    A Christmas Carol was delightful!

by Candel on 11/30/10Ohio Theatre - Columbus

Going to the Christmas Carol at the Ohio Theatre has become a family tradition to get us into the holiday spirit. This year's performance was one of the best ever! The costumes were beautiful, the staging amazing (how do they get that bed to move like that?!) and the voices superb. The acting was the best of all. Each role was "owned" by each of the actors and actresses as they provided their unique interpretation. Thoroughly entertaining! Bravo!

    Christmas Carol

by Anonymous on 11/30/10Ohio Theatre - Columbus

We have tried to get tickets for several years and it just didn't work out. It was well worth the wait! What a wonderful performance. The ease with which the stage managers and actors moved through all the changes was amazing. Excellent acting, wonderful music, delightful and talented children...it was a wonderful way to usher in the Christmas season. One difficulty...we were in the front area of the loge and had a problem hearing. I believe one reason was that the orchestra overpowered the singers. Had we not been well acquainted with the story, we would have missed some important lines... This has not been a problem at other performances.

The show was very good; however, we liked it a liitle better two years ago. The kids missed the dancing dolls.

Christmas Carol Has Become and Annual Custom

    by blujay63 on 11/30/10Ohio Theatre - Columbus

When the curtain goes up on The Nebraska Theater Caravan's A CHRISTMAS CAROL you can hear and feel the audience's excitement. Though the sets are relatively simple, they are elegantly done, and combine with the period costuming to instantly transport the viewer to Dickens' day. The Caravan's insistence on using essentially the same script each year gives the feeling of visiting with an old and dear friend. And the music! I told myself I'd not cry when the ensemble sang SUSANNI, but they broke my resolve (once again.) I'm going to order the CD that is now available, not just for that song...but for all the richly textured arrangements. This show is for the entire family and, for us, has become the only way to begin this blessed season.

    A Christmas Carol

by ryansonwallst on 11/30/10Ohio Theatre - Columbus

The performance was fantastic! My husband and daughter were not as excited to go as I was, but after the event my daughter (a teen) actually thanked me for getting the tickets and going because she thought it was AWESOME! Quite a review from a teen! We loved it--the acting, the singing, the set. I would definitely recommend it to ANYONE!

    CHRISTMAS CAROL-BAH!!!!

by ROBSCMH on 11/30/10Ohio Theatre - Columbus

The production seemed well put together but left me unmoved. It appeared as though the cast were going through the motions. The scene where Scrooge was dead and was being robbed by the two ladies was DREADFUL. I contemplated walking out at this point. The voices were annoying, and it went on forever. Positive note is the sets and lighting & costumes were great.

My husband and I really loved the play The Christmas Carol. The actors were really "UP" for the performance and it really came through. Very well done!

The play, "A Christmas Carol", itself was very good but the sound system was the worst in any play that I have ever been to. At times, you could not understand a thing that was said. When you cannot understand what they are saying, you lose interest very easily.

A Christmas Carol was good but hard to hear.

by darkoverlord on 11/29/10Ohio Theatre - Columbus

We had trouble hearing the play. They needed to either turn up the microphones or have more microphones. We were in the front of the loge.

    Enjoyable experience!

by buhs on 11/29/10Ohio Theatre - Columbus

First of all...the Ohio Theater is beautiful! It's one of those places that you just set and stare at all the awesome things. The organist was also wonderful...so many different sounds coming from that organ. The play/musical was very good...the actors did a great job. There were a few times that I couldn't hear the lines and there seemed to be a little confusion when to move the spots to an actor who was speaking...but overall...those things didn't matter...they did a great job. The actor playing Scrooge was amazing...he was on stage most of the evening and was very professional and entertaining. It was a birthday present for my wife and I want to thank you for a wonderful evening.

    Scrooge was perfectly cast

by FamilyfromDayton on 11/29/10Ohio Theatre - Columbus

The play was enjoyable, as it has been for the last 5 years that I've seen it. This is the first year we took our four-year-old daughter and she loved it. She wanted to get a closer look at the ghosts, especially Marley. Every year, the play has a few subtle changes. This year the cast appeared to be smaller (I noticed that during Fezziwig's party, there were fewer couples dancing). However, the one change that I couldn't get past was the actor who played Tiny Tim. He was walking normally throughout the play and he wasn't small at all. The play is centered around the frail Tiny Tim who will succumb to his illness if Scrooge doesn't change his attitude about Christmas. It just was an odd casting choice. Other than that, the cast was highly talented and entertaining. We will continue our family tradition and return next year.
