About

KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:

Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history.  In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Kenny Wayne numerous times and this was his best show yet. See him if you can!"

"Awesome show!!! Would definitely pay to see them again! He punished that guitar!"

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

A good start to hopefully an annual event

by geowill on 4/24/24Murrieta Town Square Amphitheater - Murrieta

I thoroughly enjoyed the event. Pretty well organized for a first event. Kenny Wayne was fabulous as usual. The Delgado Brothers put on a good show. Jon Cleary was also good. I love his New Orleans sound. The band would have been much better with a horn section. The Lao Tizer band offered a welcome departure from all of the blues acts. Eric Marienthal on sax and Karen Briggs on the violin were both masterful. The highlight of the festival for me was Shamekia Copeland. Not only does she have an amazing voice, she's a consummate performer. The sound for a couple of the acts was way too loud and sometimes the instruments were drowning out the vocalists. The most annoying thing was the flashing lights on stage that were constantly shining in the eyes of the audience. Awful idea! The food vendors were good and there was an excellent variety. The parking lots really need some lighting. Walking back to our car after dark was an adventure on the uneven, unpaved parking lot.

    KWSB Better Than Ever!

by JoeyPsychotic on 4/24/24Murrieta Town Square Amphitheater - Murrieta

This was our fifth time seeing Kenny and he did not disappoint. From the teenage Kenny at Belly Up, through 4th and B, House of Blues at Mandalay Bay and Humphrey's, we had our best seats of all time (3rd row right in front) and were thrilled to see how he has matured into one hell of a performer and (of course) one of the best guitarists ever. So happy we got to experience this show.

    An Amazing Show

by mk on 4/24/24Murrieta Town Square Amphitheater - Murrieta

Kenny Wayne Sheppard is just an incredible master of the guitar. He puts on a spectacular show! The setting at the Murietta park was really great. The only thing lacking was a little extra enthusiasm from the audience. This was a "leave early"crowd. It is unbelievable when we were being treated to such an amazing show. Maybe next time the headliner starts earlier?

Rating based on venue, not performers

by Justafan on 4/24/24Murrieta Town Square Amphitheater - Murrieta

The venue was Murrieta Amphitheater. It's beautiful, but too hot for a day event. I wish they had lined the grass for assigned places bc we waited in sun all day to hold our spot, only to have people crowd the front area and block our view. They basically stole our view. It's not easy on persons with health issues. We would've liked to wait in the shade and be able to have our spots when we're ready.

    Great Blues festival in Murrieta

by Mia on 4/23/24Murrieta Town Square Amphitheater - Murrieta

Great venue. Hardly any shade for any type of seating. Suggest allowing rear exit to get to parking lots. Sound system was great.

    Pleasant Surprise

by B2 Milt on 4/23/24Murrieta Town Square Amphitheater - Murrieta

This was the first annual So Cal Blues and Jazz Festival. The City Of Murrieta Had a Clean Operation Plenty of Vendors and the talent was Exceptional. KWS and Eric Gales brought it to the crowd with plenty of Energy. Very impressed with their playing style both different but great at the same time. Hopefully this will be an Annual event I will get the VIP seating next time.

    Terrible parking

by Fan on 4/23/24Murrieta Town Square Amphitheater - Murrieta

Great show, but the parking was a rip off. If you wanted to park in the paved lot, you had to pay $50. Otherwise, you were directed to go to the dirt lot , which was very dusty and full of ruts. Some aisles were a dead end and you had to back all the way out. Plus, there was no spaces left.
