    A Christmas Carol

by abfc on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Awesome! The music was outstanding, and, so were each one of the actors. I would highly recommend this event. It is for all ages. The actors added so much humor, so, there was laughter & tears! Loved it!

"A Christmas Carol" was excellent, as always!

by Melekalikimaka on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

We really enjoyed the production this year. I was a bit nervous that it wasn't IDW III performing, but his son did an outstanding job!!! This is part of our family Christmas tradition & my boys enjoyed when they were younger & still love it in their teenage years.

    IDW IV was super!

by AFK1 on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

This was our first time seeing the Ira David Wood III adaptation and we thoroughly enjoyed it with the contemporary touches and the quality of the production. We have heard about it for several years and finally had the chance to attend and will plan to see it again/ IDW IV was in for his father this time and did a commendable job. The child that played the Ghost of Christmas Past was precious and the big man who was the Ghost of Christmas Present was great, too. Really enjoyable evening!

A Christmas Carol with local flavor

by Wufpak85 on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

What a tremendous evening. Each actor brought a unique contribution to their part and the sum was so entertaining. It had the classic aspects of the traditional story with a nice blend of local humor. The time went by so fast I kept wishing there were more spirits of Christmas to show up.

    Not what I expected

by UpsetinRaleigh on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

I'm sorry to write that I was disappointed with the show Saturday night. I expected to see a classic tale of A Christmas Carol and what I received instead was a comedy routine with a little Christmas inter-twined. The cast did a really good job and the sound/lights were really good but this isn't what I was hoping for. I take my family to the DPAC about once every two months and love it there but if you go please be prepared for a comedic performance. It's not that the play was bad, just not what I expected.

Could have been a great play

by mandel9803 on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

The play itself was good. The sound./music was absolutely ear shattering. Our normal season seats are on Row W and we haven't had a problem with loudness yet. This is our third year with season tickets. We managed to get seats on Row F for this show and same seats for the Vince Gill/Amy Grant show next week. The sound was so loud - the voices echoed and at points was hard to understand. We took our son and his wife for her birthday. He wears hearing aids and had to take them out. He still got a headache. Hopefully the sound for Vince and Amy will be better.

    A Christmas Carol

by GinaLynnB on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

It was hilarious! Scrooge was phenomenal. Ira David Wood, IV is a very gifted actor. This was our first time seeing the production and our first time at DPAC. We have seen shows on Broadway and at Flat Rock. We now add DPAC as one of our favorite places.

    An Unforgettable Christmas Carol

by PeteBar on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

This was the first time we visited DPAC and saw A Christmas Carol. David Wood IV was absolutely stellar, funny and heart-warming. One of the best plays I've seen in a long time.

    play was so entertaining

by milly1 on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

I thought the play was great. I had heard wonderful things from my daughters who have gone for years in Raleigh. It lived up to expectations. I took my two daughters and daughter-in-law as part of their Christmas. They said it was a great present. I thought he IV did a great job as Scrooge. The orchestra was wonderful, you left the play feeling light-hearted and good.

    Christmas Carol with southern flavor

by drjim78 on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

First time seeing this show. The 'son of Scrooge' performed admirably in his father's place!

    A Christmas Carol

by ChristmasViewer on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Loved the play. Sometimes "Scrooge" was a bit too silly, too often in the first act, which detracted from the story somewhat. Needs to tone it down a little. Loved the second act. Just the right amount of humor, which added to the story. The 1st spirit was fantastic! Amazing voice for such a little girl, especially singing such a lengthy song. Three cheers for her! Having Ira David Wood, III walk across the stage was a plus for the audience and very appropriate. Nice to see him doing well enough to make an appearance. DPAC was great. The smell of sugar cookies, hot chocolate, and of course the snow on Saturday night, all added to the Christmas spirit of the evening.

    Christmas Carol was wonderful

by jrw4ncsu on 12/6/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

I have probably been to 30+ shows over the years of Ira David Wood's adaption of The Christmas Carol. Sure we all know Ira III is great but I would like to commend Ira IV for an outstanding job this year. I recommend that anyone and everyone see this version of A Christmas Carol. You will laugh, cry, and walk away all warm and fuzzy inside. Thank you Ira III and IV for another special Christmas.
