The show opened with a 15 min performance by the students of bergen pac...bravo!
Then began, A Christmas Carol. There were 5 actors, portraying all the rolls. They were talented, but given an impossible task. they sang quickly, rushed through the scenes. My teens (it's been a holiday traditions) asked me "what was going on?"
So many components of the story were cut out, the set never changed, and it was over before you knew it (run time of 35 minutes). We all agreed that if you did not know the story, after seeing this performance, you would not know the story and especially experience no emotion other than confusion. We ended up watching the movie to compensate for the experience.
They should have just cancelled it, or done something totally different with the production....like "Scenes or Songs form A Christmas Carol." I would have even preferred something totally radical. I don't know...it makes me leery to ever see this production there ever again. As a family, we felt ripped off. Bah! Humbug!
However, we all agreed the performers were talented and we had a few good laughs about the experience. Glad none of us had to use the bathroom...we would have missed half the performance.
