What an exceptional performance! David Ira Wood IV did a fantastic job. So glad I was able to see him perform his first year (and hopefully not the last) as Ebenezer Scrooge. My 10 year old thoroughly enjoyed himself and is already asking to go back next year. Thank you for a great beginning to our Christmas.

It had been years since I'd seen A Christmas Carol and I was really looking forward to Ira David Woods performing. I remember seeing him as a kid and I was very excited that I was now taking my daughter to see it. I was a little disappointed when I found out Ira David Woods was not going to able to perform, however his son was absolutely WONDERFUL and I would love to see him perform as Scrooge again!!! He did an AMAZING job. The entire cast was wonderful. We laughed the entire time. The show was great.

First time seeing the show and at first i wasnt so sure about it. Im not into plays like that were they stand and sing all the time but after they all came out and started to ran aroung and singing, it was very good and funny. They had very good jokes that they through in there at good times and keeped everyone laughing. I would love to go next year and see them again.

This was everything and more that I had been told to expect. My daughter was a bit concerned that Ira David Wood III wouldn't be playing Scrooge, but she assures me that his son did every bit as good a job! I look forward to to seeing more of his work.

  • A must see

This adaptation of Dickens' tale is bound to be a holiday tradition. My daughter (age 23) and i laughed all night and were amazed at the voices and acting of all, especially the quality of the young actors. She and I have decided that the entire family needs to come see it next year. This is perfect for all ages--young children might miss some of the jokes that update the story, but will understand the values being taught.

Before we went, I hadn't heard anything about the show, so I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't realize how many modern touches were added to the story- it made it very funny and enjoyable for me and my kids.

A great night. I took my five year old and he loved it. He was on the edge of his seat for the entire show. We will be back next year.

  • Christmas carol rocks

Ira David Wood IV filling in for his dad Ira David Wood III did not miss a beat in playing Scrooge. The show was as entertaining and delightful as it ever was. The singing the staging and the over all production was as good if not better than the past years we attended.

  • A Christmas Carol ... good as ever!

by ComingBackAgain on 12/10/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

Ira David Wood IV had to step into his fathers shoes and did so in a big way! Very fun ... very entertaining ... and more of a Christian message than I remember from the last time I saw it. All in all a great show.

  • Ira IV was awesome

by Spencer12 on 12/10/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Ira IV continues the tradition that his father started. It was funny and sweet with his own twist. I loved when Ira III walked through the set. Nice to see he is doing so well after his surgery.

  • It gets better every year!

by lnbarfie on 12/10/10Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

A Christmas tradition that never disappoints, Raleigh's 2010 version of A Christmas Carol was no exception. It's a family friendly experience that people of all ages should enjoy, and Ira David Wood IV did his father proud as he appeared as Scrooge for the first time. The topical-comedic interpretation of Dickens' classic tale was hilarious, mesmorizing and heartwarming. I look forward to it every year. It's my favorite part of the Christmas season!

We have seen The Christmas Carol for a number of years and this year's performance was excellent with Ira playing Scooge. Ira did an amazing job ;and if you have seen it before, you have to admit that it was hard to find any major differences between he and his Dad. We all left singing with the true meaning of Christmas in our hearts. My only complaint was not with the play but with the sound system. We saw the play at the DPAC. TOO LOUD in the Orchestra Section.
