This is the best play I have ever seen! Its my 3rd year going. Its a great time for a family night out or a nice date! The playschool is reallyI funny! There is prayer and christ in this play which is amazing that on such a big level christ is proclaimed!

  • A Christmas Carol was OUTSTANDING

by Jeffwhit on 12/12/11Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

My family enjoyed the performance immensely. So much so that when my son returns from college Weds, I am taking him to the final show. Enjoyed the costumes, sets, and singing was great. Especially impressed with the little girl who played the Ghost of Christmas Past. An amazing talent. Also, the guy who played Bob Marley was super. Ira David Wood was fantastic. We'll plan to attend next year.

  • Another Hilarious Show

by GreekHillbilly on 12/12/11Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

What an incredible musical adaptation Ira David Wood III has made a success. He has done this for 37 years now and the material is hilarious. the Political humor, the asides, the improv. I laughed a lot. Thoroughly enjoyable, you must go!! -

  • A Christmas Carol upbeat!!

by Scf0114 on 12/12/11Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

I've been to this show a few times. Each year has a slight difference ie jokes and lil quotes in the show. I would recommend and have recommended this to anyone. It's a family fun event and the cast is really great. I love going to see A Christmas Carol more and more each time.

  • The highlight of the Christmas season

by PAyscue on 12/12/11Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I'm proud our daughters now love the show as much as we do. It is always fresh and enthusiastic after all these years and terrific to see Ira David Wood has not slowed one bit. If tickets were on sale now, I'd buy them right away to guarantee a seat to the 2012 show. Merry Christmas to the entire cast and crew!

  • Disappointing

by Anonymous on 12/12/11Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 2 out of 5

I was expecting to see a normal theatrical production of A Christmas Carol but instead I saw a Scrooge attempting to be comical and audience participation as well. Overall the experience was very disappointing and despite having paid what I consider to be a lot of money to attend the play, I left at intermission.

  • Ira David Wood was at the top of his game!

by GummyBearCupcake on 12/12/11Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Very funny, enjoyable, Christmas-y, and feel good. Ira and his son, as well as the rest of the cast, were awesome. I must say the first half was better than the second. But a great show overall.

  • Better than excellent!!!

I have been wanting to go for years, and last year after Ira David Wood, III wasn't able to perform I was determined to not miss another season. I was expecting it to be outstanding, but it was a million times better than that!!!!! Better than any Broadway show I have seen!!

  • Best play out there!!!

by Kelly617 on 12/11/11Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 3rd time seeing Theatre in the Park: a Christmas Carol. This was the best one yet! Spectacular performance by all and especially Ira David Wood III. His is so funny. My kids went with me this time and usually they think everything I like is lame but they are 14 and 19 and they really enjoyed it. My daughter said she didn't want it to end. This play just makes the Christmas holiday for me! I've seen Broadway plays but this one is still my favorite!

  • Don't miss it!

Nostalgic and contemporary. Ebeneezer Scrooge will make you laugh and cry. A host of mighty fine characters. So glad Ira David Wood could return!

  • BEST YET

by Anonymous on 12/11/11Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I moved back to Raleigh in 81. Since that date we have attended 28 of the 30 shows of A Christmas Carol. I beleive the Friday night performance was the best we have seen. Ira David Wood was really on his game. Don't know if it had anything to do with missing last years shows but he was exceptional Friday night.

  • He is back even better than before!

by Lanabird on 12/11/11Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

It was great to see Ira back where he belongs! The play was spectacular as always and it was great to see a lot of the same cast members that we have seen for years! A must see for the whole family! We have been going for over 17 yrs and enjoy it every year even though it is a traditional play he brings such new life to it and my wife crys at the end every time! I hope his run never ends!

We enjoyed the play. This was are first time at this theater and found out when the play was almost over that we were put in the wrong seats. We bought lower balcony seats and we were put in upper balcony seats. That was a disapointing for us. We came to watch Mimi Kirkland one of the cast members.

Scrooge was fantastic as always!! Even more meaningful since Ira David Wood had his heart surgery. Loved the way he thanked his son for portraying Scrooge in 2010. Bob Cratchit's solo is always moving - great actor! A show filled with laughter & tears - very moving! Merry Christmas!
