Ralphie Parker wants only one thing for Christmas: An Official Red Ryder® Carbine-Action 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle. A Christmas Story, The Musical is the hilarious account of Ralphie’s desperate quest to ensure that this most perfect of gifts ends up under his tree this Christmas.
Directed by Tony Award®-winner John Rando and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, this new Broadway musical based on the classic 1983 movie, which itself was based on stories by legendary radio humorist Jean Shepherd, features funny and heartfelt songs by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul and a faithful yet inventive book by Joseph Robinette.
The New York Times says, “I WAS DAZZLED” and the Associated Press calls it, “A CHARMING TRIUMPH INFUSED WITH UTTER JOY.” A Christmas Story captures holiday wonder with such deliciously wicked wit that it is sure to delight children and grown-ups alike!

I was having second thoughts before seeing this but it was awesome Story line, performances, set! Great job. Highly Recommend.
This show was amazing ! The show far exceeded my exceptations. The music was great!! And the cast was unbelievable!! So much talent! From my 6 yr old to my 71 year old mother in law , we all left singing!! Dan Lauria does a great job as narater, but it's really the cast of kids who steal the show! Don't miss it!
Went to see this with my entire family. Loved the sets and the cast. The leg lamp number was very creative. Great entertainment.
We loved this musical from start to finish. They did a wonderful job relating the musical to the movie and book. Dan Lauria was exceptional--awesome! He was so into the story and you actually did feel it was his life. All the cast was so well suited to their roles. The music was outstanding. Just amazing!! GO if you have a chance!!! Happy Holidays!! We ALL need laughter and the feeling of Christmas with your parents!!! ( I am so sorry if you did not have a special Christmas growing up but this is the story, the dream and it will make you feel like you have now experienced it and will make new traditions in your life now) Simple pleasures with much love... Thank you to all of A Christmas Story the Musical!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent, very true to the movie a definite must see if you love Christmas and the movie
This was a wonderful show! While I missed some parts that were left out (from the movie), all the major plot points were there. The children, especially Ralphie, were just awesome! Go grab your kids, friends, family and see A Christmas Story: the Musical. I triple dog dare you!!! :)
Great for all ages! So much fun! Hope it becomes a yearly holiday show event
Great for "kids" of all ages! Children actors were all very good, as were the adults. You could tell they were having as much fun as the audience. Perfect for the holiday season!
The cast was fantasic, loved the dancing, even the dogs we all loved. The story line was so true to the original story, My family looks forward to Christmas Eve when Christmas Story plays 24 hrs on TV, so to actually go to a Broadway Show and watch the in person, with great seats, was a double for us. We all will never forget this great show. After it was over, we all waited outside for pictures and autographs, they came out quick and everyone was so happy to actually chat with everyone, and take photos too. Couldn't ask for a better night, thank you so much!!
We'd only seen the movie once more than a decade ago, so we'd forgotten lots of the inside jokes...but we still very much enjoyed seeing this musical. The 2nd half is definitely much stronger than the 1st (which is still enjoyable). Impressive use of real dogs! Super-talented and cute kids! The narrator (who was brilliant in "Lombardi") adds weight and poignancy to this definitely recommendable holiday show. Oh, and the hardcore lovers of the film, like the one seated next to us, were on their feet with an immediate and passionate standing ovation...We happily joined them in thanking the cast for a wonderful performance! [4 1/2 stars]
A wonderful musical version of the iconic film, this production has first rate singers and dancers working the snappy tunes written by Univ of Michigan grads Pasek and Paul. All your favorite scenes from the movie are here. A wonderful family show that will entertain young and old alike. Sure to become an annual event.
Bad songs, schmaltzy, see movie instead. One of my least favorite Broadway shows in years.
A good friend of mine recommended that I go and see A Christmas Story. As a single woman in my 60s, I usually avoid Broadway around Holiday time. I do not like the sappy stories and the usual elves and Santa jokes. This show was such a treat! The cast was marvelous. Dan Lauria was fantastic as the narrator. Everyone in the show was perfectly cast. The bloodhounds were especially endearing. Lol Johnny Rabe but as Ralphie stole the show. His stage presence is unbelievable. John Bolton and Erin Dilly played the parents to perfection. Caroline O'Connor was hilarious as the teacher. A Christmas Story is a perfect treat for all ages. The music will have you singing your way out of the theater. What a happy way to start the holiday season.
I saw the show and had the movie in my head the entire time to compare it to. It held true to the plot very well, but the more elaborate musical and dance numbers took away from the simple charm of the movie. The cast did a great job bringing the movie to the stage. Ralphie should have been a blonde though, not a blondish brown.
A Christmas Story has been my favorite movie since I first saw it in theaters, as a little girl, with my daddy sitting by my side, in 1983. While I didnt hesitate to purchase these tickets, I was nervous that the musical wouldnt live up to my high standards. Well, no reason to be nervous at all! The show was incredible. My 8 guests and I thoroughly enjoyed the show; it was such a thrill to see. Of course the musical numbers are an addition to the storyline, but they are a nice touch. I would recommend this to any 'A Christmas Story' die hard. You wont be disappointed.
This show was awesome. I'm not theater maniac like many of my friends but if you love the movie then you should definitely see the show. The cast does an excellent job translating the idiosyncrasies of each character from the movie to the show! And the Bumpus dogs are hilarious!
The talented children were truly entertaining and did a fabulous job! The show was well produced and the music and orchestration were wonderful! We laughed and smiled throughout the show!
Really funny, even for those who don't like the movie! Great for the whole family!
I highly recommend for a holiday play in New York CIty!
