Angie was great, pre-show was HORRIBLE

by Dennis on 2/21/23Sony Hall - New York

We came to see Angie, but that "DJ" we had to endure for two hours prior was downright *awful*. We had to scream at each other at no more than 12 inches & still couldn't hear. The volume was painful to the ears as well (and probably harmful. People all around us were complaining as well. The DJ's routine might be proper in another venue, but not this one. He played some great songs but tortured them by constant screaming in to the mic at a painful level. We will not be back.

    Angie Stone

by Denise on 2/21/23Sony Hall - New York

It was truly a pleasure to see Angie Stone after so many years. She sang all of her hit songs: Brotha and No more rain. Her band was fantastic and so was the backup singers. The DJ was definitely a plus! He played oldies and put the crowd in the mood

Angie Stone show was a disappointment.

    by R. P. on 2/21/23Sony Hall - New York

The original show date was June/22. Now it 2/17/23. The show was canceled . Showtime is 7:30pm. Angie Stone grace the audience with her beauty around 8:30 pm after son little Timmy performed his Emo rap performance.l knew It was going to be bad performance. Angie sang 5 song. Was asking the audience to singalong. (I paid for her to perform ) Towards the end of the show. Angie Stone announced her new single . Played the new single over speakers . Said good night and walked off stage. Angie Stone was not on her A game. Angie has been out the game for awhile. It’s time for to hang it up. This is her last chance to get off the C + list.

A year+ wait & a lot of money for 1 hour of entertainment

by BrooklynBobby on 2/20/23Sony Hall - New York

Well Sony Hall is a nice place to see an entertainer I’ve been there several times and they’ve stepped up their game since last time I was there last. The menu is decent, prices are fair, food was good and service was excellent. My disappointment was as great as Angie Stone was the show was supposed to start at 7:30 she didn’t appear until 8:30 and it was over by 9:30. What happened? I waited a long time for this, through 2 previous postponements, and it wasn’t cheap and an hour of her performance? Plus the sound system was terrible at the beginning and all you could hear was the drums and not Ms Stone or the back up singers. They finally corrected it but it took a couple of songs. Again she was wonderful but it just wasn’t enough I’m wondering if it wasn’t all saved for the later show? Not good.

    Tired Performance

by KudB on 2/20/23Sony Hall - New York

Music overwhelmed the vocals. The artist performed a little more than an hour and sat thru a portion of that. No performer under 70, should sit during their performance unless under doctor’s order. While she sat she also conducted an audience sing along of songs that weren’t even hers. Didn’t come to hear the audience sing. Won’t be seeing her again.

    Prayers for Angie

    by K. P. on 7/25/22

My wife & I are HUGE Angie Stone fans. So when I heard she was coming to the Atlanta area around my wife's bday, it was a no brainer! But it pains me to have to leave this review for Angie. She did mention at the top of the show that she has been having medical issues but unfortunately she returned to the stage too early & was only a shell of herself. Throughout the entire concert she couldn't hold her notes (strained, airy, whisper like)-- either the background singers had to carry her or she would just have the audience sing. She had to sit down several times throughout & her set lasted less than an hour. I pray that Angie gets well & fully healed during her medical journey-- but during this time frame she shouldn't perform. I'm giving Angie two stars on the strength of the love we have for Angie & all that she's contributed to R&B. However if it was anyone else we'd have to give zero stars.

Angie was very engaging with the audience, went back and sang some of her classic's brought us up to her new release. I had been looking forward to attending one of her shows definitely worth it.
