Always a must see for the family. The first half runs a bit long however.
We all know the story of Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carole. Ira David Wood III brings this classic to the stage with a twist, a wink, a giggle, and belly laughs while staying true to the premise of the original. The humor taps into current pop culture and local news headlines keeping the audience engaged and a smile on the face of the biggest Grinch
Love the additions to a Christmas classic.Love the boxes of twinkies and ho ho stacked by Scrooge's desk.
Awesome performance! Funny and spirited. I clever twist on a classic story. must see
Have seen this show almost all of the last 20 years. It is always fresh and gets us "in the spirit" for the season! Must see!
I went with my family to the 2pm production of A Christmas carol on 12/8/12 and it was wonderful! We went last year and I have to say it was just as exciting and funny and sweet and beautiful as ever! It really put my family in the Christmas spirit and it was a perfect addition to the season! Thank you's to all who produce, work, build, perform, wrangle, etc! You all should be so proud and just know how much you are appreciated! Well done! Will definitely be back next year!
I have probably been to this show 30 of the 38 years. Show only gets better and better each year. Never feels like Christmas until I have seen A Christmas Carol.
Simply fantastic, fun great entertainment the best way to start The Christmas season!!
Always new innovations that make the show even better.
Corny, fun, hilarious, great dancers and singers, fabulous actors...as good as any on Broadway!
Most entertaining play I've seen in years. Laughed until I cried!!
I'm so happy I finally saw A Christmas Carol, and I would recommend it to others. I did have an initial shock when I realized it was an original comedy, rather than a serious dramatization of Charles Dickens' book. Once I readjusted my attitude, I fell in with the flow of the show and enjoyed it quite a lot. Ira David Wood was fantastic, as always, and the rest of the cast was very talented, as well. There were a few actors that didin't quite reach the audience, I feel, but I know what a difficult job it is and everyone was a joy to watch. The singing and dancing were especially amazing!
Ira David Wood gets better every year. He is very talented.
I had seen this show once before about 15 years ago and this was the hubbies first experience. It was just as great as I had remembered it and the hubbie loved it. We may make this an annual experience. Such a great time was had by all....we laughed and cried. This show is very highly recommended!
It wasn't until I was at the theater that I saw the words "musical comedy" on the program, and my heart sank. This production was like a hybrid of "Hee-Haw" and "Laugh-In," with tasteless jokes and almost no resemblence to the novel or traditional productions. As we left at intermission, my eight-year-old son said, "I don't even know what that was. I thought we were in the wrong place."
Always a wonderful experience. Each year they bring in new comical relief regarding new things going on in society. I highly recommend this experience.
as always a great part of Christmas however, i don't need to see it but once every 5 years. the same-old-same-old is what makes it what it is.
Over the years I have heard how wonderful this play has been from year to year and after Ira David Wood's TV commercial for Wake, I was hooked to attend this year. However, I was not impressed. The songs were not memorable until the end of the show. The show itself was too long & boring. In fact, I was falling asleep. I did not like the interpretation of the clown as the "ghost of christmas future." It seemed very out of character. I had not seen the show before, but with all the hype, I expected more. Perhaps its time to find a new Scrooge that can interject some energy into the play.
The acoustics were terrible. Could not hear the actors dialogue very well. I have noticed this problem before in Memorial. Should be an easy fix. Very technical but easy..... Lets get it done.
I have seen A Christmas Carol 4 times. It is just wonderful and each time has more beautiful scenes/props. Ira David Wood continues to make me laugh and at the same time start my Christmas "spirit" season.
