  • Best to ever do it

by Kyle Wiggins on 12/10/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

I would recommend this show to anyone and everyone. Ira David Wood III passed the torch to his son IDW4 starting this year and there were just enough new and fresh pieces to this legendary show. 10/10.

  • Christmas Classic

by Kam on 12/10/24Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Great experience like always. Never disappoints or gets old. Great way to get in the Christmas Spirit.

  • A Raleigh Treasure

by Strick on 12/8/24Rating: 5 out of 5

I went yesterday for the 15th time and the first time without IDW III. While nobody can replace him, his son did a commendable job. I got to enjoy the show with my 32 year old daughter that I first took to see it when she was 3. It still brings the Christmas spirit to my heart. To those that hated it, ya'll haint from around here and are likely the same ones complaining about how we drive and how much better the pizza is. in New York. If it doesn't put a little Christmas in your heart there is nothing to be done for you.

  • Outstanding and funny

by BruceK on 11/14/24Rating: 5 out of 5

I have watched this show a few times over the years and each time find it still a great and refreshingly funny show. Props are well done as are the costumes. Ira Wood and David Moore have been great over the years!! Highly recommended

  • Very disappointed

by Awful show on 1/1/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 1 out of 5

Terrible adaptation to the original play. Very disappointing and bad seats in the theater.

  • Not worth the hype

by Casual Attendee on 12/27/23DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 1 out of 5

Over all this was so far from a Christmas Carol that i'm not sure that anyone should attend expecting this story line. It was simply a shell of a Christmas Carol filled with poor jokes, slap stick comedy, and political jabs. If you like the old classic the Three Stooges you may like this show. Perhaps a younger audience would be a better target as it is very much childish and painful humor. We stayed until intermission and then quickly headed for the door to salvage what little valuable baby sitter time we had left. I have no idea how this is been a running show for so long? But then again, the general public has a low IQ and poor taste.

  • Amazing once again!

by GMC on 12/26/23DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

The DPAC never disappoints as a venue and outstanding service. The show was marvelous and we were so happy to celebrate this Christmas by seeing Ira David Wood III perform one last time. This show is amazing and an incredible rich tradition for the Triangle area and beyond. Thank you for spreading joy and cheer every year. I know that IDW IV will keep the beautiful tradition going. God Bless You Everyone.

What A Gift This Group of Talented Actors Gave Us Here (in the Raleigh/Durham area), in This Amazing Production for Xmas Year After Year! • Not worth the hype

by Good Afternoon! on 12/20/23DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 1 out of 5

We had been hearing about the Theatre in the Park production of A Christmas Carol for a few years and decided we needed to get out to see it this year, being David Ira Wood III's final year. What a disappointment. The humor was juvenile/lame, bits went on far too long, and the songs were slow, repetitive, and uninteresting. Made it to intermission and decided to cut our losses to save the rest of our Saturday.

  • A must-see seasonal event in Raleigh-Durham area

by Juliemtg on 12/20/23DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

We have seen this play provably 12 times, and love it. The humor is always fresh. The pay is a great reminder about the “reason for this season”. We were so fortunate to see Ira David Wood III in his final performance, after 50 years!

  • Christmas Carol

by Sallie on 12/20/23DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

Best ever - I’ve seen it many times before. Ira David III brings laughter, joy and a few tears in his performance. Truly a holiday classic. Hard to believe it’s been 50 years and I see it being a tradition for many years to come. Great job David and all the cast! Merry Christmas!

  • One of the Best Shows

by Bob on 12/19/23DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

This show was the second to last show that Ira David Wood III would ever perform and it was everything anyone who attended could ask for. The entire cast was great, but Ira David Wood III was exceptional. His musical-comedy version of A Christmas Carol was anything but boring. The fact that he brought in current events kept the show lively and the audience both laughing and crying. He will be missed next year, but I saw his son, Ira David Wood IV perform the role of Ebenezer Scrooge last year (2022) and he didn't miss a beat. I look forward to see the show in 2024. I can't wait.
