Anthony Hamilton Background

Before getting his Grammy and churning out hits like "Charlene" and "Can't Let Go," Anthony Hamilton started singing from a young age and got his start in the church choir. Hamilton was born on January 28th, 1971, and is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina -- a core influence of his Southern neo-soul musical style. Hamilton also draws his musical influences from R&B greats, including Michael Jackson. After moving to New York City in the 1990s and moving between record labels, Hamilton finally created a name for himself with his fourth album in 2003, which featured the musical hit "Charlene." Hamilton's influence extends beyond music into the public sphere through his speaking and advocacy opportunities as a CASA spokesperson, which allows him to raise awareness about the foster care system.

Detroit Opera House- Terrible Sound System

by Meme on 4/30/24Detroit Opera House - Detroit

I was really looking forward to this show. Anthony Hamilton is one of my all time favorite singers. The Detroit Opera House concert experience was terrible. I couldnā€™t even hear the words to the songs and I was sitting on the floor level near the front. Iā€™ve seen other shows here (sitting in the same area) and they were great. It was a waste of money. I donā€™t think Iā€™ll buy tickets to see another concert at this venue. Iā€™m only giving three stars because I still love Anthony and he puts on an entertaining show, just wish I could have heard the vocals.

    Fan for life

by Ham Fan on 4/30/24Detroit Opera House - Detroit

I have seen Anthony Hamilton numerous times. I felt that each show was excellent, except for this last concert. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it but I have seen him do better. It felt like he did not sing as many songs and took a quite of few breaks. But because I am a fan.....I will see him again and again and again!
