About
Smokey Robinson isn't just the former frontman of the Miracles, or the man behind several dozen R&B classics, or one of the key figures in the initial Motown movement. He isn’t just a National Medal of Arts award winner and an inductee in both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Robinson is additionally a fantastic live musician and still a great performer, with an energy and enthusiasm that is incredible given his nearly six decades of experience in the music industry. These days, his concerts are celebratory affairs, with multiple generations of fans coming together to enjoy one of the true legends of American R&B. In epic performances that often last over two hours, Robinson sings hits from his entire career, dating back to early Miracles hits like “I Second That Emotion,” right through to newer tracks like "Don't Know Why" and "Love Bath," off his most recent album, 2009’s appropriately titled Time Flies When You're Having Fun.
From humble beginnings growing up poor in the north end of Detroit, Robinson first brought the Miracles together in 1955, at the age of just 15. Five years later, the group signed to Motown Records, and its first hit single, "Shop Around," became the young label’s first million-selling record. Another 25 hits followed for the band, including "Mickey's Monkey," "I Second That Emotion," "Baby Baby Don't Cry," and the No. 1 hit "Tears of a Clown." Robinson, then vice-president of Motown, started recording on his own, leading to hits like "A Quiet Storm," "Cruisin'," and "Just to See Her." His 2009 album Time Flies When You're Having Fun hit No. 10 on the R&B charts, and tickets continue to sell out for his concert tours, as fans await the opportunity to see this living legend.

by Max on 6/3/24Hard Rock Live Northern Indiana - GarySmokey played his old and new hits and sounded amazing. Over 60 years in the business and he never ceases to amaze me and his fans. However, i was disappointed that the autographed poster that was promised with the meet and greet didn’t happen.

I was able to walk right in, get my ticket, the people working at Hard Rock Northern Casino in Gary Indiana were super super helpful. I felt very important. BUT, the main experience was amazing, as always!! Smokey just knows how to do everything right!!!!!!!! I have seen him so many times, I really do not know how many, but every time I see that man, he gets better and better. Hard to believe? nope. Like a fine wine. He just gets better with time. I would recommend, if you have never seen Mr. Smokey Robinson, you better before it is too late. but don't take my seat. MY seat is always front and center!!!!

I was sitting next to two young adults and they seemed really into him and his music!! Keep going strong Smokey - your music, connectivity to your fan base, and basic energy is very heartwarming and inspirational!!

by Fezzywiz on 6/3/24Hard Rock Live Northern Indiana - GarySmokey told wonderful stories, his voice was very good and he has a great sense of humor. He interacted with the crowd numerous times brought a couple fans onstage at the end of the show and played for 2 hours. The Motown stories were stories that only Smokey has the insight too and he and Barry Gordy were the ones that got Motown off the ground and shot straight up like a rocket. When somone at Motown really needed a song with great potential they sought out Smokey. The band was rock solid with great musicians and the backup singers were top notch. A wonderful night of music and reflection and I am so happy that I got to see him at least once. If you are a Motown fan you will thank yourself for attending his show. OUTSTANDING, THANK YOU SMOKEY!

Did not appreciate how the venue Hard Rock Casino had Baby Boomers standing in line almost an hour to get inside the theater. They should have know a mostly older crowd would come out to see him. The concert itself was great❤️
