    ALWAYS SUPERB!!

by Little Debbie on 12/13/23Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh

Theatre in the Park's "A Christmas Carol"is like no other production of this story. It is worth every penny & then some. Original sound track, dancing, comedy, serious - it is a MUST see. Each year has little different "current event"thrown in. You will laugh you will cry & you will not want the play to end. Ira David Wood III - thank your for 50 years of the best production EVER!! I have not attended a performance with IDW IV as Scrooge but look forward to seeing him next year - I have no doubt you "have trained him well"

I am not gonna lie, I did shed a few tears at this years A Christmas Carol. David, thank you for providing me and my family with many years of merriment, laughter and good cheer! You have touched so many lives with your renditions of A Christmas Carol! I am sure your son will do a wonderful job filling your shoes, but I feel it will never be the same!

    First experience

by Kmack on 12/13/23Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh

I had always wanted to see the play and it was really fun but it was a little bit too long as maybe a few scenes could have been shorter

by CW on 12/12/23Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh

This is the 3rd year seeing this and the band, the singers, the sets, costumes, and of course Scrooge: Ira David Wood III, were all excellent, spectacular!! Everyone in the show was excellent, very professionally done! The show was so well done, as always!!

    Best show ever

by Elizabeth on 12/12/23Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh

Can’t you persuade IDW to do this for another 50 years? He is a treasure. I’m sure Ira and eventually Thomas will do an admirable job but it will never be the same.

What a joy to watch A Christmas Carol with Ira David Woods III performing his Scrooge for the 50th time! So happy we were able to watch his final performance! Will definitely be there next year to see his son step into the role. A beautiful venue as well.

    I enjoyed it

by Bob on 12/12/23Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh

It was fun. I'd seen it before, but of course from year to year it's never the same. We were somewhat disappointed when we found out that the night we went Ira David Wood IV was Scrooge and not Ira David Wood III. We would've probably tried to get tickets for a night that IDW III was Scrooge, in his last year in the role had we known.

    Excellent performance

by Kay on 12/12/23Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh

As always this was an excellent performance. In addition to the actors and actresses, the two women who interpreted for the deaf were phenomenal. We attended Saturday afternoon, Dec 9th. David Moore was fantastic and the Christmas Lullaby may have been his finest rendition. Congratulations On a Job Well Done and the upcoming retirement for Scrooge and Bob Cratchitt.

    Don’t go!

    by KEE on 8/26/23

Too many political jokes! I was so excited to see this thinking it would be the magical tale we’d known and loved. I was utterly disappointed and heartbroken when we suffered through a terrible act of political jokes that had nothing to do with the story or the meaning behind it. I would NEVER recommend this for anyone and will never waste time or money on it. It’s not worthy of its nice venue or false marketing.

    Must See Show

by Linda B on 1/5/23DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

This is a GREAT show!!! It's an annual tradition. If you haven't experienced it yet, you should make it a priority for 2023 which will be their 50th anniversary production.

    Wonderful Christmas Tradition!

by cnr on 12/30/22Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I saw the show 7 times this year, and enjoyed it every time! Both of my sons have had the honor of performing in the show…. One of them has been in it for 10 years and the other for 8 years! David Wood is such a talented man! Every time I watch it, I cry and I laugh! I am so happy that Ira is going to keep the show going. Ira does such a great job! It is hard to tell whether it is him or David! I truly love watching the show and listening to the beautiful music! The cast and crew do an awesome job year after year! I am looking forward to next year…the 50th anniversary!!!

    Great Experience with Older Kids

by KWilcox on 12/21/22DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

We had a great experience at A Christmas Carol. The main storyline line with tons of modern comedy in it kept everyone laughing and engaged through the whole show. The acting and singing was wonderful and the humor sharp and witty. My teenage son exclaimed he can’t wait to see it again next year to see what parts of the comedy they change. Both of my teenage children enjoyed it as much as I did. If you have much younger children, don’t have an open-minded sense of humor, or are expecting a purely traditional version of the story, you might not enjoy it as much.

    Keep politics out

by LO on 12/21/22DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Too many political jokes against one party, with non against the other party. Why are there politics in a family show?

    Awesome Performance!

by BethA on 12/21/22DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

We love to come to A Christmas Carol every year. It is a family activity and a great way to get into the holiday spirit and laugh alot! It's a great break to take during the holiday rush of shopping and decorating for Christmas. The cast is professional and many of the cast have been doing this show for 30 plus years!! The combo of Ira David Wood III (Scrooge and the writer of this comical musical version of the story) and David Henderson (Jacob Marley) cannot be beat! They will always deliver a stellar performance. The entire cast, crew, and musicians are just wonderful! It's hard to believe that next year is the show's 50th year! We will return again, guaranteed!
