Disney’s ALADDIN is a dazzling and extravagant showcase of special effects — including a flying magic carpet during “A Whole New World” — as well as glittering-gold costumes and art deco-style sets that mirror the grandeur of a Busby Berkeley musical. One of Broadway’s most popular musical comedies, the show opened at the legendary New Amsterdam Theatre on March 20, 2014, and has since broken numerous house records (grossing over $500 million on Broadway). Eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken composed the show’s music. The lyrics are by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), as well as three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice and six-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin. The book is by Beguelin and direction/choreography is by two-time Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw.

excellent the genie was the best and should come out last he was the show
One of the most entertaining Disney shows I have ever seen. Right up there with beauty and the beast, little mermaid and lion king. Grandchildren lived it (ages 4.1/2, 6,7,8) Sat in center rear mezzanine. Only place I could get 10 ticketd. Was concerned but ended up being excellent seats,
Aladdin was quite a disappointment for my entire family. First off, the genie wasn't blue! Although he was entertaining, he was so out of breath more than mid way through "a Friend Like Me" that this was not what you expect to find on Broadway. Second, the sets were very flat. It looked like something you would find at a very good high school play. In addition, the costumes were just okay. Jafar had a simple black cape that again looked very simple and not Broadway material (no pun intended). Also didn't like that the monkey was included in the play at all!! We all had something different that we were disappointed in! Skip this one!!
After many failed attempts by Disney to bring there movies to Broadway, Such as Little Mermaid, & Jungle Book. Aladdin nailed it. Aladdin was one of the best plays I have seen in a long time. The song "Friend Like Me" was a show stopper. The cast tried to continue on cue but the audience was still showing there appreciation of their talents. Will go again.
what a fun night with aladdin! laughs, music, talent galore and lots of sparkle. genie was so much fun and brought so much life to the scenes he was in. great performances by all and wonderful ensemble!
For the naysayers that thought no one could do justice to Robin Williams as the Genie, you MUST see James Monroe Iglehart in Aladdin - he has claimed the role for his own. Purists may object to the broad interpretations of Iago and Abu, but overall the performance was thoroughly enjoyable. some added musical numbers, and breathtaking presentation of "A Whole New World." Our whole family went, ages 12-75 and we were all on our feet. Must see!
Aladdin has it all! Comedy, romance and heart! Huge numbers and gorgeous costumes! JMIgelhart is unforgettable as the genie! The magic is fantastic! And Courtney and Jacob as Jasmine and Aladdin are incredible! Go see the show!!
I am a huge fan of Disney and this exceeded all expectations. All the characters were very well cast and did an amazing job. This is definitely a show I would go to multiple times if I lived local.
We loved the show. My granddaughter and I both laughed. The performances were terrific, the choreography was great and the costumes too. All in all, one of the best musicals I've seen in a while.
For a Disney show I was expecting more. I had a good time but overall, left feeling that the show lacked. I'll start with the cons. Cons Set design - could have done more with the Agrabah marketplace scene. Maybe this is because I saw it in preview week but the set seemed almost half-finished. Disney did a much grander job with the Little Mermaid. Prince Ali song - Could have done more. I was expecting a grand procession/parade dance number. Again, the set here was lacking. They could have done more with props/set design but they focused more on the dancing. Jasmine - Was not a very convincing actress. Has a beautiful voice but did not really sell the role of Princess Jasmine. Pros The Genie - The funniest part of the show. I was laughing at every third thing he said. If nothing else, he made it worth seeing. Dance Numbers - I will say that all the dance numbers were very well-choreographed. Especially the "Never Had a Friend Like Me" dance number. Overall, I expected something more colorful, festive, and grander given that this was a Disney production. It wasn't bad and at the end of the day I'm glad I saw it, but I don't think $100 per ticket was worth it. Should've seen Phantom instead.
This show was great!! A great theatrical experience for Disney lovers!! The Genie was incredible!
It was just an awesome show. Non stop laughter! The costumes were amazing, sets were incredible and the cast was superb. The Genie was hilarious! Really one of the best shows I have seen on Broadway. I can't wait to go again. It was worth EVERY penny!
This is a must see show for the whole family. The whole cast is just phenomenal!!! They are all so multi talented! The singing and dancing and humor... Yes, some parts were very funny!!! I truly belly laughed. I brought my 10 year old daughter to see it for her Birthday. I am now going back with my two older sons and my husband. And of course my daughter wants to see it again!!! Please don't walk... Run to see this show. It's that good!!!
Another great Disney musical. Thoroughly enjoyed the show. Has all the great original songs and new ones!
My wife and I had a great time. The cast was wonderful, amazing and their voices were clear and beautiful. The costumes are bright, outstanding with amazing special effects. The genie became my wife's best friend. Great musical score. A must see for everyone. ..!!!
Great Disney show.. very entertaining ..gliyzy with style.. Lots of fun !!
I purchased tickets for my family of 5 as a Christmas present well before the opening in March. We were not disappointed in this rendition of the Disney classic. The costumes, scenery and dancing were fantastic. While the musical deviated somewhat from the film my kids know and loved as youngsters, the story line stayed true and was a pleasure to experience live. The addition of Aladdin's three friends in lieu of his monkey companion, Abu, made the musical even more lively and fun. We loved all the actors, who were so talented, particularly the Genie, Jafar (the original voice actor from the film) and Iago. This is a must see for all Disney families.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Excellent performers. Snazzy sets, costumes and production values. The fondly-remembered songs from the movie are well performed. Some, but not all, of the newly added music was tuneful - others I could not hum twenty minutes after the show. Volume is too loud - amplification does not equal quality.
Flawless and impeccable musical. Thoroughly entertaining.
The show was outstanding! Costumes, sets, music, acting - all unbelievable! Truly a wonderful show, for children and adults as well! Loved it.
