :) I've always enjoyed shows at the Birchmere!!! Haven't attended a show yet, that I didn't enjoy!

    Angie Stone was phenomenal

by Akilangel on 4/1/15Birchmere - Alexandria

Best show I have seen in a while. Honest, interactive, spiritual, blunt, and encouraging. She had no problem relating her journey to the audiences journey. It was like hanging out with family. Her new album is going to be great. She let us listen to the first single. I had a great time. Cannot wait until she returns to the area.

Angie was fly and on FIRE - The opening act sucked

by divawidfevah on 3/31/15B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Angie Stone killed it. I only wish she had more stage time. She looked great, sounded great and her band and backup singers were the bomb.com. Bradd Marquis was the opeing act. I wasn't crazy about his performance he sang a bunch of songs written by other artists and didn't seem to have much original material and frankly sounded like a Las Vegas lounge singer. His band put on an equally lackluster performance. The keyboard player looked like he just crawled out of bed after his mother kicked him out the house for sitting around and smoking weed all day. He looked like he didn't want to be there. And what is up with these musicians going on stage in baseball caps, baggy jeans and sweats when people are paying $95 a ticket? I wish we could get back to the days of James Brown, when your band had to dress to impress and truly shine when they performed.

I have been to BB Kings NYC many times, but the Angie Stone concert was "something else". I'm assuming Angie was good; the people on the floor seemed to enjoy it.

Angie Stone's Backup Singers Were The Bomb!

by Anonymous on 3/30/15B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

First of all Angie Stone's opening act was on too long! When Miss Stone hit the stage I was expecting some good Neo-Soul music. What I got was too much talking and very little singing. Mid show she introduced her Backup Singer's and they stole the show. In less than a minute they hit notes and sang better than Miss Stone had in over 30 minutes! Angie had no comeback for them? She didn't even try to top them? Because she couldn't!!! Bravo Backup Singers, You ladies were the stars of that show!

Is there a playbook for these concerts?

by JSWins on 3/30/15B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

I thought the show was awful. I suppose the only constant is change. My point? Many years ago we had the privilege of watching a young(er) Ms. Stone perform in New Orleans. Perhaps she felt she had something to prove. She proved that she was worthy. At this recent show Miss Stone seemed to follow the new format for prominent female singers. Lots of smoozing with the audience. Very little singing. When she did sing it was brilliant. She is brilliant. Unfortunately she gone from performer to entertainer. Things change. Sadly.

    Great Show

    by LC55 on 8/19/13Howard Theatre - Washington

Angie Stone still has "the Voice" that wows her audience with that down home R & B flavor. She really connects with her audience with her old and new music that makes you feel like she is a friend, singing about your life. She tells her story, your story, my story , thru her music in a way that is always so relatable. Want her to come back to DC more often!

    Angie Stone

by Chelleski on 8/14/13B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Angie Stone was absolutely beautiful at the young age of 51. She was amazing on stage singing her old songs as well as the new songs on her new album. She went way back when she was Angie B, and had one of the ladies from the group come on stage and rap, from back in the day. She also invited Monifah on stage, and they both turned the show out. My friends and I enjoyed the show, again amazing performance, and I would see her in concert again.
