  • Christmas Carol was great!

by HayesFan on 12/4/11Meadow Brook Theatre - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

The play was great. The set was very nice and the actors and actresses were amazing. The seats were comfortable too. Parking was free and close to the building. It said no children under 5 but there were parts of it that I would not want a child who was under 10 to see. It can be kind of scary for young children. It held my attention for the entire time. Loved it!

Outstanding play. The entire cast was wonderful and the actor playing Scrooge was excellent. A nice way to begin the Christmas Holidays!

I bought the tickets for my Mother-in-laws Birthday. She was thrilled and truly enjoyed the show. As well as my sister and sister-in-law.

  • Meadowbrook does 'A Christmas Carol' right!

by VisitorFromDetroit on 11/29/11Meadow Brook Theatre - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

Meadowbrook Theatre has been performing 'A Christmas Carol' for 30 years, and does a great job at it! Carolers were performing in the lobby beforehand, putting the crowd in a holiday mood. The theatre has new, comfortable seats, all of which offer a great unobstructed view that does not require binoculars! The cast is fantastic. Scrooge looks, talks and acts like Scrooge. The Ghosts of Christmas Present, Past and Future are wonderful. The cast is large, but consistently talented every year. The sets are large, detailed and spin to match the story line. This is one of the least expensive theatre treats in metro Detroit that a whole family can enjoy, and should, at least once.

  • christmas tradition

by Anonymous on 12/6/10Stranahan Theater - ToledoRating: 4 out of 5

A Christmas Carol was very good for a holiday show. LOVE the fact that there are a lot of songs sung-was not expecting that at all. Mostly traditional songs that you already know all put into a story. Scrooge was amazing. A true talent to get the story across. A fun show for everyone. All ages would appreciate this story---for young ones though, it would be good to read the book first.

I have seen this play in years past... It was alright. I had seats in the 3rd row and I believe that is too close! I was there to enjoy a performance, everyone else around me was there to see their child/grandchild perform. I would have enjoyed it better from the balcony where I would have a great view and I would not be able to notice every little mistake. It was a great "date-night" and it set the mood for the holidays. Next year I hope to see the Nutcracker.

This was my 4th time seeing this production performed by the Toledo Rep and I wasn't disappointed! Seeing this production is a wonderful way to kick off the Holiday Season!

  • A Christmas Carol - A little slow paced for kids

    by BahHumbug1 on 12/1/10Ohio Theatre - ColumbusRating: 3 out of 5

My wife and I enjoyed A Christmas Carol and thought that our kids would also enjoy it. We have a son who is 9 and a daughter who is 5. Both are very interested in live theatre. The first act was long and at times boring for them. I have to admit too that there were times when I thought the first act wouldn't end and that it was moving a little slower than I would have liked. The second act moved quicker and was more interesting for everyone... Overall we left the Play with a good attitude and experience. The kids were able to tell us the parts they liked, but also remembered there were things they didn't like (like the pace of Act 1).
