  • All Is Calm was beyond expectations!

by Anonymous on 12/20/14Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Cantus provided the centering music supporting a cast of three playing out the words and feelings of the war stories experienced in an astoundingly creative way. Thank you for making our Christmas especially meaningful this year.

  • All is Calm was very moving

This performance was astounding! Cantus was fantastic, as always. Their a cappella harmony is amazing. The soldiers' words were poignant. The presentation was very moving. My macho-man husband was in tears, remembering his Christmases in the service, far from home.

  • Beautiful story

by mamabearT on 12/20/14Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the way this story was presented with a minimal set. The production transported you back in time. It is a must see.

I didn't know what to expect when I went to this play but the experience was amazing. It truly did prove that if left in the hands of the right people, peace is a true possibility. The singing was absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend going to see this play but maybe a little research as to what to expect is also recommended.

  • All is Calm - What a disappointment

by paxman1 on 11/21/14The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 1 out of 5

No imagination, no creativity! Listening to a group of men singing acapella for 90 minutes with virtually no movement and no visual effects ? Was boring the objective here? How about dividing the stage into American/British - No Man's Land - Germans? How about an American actually talking to a German, sharing family photos? This concert was like listening to a radio show. It didn't matter if you sat in the first row or by the lobby door as there was nothing to see. I realize this was not a play, but still, a little effort in dramatization for this historical event would have gone a long way toward making the show a memorable one.

The best Christmas Play I have seen. Shows true brotherly love no matter how short. Makes you wonder what the world would look like if the Christmas Truce of 1914 would have been allowed to last. Shows the folly of a few against the good of man.

  • All is calm

Expected more. Voices were beautiful but no choreography. Songs at the beginning was the same caliber to the end. No grand finale, not enough emphasis placed on the fact that this was Xmas. All wars are hell but the one overiding aspect of this one was that it was Xmas. The music superb but just expected a little more.

  • Incredible story

loved it, so well done. Such a beautiful story told with such simplicity.

  • Cantus and Theater Latte Da were great

by PatrickEndicott on 11/21/14The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Cantus and Theater Latte Da were great. They were more than equal to the task of presenting one of the greatest events in the history of mankind, the Christmas Truce of 1914. The pathos and the historical accuracy were right on target. They all handled the English, Scottish, and German accents and culture superbly. I only wish millions could see this.

  • All is Calm; all is a night to remember!

by thedivasophiac on 11/21/14The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

Great concert with enough drama to pull at your heart and enough laughter to keep it from becoming maudlin. The voices were clear and true and the audience was transported to that fateful night 100 years ago when Christmas stopped a war, if only for a few precious hours. Don't miss this!

  • All is calm..fantastic

Music was enchanting and the story was amazing especially knowing it was true. Love hearing letters from actual soldiers.

  • Disappointed

Cantus very good. Extremely short program. Had been highly recommended by a friend but was just average. Touching and a Christmas event.

  • Beautiful Singing

by Anonymous on 12/26/13Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

We weren't sure what to expect, but when the singing began, we were enthralled. Absolutely breathtaking singing and what a wonderful story weaved between the songs. I'd love to see this again.

  • Singing Magical

by Unitarian on 12/25/13Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This is an excellent musical in an unusual setting- World War one wartime. It is based upon real events. The acting was very professional. The customs were simple army uniforms. The finest part of the production was the music- great voices and fine songs. At the end a person has a real feeling for what the soldiers were going through bit also who very " human " they were.

  • Cantus was magical!!

by Debbjoy on 12/25/13Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Such a moving story. Absolutely loved All is Calm. Cantus and their magical voices, and the staging and music. Beautiful, and will plan to see it again next year.

  • Perfect intonation, perfect diction

    by MEM19 on 12/25/13Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Wow! Cantus is an incredible choral ensemble! And when they tackle a topic with the depth of the Christmas Truce of 1914, the results are very powerful indeed! Highly recommended!

  • All is Calm a wonderful Christmas story

    by winona15 on 12/25/13Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

A reminder of all the unrest throughout the world and those who are still fighting for freedom. If only the peace that happened on Christmas Eve so many years ago could be happening among people each and every day. What a better world this would be

  • It was educational

My wife and I both remarked at how little we had known about the story. The play and music was great. The after show opportunity to visit with the director and some of the cast was very good. Thanks!
