    Wonderful presentation of a classic

by Chad on 11/27/23Meadow Brook Theatre - Rochester

This was a super experience, from the carolers at the beginning, to the way they integrated the set into the story. The cast was engaged, and the performances top-notch. We'd go again, for sure. Props to Meadowbrook Theater, as well as their players.

    Amazing as always

by Jet on 11/22/23Meadow Brook Theatre - Rochester

You forget you are watching a play because you are drawn onto the stage within the first minutes. When intermission hit, we felt like only ten minutes had gone by, not an hour. The acting is superb. The script is wonderful. We attend every few years and this has always been the best way to kick off the holiday season.

"Bah humbug!".... "God bless us, every one!"

by Mary M on 11/21/23Meadow Brook Theatre - Rochester

The Christmas Carol was wonderful. Great show!! Dealing with Ticketmaster - not so much. They never did send the tickets, and took many phone calls, and extra steps to secure the tickets. The show was great though.

    what the...???

by baffled viewer on 12/24/22Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

The show opened with a 15 min performance by the students of bergen pac...bravo! Then began, A Christmas Carol. There were 5 actors, portraying all the rolls. They were talented, but given an impossible task. they sang quickly, rushed through the scenes. My teens (it's been a holiday traditions) asked me "what was going on?" So many components of the story were cut out, the set never changed, and it was over before you knew it (run time of 35 minutes). We all agreed that if you did not know the story, after seeing this performance, you would not know the story and especially experience no emotion other than confusion. We ended up watching the movie to compensate for the experience. They should have just cancelled it, or done something totally different with the production....like "Scenes or Songs form A Christmas Carol." I would have even preferred something totally radical. I don't know...it makes me leery to ever see this production there ever again. As a family, we felt ripped off. Bah! Humbug! However, we all agreed the performers were talented and we had a few good laughs about the experience. Glad none of us had to use the bathroom...we would have missed half the performance.

    Don't waste your money

by Ollie on 12/21/22Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

This was , by far the worst production that I have ever witnessed. Was this play for adults? There were five (5) performers in the entire play - the play lasted about 45 minutes, and when it was over the audience was stunned - hardly any clapping as I can only imagine that the entire audience couldnt believe what just happened. I dont like writing negative reviews but it is simply not fair to take peoples money and then put on a performance like this. I'm sorry - just terrible- I had to pick one star and that is a gift

    Fun

by LeoN on 12/21/22Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

This show is geared more for children. I brought my family and had a good time. It was a fun little show to watch. Gets you ready for the holiday season. The performers did a wonderful job. It is a bit short in time, but I have no regrets.

    Thoroughly enjoyed.

by Scrooge Fan on 12/9/22Tilson Auditorium - Terre Haute

Great quality, actors great, sets great. Enjoyed the sing along at the end. Sound could have been a little higher on the actors over the parts with singing, but still great. Very reasonable ticket prices as well. We will go again.

    Christmas-tastic!!!

by CJL on 12/24/19Meadow Brook Theatre - Rochester

What an amazing production! I took 10 family members to see this production thinking this was going to be some okay theatre, boy was I wrong. The venue was just perfect, very intimate and very comfortable. The staging that was presented was over the top. I was just floored with the mechanics and smooth transition we were all taken on in this incredible journey. The actors were all top notch and you immediately were welcomed into there era. I appreciated that the sound that was provided for all of the ghosts was much louder. My one wish would have had a bit louder sound piece for all the other actors. This however was a minor occurrence. This was a Broadway worthy production and I have told many of my other family members to venture out to see this next year. Wow describes this perfectly to get you into the holiday spirit!

    Wonderful

    by J. F. on 12/22/19Meadow Brook Theatre - Rochester

The sets were FANTASTIC. The actors were delightful (particularly Scrooge) and the transitions from set to set/scene to scene were extremely well executed. The first half, however (before the intermission) really seemed to drag on. It felt like a disproportionate part of the play was stacked into the first hour and the second hour felt rushed. Also, the background "wind" was annoying as it never stopped even though we were indoors for those scenes. Overall it was delightful and the complaints above still leave me with a 4.5/5 score.
