About

Austin, Texas...Eric Johnson has been traveling on a prolific odyssey over the course of more than four decades. Along the way, his creations have encompassed repertoire that cross pollinate genres which include rock, blues, jazz, fusion, soul, folk, new-age, classical and even country. Inevitably, E.J. says it best in sharing, "It really boils down to the music and the song at the end of the day", he explains, "If it doesn't have that it gets boring for me. The most important thing for me is to grow musically and make a more expansive and meaningful artistic statement with every new project".

During the pandemic, the Grammy-winning guitarist, vocalist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist released weekly donation-based "Mini Guitar Lessons" benefiting Food Banks across the country and worked in the studio on previously un-released tracks and new recordings. These tracks resulted in the release of 2 new albums entitled "The Book Of Making" and "Yesterday Meets Today" in July of 2022 on Blue Élan Records. The purchase of both albums includes the keys to a third album, "Takeouts" which includes unreleased and alternate recordings of songs available as an exclusive download.

Throughout his career, Johnson has approached music as a healing force, a way to enhance the listener's consciousness, and conjure joy and inspiration. More than a year into the Pandemic , and because of the Pandemic, he reflects that this approach has become reinforced and more enhanced.

The 2023 Treasure Tour will feature some of his previously unreleased gems, some older classics and some new soon-to-be favorites.

    Very Good Concert

by BC on 4/10/24Aztec Theatre - San Antonio

Eric Johnson gave us a great show that exceeded expectations from the opening band, to the venue, length of time he played and song selections. I would recommend seeing him if only to hear him play Cliffs of Dover.

    Always a joy

by Lissa on 4/10/24House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

I’ve seen Eric Johnson 5 times in the last year. Each concert was different & beautiful in its own way. I appreciate Eric playing in the smaller venues. And of course- I appreciate his talent & have enjoyed his music for decades now.

    Progressive 🎸 Show

by Eric 🎸 Johnson on 4/10/24Aztec Theatre - San Antonio

I’ve been blessed to have seen Eric sent the 70’s . With the recent passing of Jeff Beck & Allan Holdsworth a few years ago , Eric remains as one bad 🎸on this 🌎 Please make an attempt to see him in concert 🎶

    Boring

by KCM on 4/10/24Aztec Theatre - San Antonio

Mr. Johnson is obviously a very talented guitarist, but the show was unorganized and, frankly, boring. He mentioned that they were only doing four dates total, so maybe this concert was thrown together without much thought. PS. I think we can all do without the four-minute drum solo.

    What a Night!!!!

by Ginger on 4/9/24House of Blues Houston - Houston

Seeing Eric Johnson has been a bucket list item for me for a good while. I finally got the chance to check him out at the House of Blues Houston. I brought along an incredible Houston area guitarist William James, who was the one who told me I definitely need to see Eric Johnson. I am so glad I did!!! Special guest Michael Landau opened the show and really got the crowd going. Along with drummer Keith Carlock, and bassist Roscoe Beck, which was a treat in itself, I was totally into the music and my ears were experiencing pure joy! Eric joined Michael on stage and the magic began. These two were on fire!!! Eric continued to tear it up the rest of the evening and I was completely mesmerized. This was an incredible night which will be a lasting memory. If you get the chance to see any of these amazing musicians, JUMP!!!

Not bad, but he's been better . .

by Dave on 4/9/24House of Blues Houston - Houston

I will always love Eric Johnson. 1st saw him at "The ROX in Lubbock TX early 80s . This last show was just not as good as the ones I have seen in the past. Michael Landau's sound and performance was the better part of this concert.
