A Christmas Story: The Musical was a great show! It is a classic for all ages. My husband and I enjoyed it as much as my eight year old granddaughter and my fifteen year old nephew. So glad we saw it!
It was great! I took my parents (in their 50's) my husband and children (9 and 12) They all loved it. We have been fans of the movie for years and they did a great job at scene changing. The songs were catchy and we actually bought the CD from the musical!
As a huge fan of A Christmas Story the movie and the works of Jean Shepherd that inspired it, I was very concerned that a musical version might be a let down -- a shoddy replica of the truly glorious originals. Thankfully, I was way off track. The show pays enormous respect to the movie and Shepherd's wisdom and wit. The music is fabulous - a classic old-fashioned score that fits perfectly with the period and gets your toes taping and smile brimming from ear to ear. The book and score tell a wonderful, witty tale of a Christmas that you, like the Ralphie and the Parkers, will never forget. The show is hilarious and heartwarming, and leaves you filled with nostalgia for the Christmas dreams of your youth. Superb acting, outstanding singing and choreography, and eye-dropping sets and costumes complete this fantastic Christmas wonderland. Go see A Christmas Story the Musical, and plunge into a Christmas cornucopia of fun!
Wasn't sure how they were going to adapt it to a musical, but they did a great job. The film is a favorite of my father-in-law and he thoroughly enjoyed it. The kids are amazing.
The musical was wonderful! It was so COOL seeing the best parts of the movie come to life on stage and keeping to the true contents of the original movie. All the characters were SUPERB! I would see it again!
i took my daughter to this as it's her favorite christmas story - didn't really expect much, but i was really impressed with this show. the cast, the songs, the sets, the music, the props, the way the story flowed. fantastic. bravo!
A Christmas Story is one of the best movies ever so I was worried as to if they would flub it up in a musical, but I was not let down. Awesome, just Awesome!
We drove two hours through the country to watch this play, it was so disappointing! The whole production came of like a corny vaudeville review. The acting was over the top, the sound effects man was irritating, and the score was not very melodic and quite forgettable. Did I mention the pit orchestra and the vocals being a bit out of tune? Save your money and rent the movie version with Darren McGavin.
It was funny, spirited and well-performed. Had our family laughing out loud from ages 70+ down to 13. Great family night.
The bar is set very high for this production. People know these characters and have very specific expectations. This cast made the story their own and performed it with great joy and a sense of fun. Beyond the movie, I've read many of Jean Shepherd's books so that makes me an even tougher sell. They pulled if off! Fantastic show, go see it!
This was my first real stage performance. I found it fun and funny, and I am so glad that we went. It was entertaining, and the cast was so talented.
Excellent play. Loved all of it. The barking dogs the tire nuts flying in the air.

I wasn't aware that there was a Christmas Story Musical. We took the family away for a few days. There was a flyer about the Musical and I thought since we all loved the movie that it would be great to see the musical. I have a 13yr old and a 7yr old and this was their first Musical. It was a great family event. The kids are still talking about the muscial 3 days later!!
funny, entertaining, a great musical. the cast was great!
This is not high culture or even the best musical I've seen but it was funny, warm and captured the heart and spirit of the original story and movie. The cast, particularly the children, were wonderful. Spend your time and money. You won't regret it.
