About

ADAM CAROLLA is best known as a comedian, actor, radio personality, television host and NY Times best-selling author. He currently hosts The Adam Carolla Show, which holds the Guinness Book of World Records title for “most downloaded podcast," and was recently a star on NBC's Celebrity Apprentice.  His latest book, Not Taco Bell Material, was released in June 2012 from Random House Publishing.

Adam started The Adam Carolla Show podcast with only a computer and a microphone from his home office in February 2009.  That year the podcast was named iTunes #1 Podcast of 2009, and it has only grown since then.  The podcast receives more than five million downloads a month and has been featured in Fast Company Magazine, Entrepreneur, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times. Adam’s immediate success prompted him to launch an entire online network, ACE Broadcasting in February 2010, which produces many of iTunes' top podcast programming.

Adam became a New York Times best-selling author when his book, In 50 Years We'll All Be Chicks, topped the charts for ten weeks. The audio version went straight to the #1 position on iTunes and remains there today. His new e-book, Rich Man Poor Man, is now available on iTunes.

Before running his online empire, Adam hosted The Adam Carolla Show on CBS radio stations in Los Angeles, Portland and Las Vegas. The four-hour weekday morning program was syndicated in several major markets, including Seattle, Sacramento and Fresno.

Adam has also starred on ABC's hit reality series Dancing with the Stars, hosted Comedy Central's Too Late with Adam Carolla and starred in TLC's The Adam Carolla Project, which chronicled the renovation and subsequent sale of his boyhood home.

Following brief stints as a skilled carpenter and boxing trainer, Adam began his career in radio after answering an ad seeking a boxing instructor to train then radio personality Jimmy Kimmel of KROQ's Kevin and Bean Show in Los Angeles. He eventually joined the show's repertoire as “Mr. Birchum,” a wood shop teacher. Adam’s success on KROQ led to a hosting job on the nationally syndicated radio program Loveline with Dr. Drew Pinsky. MTV developed a television version of the show, which was co-hosted by Adam and Dr. Drew for five seasons (1996-2000). The duo also authored The Dr. Drew and Adam Book: A Survival Guide to Life and Love.

With his partners Daniel Kellison and Jimmy Kimmel, Adam heads Jackhole Industries, and created and starred in two hit Comedy Central shows, The Man Show and Crank Yankers.

A native of Southern California, Adam currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Lynette, and their twins.

Great show, great venue. The Adam Carolla Show is an incredibly entertaining podcast that is just as entertaining in person. The banter and improv are second to none.

Funny at times, but other podcast members detracted from show.

With the exception of maybe Howard Stern, there is no person funnier off-the-cuff than Adam Carolla. That's why I'm such a big fan.

It was awesome to see Adam Carolla live! Alison Rosen and the bald one where there too. It was such a great experience and to see the show live instead of listening to the podcast through my headphones. Mike Rowe was a great guest!

The theater was beautiful, the staff was friendly & helpful, & the Aceman was incredible ! you have to see him live, he's fast & funny, is cool enough to hangout after the show for a picture w/you.

  • Adam Carolla was very funny good show

    by pete199 on 10/1/13Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 4 out of 5

The show was very good with Adam doing a great deal of reminiscing of how he got into the business and the success he has had and the work he has done with Jimmy Kimmel and some of the funny moments they have had together. One disappointment was the intermission that was taken in the middle of the show. I think he was on a roll, then had to take a break. I believe this was driven more by the Genesse Theater wanting to sell more drinks then Adam needing a break. I think he could have gone on all evening talking about the past and funny items in his life.

His best stuff was the stuff he prerecorded with others. And his only real funny stuff were his jimmy kimmel stories and stories from other friends. Stories were drawn out and went off on tangents.

  • Corolla stunk

by petkow on 10/1/13Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 1 out of 5

I had a great seat for a mediocre show. Adam lacked continuity and fluidity in his presentations. Stories were broken fragments of streaming thoughts which lacked consistency, and did not flow. Sorry I attended. I have been to the Genessee for other shows, and have not been this dissatisfied with any other performer as I was with this "comedian". He sounded as if he needed cue cards to continue his train of thought on nearly all topics he tried to relate to the audience. Would not see him again, in person live,or listen to on his radio show or blog. Oh well.

  • Loved Jay Mohr but didn't love Adam as much

by LBCHIC on 8/20/13The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

This event was great but I loved Jay Mohr so much more than Adam Carolla. It was a bummer that Jay only did a 15 minute routine and he was supposed to do 25 minutes. He was hilarious! Was laughing till I was crying when he was out. Adam was good and funny but I did not understand his break-down of the 6 Fast & Furious movies. That was totally random. Then the Q&A at the end kinda went on a bit long...plus they didn't let that many people ask questions. Jay and Adam gave too long of answers and then I think they ran out of time. Overall it was good, but I wanted to see more Jay Mohr!

  • Carolla & Mohr At Wiltern

by RobAlb on 8/7/13The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

If you are a fan of either Adam or Jay, then you have to, by default, be a fan of both. Their yin and yang comedic geniuses dovetailed perfectly as they hit the funny volleys back and forth as if a poorly morphed, hypervigilant Pete Sampras were trading slices with a flannel-shirted Bjorn Borg returning from a weekend of cigarettes and napping followed by a quick stop at Fantastic Sam's to trim his golden locks. Carolla effortlessly delivered the signature rapier comedic rants and Mohr complemented perfectly with the hilarious anecdotes and trademark impressions that their fans no doubt came to enjoy. The only minor disappointment was Mohr's abbreviated 15 minute opening set for which he later apologized, explianing to Adam amd fans that he exited early, fearing he might step on Adam's stage time. He more than made up for this hiccup with his requisite obscure yet spot-on incarnations of the likes of Colin Quinn, Tracy Morgan, Harvey Keitel, Chris Walken, and Mommagotitall, Carolla's overprotective, overweight, underinformed mother of color. On second thought, a second minor disappointment--the unnecessary onstage appearance alongside Carolla of Bill Simmons the sports guy, a longtime Kimmel/Carolla gang alumus, to recreate their comedic dissection of the Fast & Furious franchise, also sold as an online download to Carolla fans on his website. No doubt a comfortable and familiar vehicle (no pun intended) for Carolla to flex his Vin Dieselesque arm buttered comedy guns (pun intended), but Simmons, a nice enough dude-bro, is no match for Carolla in the satire department and seemed to slow Carolla's rhythm like blown shifts around traffic cones in the road. Carolla could have effortlessly driven that comedy car solo like Diesel behind the wheel of a tricked out Mazda Rx-7 full of NOS. A definite thumbs up for this home run evening of comedy and Mangria played out between the art deco walls of the Wiltern. Hoping it will be a yearly event as Mohr suggested at the conclusion of the night.

The show was funny and enjoyable. The biggest disappointment was that my seat was broken.

  • Adam Carolla was hilarious!

Fantastic show, but could have done without the jack ass sitting behind us talking and yelling through the whole thing!!!!

  • by LucyGooseyAugust on 8/6/13The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

Loved the first half. Not the second though. They really need to work on the improve part. TheQ&A was childish.

  • Not that funny, bad guests, terrible crowd

by DrewRB on 8/6/13The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 1 out of 5

I listen to Adam's podcast all the time, and I assumed that most people took him with a grain of salt. Turns out his fans really buy into everything he says. How does sitting with a bunch of middle aged bigots who love complaining about the government sound to you? Annoying? Well it is. The guy next to me got drunk and started calling a stranger a "f4gg0t" because he asked him to be quiet. Adam Carolla's fans everybody... A large part of why I went was to see Adam and Bill Simmons go over 80's movies. Their podcast have been very funny. The live show not so much. Adam stepped all over Bill's lines and didn't allow for any flow. They re-hashed some of the talking point from the Fast & Furious podcasts and that was it. Very disappointing. Jay Mohr was so out of touch. I guess he has a fan base, but his whole bit was complaining about how bands from the before the nineties like to talk during performances, and he feels that paying $900 to see U2/ Pearl Jam/Rolling Stones should entitle him to to skip this. Well, I paid $60 to see an old dude (Jay Mohr) complain about spending money to watch bands that haven't released an album in over a decade. I guess that the joke is on me, but it's still doesn't make him funny. Jay also did a bit on foreigners telling him what to do. The crowd loved it. What's with idiots worrying about people telling them what to do. They just do what they want anyway, no one makes them do anything, despite being overweight/undereducated/unemployed. Maybe being told what to do would be a good thing. Jay then closed with a bunch of impressions that kind of sucked. So in summary, don't go to these live shows of Adam's. Download Adam's podcast, that's funny. Don't buy into a 100%, and avoid hanging out with Adam's fan base, they suck.

  • Good--with hic ups

    by golfman211 on 8/6/13The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

Jay Moore opened and was great....for all of 15 minutes, then after some "dead air" Adam came on and was great........then the Q&A and the show drifted into oblivion. Love the Wiltern, but really $20.00 a drink for well vodka?

  • Too Short

by watchmeplay on 8/6/13The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

First off it started late. Second, we bought a Mangria - $10 for a tiny glass - not worth it. Tasted really bad. Jay Mohr came out first and he was funny! I loved his comedy very fluid and downright funny, but he was only out there for a little while - NOT LONG ENOUGH. Then Adam Carolla came out. Started out slowly - snooze fest. Got a little better as he went along. Enjoyed the skit "Things I really hate." Then there was an intermission. 2 bathrooms available for over 100 women!!! Long line. After the intermission they both came out to answer questions. That back and forth bantery was fine, but again, not long enough. Adam Carolla wanted to cut Jay Mohr off and he kept looking at his watch. All in all not a good value. Tickets were very expensive and show was mediocre.
