Born in Waitsfield, VT, Grace Potter grew up in a family that encouraged her artistic pursuits in areas from music to theater, the latter of which she was studying at St. Lawrence University when drummer Matt Burr heard her singing at an open-mike night in 2002 and asked if she would form a band with him. She declined, but when her high-school friend and bass player Courtright Beard enrolled in their college, she reconsidered the invitation, and the three of them began to write and perform jazz-influenced songs, Potter also taking duties on the Hammond B-3. Soon, guitarist Scott Tournet joined, and the bandmembers, calling themselves Grace Potter & the Nocturnals -- thanks to their late-night practice habits -- began to think seriously about making music their careers. When Burr graduated in 2003, they decided to move back to Vermont to some land that Potter's parents owned and dedicate themselves more fully to their craft, replacing Beard (who chose to stay at school) with Bryan Dondero in the process. In 2004 they self-released their debut, Original Soul, receiving positive response and comparisons to artists like Norah Jones and early Bonnie Raitt. This in turn garnered major-label offers, but the band preferred to build its fan base by constant touring and festival appearances. Word of their electric performance spread, and shortly after their second album, Nothing But the Water -- also self-released -- came out in 2005, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals signed to Hollywood Records, with their third full-length, This Is Somewhere, hitting shelves nationwide in August 2007. In 2010, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals was released; Hollywood pulled out all the stops in order to break the band internationally. ~ Marisa Brown, Rovi

Even though this was a special Jazz Fest show, run,do not walk to go see/hear Grace Potter!! She assembled a plethora of all star N.O. born musicians for an almost 3 hour romp through her material and all through the nite performing Tina Turner songs as a tribute to Tina. She even dressed up as and did her hair like Tina. The music was happening under the amazing sounds coming from Grace on guitar/keys/vocals, her stalwart band mates and she was joined throughout her time on stage by such N.O. notables as Karl Denson/sax,Trombone Shorty/trombone,Samantha Fish/elec guitar,Kingfish/blues guitar, Matt Stynson/Galactic/drums,and several others. It was an awesome display of a love of music. 1am came VERY fast and we were all sad it had to end. Great vids, pics, and memories with this one. VERY special.Grace is the bomb(shell)!!
Phenomenal performance! Seriously the most electric performer I've ever seen--not to mention, her vocals are insane, her songwriting is superb, and her talent across the board as a multi-instrumentalist is unmatched. I'm so grateful I got to witness the beautiful energy she brings to the stage. So good, 10/10!
Grace is a phenomenal singer guitar and keyboard player and a great dancer. Second time seeing her. Great fun. Really enjoyed The Sound venue
Grace Potter is absolutely awesome!!! Can't wait to see her again!
Great venue. I hope they pull in more artist and have more shows there. Perfect size venue. As for Grace...what a true rockstar!! What a true professional. She rocked the house for an hour and 45 minutes. And what a band. All of them are destined to be rockstars in their own right. Show was so much fun. Can't wait to see her again. Thanks Grace. Thank you so much.
Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for her soundcheck party. Best pre show event I’ve been to. Grace is one of the best live performers out there. Danced all night!
I'm kind of new at this on line ticket purchasing. I guess I bought resale tickets? I didn't realize that I would be standing for two hours. I had a ledge to lean on which helped and I really liked the small venue . I also liked that I could have a cocktail and that the bathroom was close. Grace's performance was amazing.
Grace Potter has an incredible voice and is very talented - plays multiple instruments. High energy beginning of show, then slowed down... Very short show, 8:15-9:30 (there was presumably an encore but we left.) I did not care for her trashy outfit and demeanor, not at all attractive and unnecessary. She should class it up and showcase her talent, not her body (which is not great.) Just distracting. Enjoyed the options at this venue - GA you can get close to the stage, or you can buy seats in the balcony but still go down to the stage. Multiple bars and food is available too. Good parking ($20.)
Nice Facility, but lower level Chairs are obstructed by People on Floor, the Seating should have a 12 in Riser........Sight Lines not Laid out Properly. Best Of Luck to the SOUND
