  • first time seeing A Christmas Carol - loved it!

by cci006 on 12/14/12Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

A fun evening. Something for everyone - some singing, some dancing, some emotional moments, and a whole lot of smiles and out loud laughter. They did a great job of interjecting current and local events and personalities throughout. They clearly had a lot of fun performing - so did we!!

  • Dickens would be proud!

by Bobbiecissie on 12/14/12Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

What a special evening! The cast continues to outdo itself from the previous year and the scenery never let's me down. The Triangle is SO fortunate to have this top-notch production. Ira David IV will not let us down when it is his time to lead - his voice and stage presence is wonderful.

Great show, they really brought out the Christmas spirit and their humor and real-life current references in their jokes were very funny. Best Christmas show I've been to.

  • A Christmas Carol NEVER Disappoints!

by UNCTarheelFANatic on 12/13/12Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

No matter how many times I see it, it never gets old! We're fortunate Ira David Wood has stayed in Raleigh rather than pursuing a "bigger" stage because he'd have no trouble doing so with the talent he has. Amazing man! The play is so professionally done from the staging, the acting, the singing...everything about it! I'll never get tired of seeing it!

This was a wonderful ensemble production. Ira David Wood never fails to impress with this show. The funny zingers that he interjects make the show even more personal to all of us local folks. I thank everybody for their contributions to this perenneal favorite here in the Triangle. Merry Christmas and God Bless everyone!

  • Christmas Carol

by Sunshine5345 on 12/13/12Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This is probably my third time seeing this production. Been at least 8-10 years since last seeing. In previous productions, enjoyed the oldies sung more. Costumes were once again fantastic. Christmas past child was really fantastic in her lines and her singing. And of course, Ira David Wood, III was once again fantastic with his one liners. All in all a very good production and my guests thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • Had a great time

by Steve4129 on 12/13/12Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Took my 85 year old parents - they missed alot of the humor - but everyone had a GREAT TIME. Excellent as usual.

  • It was OK

by Christmas56 on 12/13/12Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

I had been so looking forward to this show. The first half of it was wonderful..very funny and fast paced. The second half seemed to drag on and got a bit weird. This is the first time we have seen the show (I took my daughter and her girlfriend); we would probably go back again but not every year.

  • A Christmas Carol?

by Scrooged11 on 12/13/12Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

This was our first visit to a show that has apparently been showing for many, many years. It's a very loose adapation of my very loved version of A Christmas Carol- but for my wife and I, it really missed the mark. To be honest, the show seemed to cater to local folk, perhaps college grads from the area, or even to the followers of the very talented cast, but to us it was just confusing as we didn't follow the infused local humor. We also weren't sure for the need to add political commentary or the mis-placed interuption for the pointless magic show. No Christmas spirit in this slap-stick circus show.

Our grand kids had trouble understanding at lot of the jokes. However, in general I enjoyed the show. Our grand kids liked the second half with the ghosts.

  • Wonderful as always!

We attend this event every year, and this year was as wonderful as any. We really enjoy the production and look forward to it each year as a family event! Thanks for a wonderful production!

  • LOVE THIS MUSICAL

by scroogefan1979 on 12/12/12Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I have attended A Christmas Carol at Memorial Auditorium every year for the past 33 years (except for the year it was in Chapel Hill). It is truely a family tradition and it doesn't feel like Christmas until we go. I love everything about it.

  • A Christmas Carol

As a long time attender of the show, it never ceases to amaze me! I love everything about the show. I love it !

  • A Christmas Carol was once again a winner

by Christmasgal on 12/11/12Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoys this show!!. IDWIII was on his game. The political jabs were good this year but not as "tart" as they have been in the past. The show leaves you in the spirit and ready for the holidays! I am sure we will make the effort to go again next year. May see it at DPAC instead of PECPA.

  • Great way to get the Christmas Season started!

by DMF76 on 12/11/12Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This is my fourth time seeing this show over the past 15 years and continues to be just as touching as the first time. Lots of energy from the cast and crew and really gets you into the Christmas spirit. Ira David Wood III's Scrooge continues to command the stage with a warm blend of humor, wit, and heart. A must-see for anyone who has not caught the play before, or just wants to remember why Christmas is so special year after year.
