ZZ WARD IN CONCERT:

Blues-rock queen ZZ Ward is a soulful and sassy newcomer who's quickly making herself known with her robust vocals, intricate guitar playing, and signature fedora. Whether she's nailing a harmonica solo on "Grinnin' In Your Face" or serenading fans on the tear-jerking love ballad "Last Love Song", ZZ Ward puts on a thrilling live performance every time. Hot off the heels of a packed 2014 Coachella set, ZZ Ward will have fans dancing all night long on her thrilling, high-energy tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born Zsuzsanna Eva Ward, ZZ Ward got her start performing alongside her musician father at the age of 12. Several years later, she decided to pursue a full-time music career and moved to Los Angeles to begin work on her debut album. After collaborating with Ryan Tedder and Fitz from Fitz and the Tantrums, Ward broke out with her EP Criminal in 2012 and generated major buzz with her infectious, bluesy style. The demo attracted attention from big names like Kendrick Lamar and Freddie Gibbs, who were so enamored by her songs that they joined forces with the new singer and were featured on tracks from her full-length LP Til the Casket Drops.  Since then, the budding songstress has toured with guitar legend Eric Clapton, made appearances on a number of popular talk shows, and had her music featured in major films and television series -- all in a few short years. Back on the road, Ward will bring the house down as she treats audiences to a string of fan-favorites on her highly anticipated shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"ZZ is an amazing artist. She plays with a ton of energy. We have seen her in Vegas and this time she was even better. Can't wait to see her again."

"ZZ was wonderful and so was her band. I was surprised to see her play guitar, piano and rock out on the harp! The musicianship was top notch and she was really personal with the audience and often had us singing along. Did a really cool cover of Drake's 'Hold On, We’re Going Home' that was really creative. Awesome show!"

"She was really good and her band was really tight. I would recommend seeing her to anyone with ears who likes great music."

ZZ Ward was awesome. The problem is that it was suppose to start at 6:30 but the venue did not open the doors until 7 and did not start until 7:30. They did have two opening acts and ZZ did not come on until 10. 4 1/2 hours on my feet is way to long to stand in one spot. Next time I will have to have a seat.

ZZ Ward is always a great show, along with one the best venues in the nation. House of Blues is like no other venue in Chicago.

  • ZZ Ward rocked...but...

by ClevelandBormah on 3/26/14House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Normally, I have nothing but positives to say about a ZZ Ward experience, and in this case, the show itself was amazing (as usual)! However, the pre-show meet and greet left a bit be desired (although it was not ZZ's fault). My daughter and I arrived at the HOB Chicago at 4:45pm for a 5:30 meet and greet (at $100 per ticket). The soundcheck took longer than expected, which if anyone knows the business, is not unusual. (However, I almost wonder if ZZ's people even knew the meet and greet was to take place BEFORE doors. Normally, these events are scheduled POST-concert.) In any event, doors were scheduled to open to the general public at 6:30. At 7:00, we were about half of the way through the meet and greet session when we heard the venue had opened the doors to the general public because thay felt they could no longer hold them. I was told they felt ZZ was taking too long, which considering the number of people that paid the extra to meet her, was not the case. However, I would have been OK with the venue opening the doors had they roped off a section covering the front of the stage, thus reserving that section for the meet and greet folks. We paid considerably more for our tickets than general admission did, and although we did get to meet ZZ, we were also entitled to early floor access so that we could all stand up against the stage for the show. Yet by the time we made it to the floor, there was no room near the stage. In fact, the floor was two-thirds full already. My daughter and I ended up wiggling our way to the far left side of the stage...but literally right in front of the speakers...and we were lucky because most of the meet and greet folks had to stand in the rear of the venue since the show was sold out. Even with earplugs that were given to us, it was uncomfortable at best. We made the most of it because we care about ZZ and appreciate her talents, but with no accomodations made or subsequent compensation offered by the venue, it left a bad taste in my mouth. ZZ...you were your incredibly wonderful self and tore it up on stage! HOB Chicago? You have a beautiful venue there, but you could have and should have handled things better.

  • ZZ Ward - Awesome & Energetic -- the rest zzzzzzzz

by LaraBeth on 3/26/14House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

ZZ Ward herself was awesome. The venue not so much, the timing between sets not so much and the two opening acts...the second one made us want to fall asleep on our feet.

  • ZZ Ward is an amazing talent!! <3 LOVE!

ZZ Ward is a very down to earth/chill person. My daughter and I did the Meet & Greet (first Meet & Greet ever and so glad it was with ZZ). She was just so sweet. Her concert was great fun and so engaging. The fans in Chicago love ZZ!! Definitely going to see her again when she comes back to Chicago!! ZZ-you go girl!!

ZZ was wonderful and so was her band. I was surprised to see her play guitar, piano and rock out on the harp! The musicianship was top notch and she was really personal with the audience and often had us singing along. I wish I could have heard her vocals a little bit better but mostly that was due to the set up at the venue we were at. Did a really cool cover of Drake's "Going home" that was really creative. Awesome show! Highly recommended!!

  • ZZ Ward is simply AWESOME

by Athenry on 3/7/14Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

ZZ Ward is seriously amazing! Her vocals are intense and her guitarist is sick. She was just ON the whole concert and I loved every minute, especially in the intimate setting of the Paradise Rock Club. Her opening band, the O'Mys, were also fantastic! Both of their sounds were just unforgettable, I can't stop listening to their music!!

This was the 2nd time I've seen ZZ Ward live. She is so talented! Her voice is amazing, and she has a great live show. She mixes things up sometimes and plays different songs or remixes along with piano, guitar, and harmonica. The opening acts were great too, especially Grizfolk.

  • ZZ Ward and supporting bands - amazing !!!!

  • ZZ Ward's show was Awesome at the TLA!

by Knottydee on 3/3/14Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Great night of music. ZZ Ward did not let her fans down. She was jumping and singing and having a great time at the TLA Friday night. We had VIP seats with a great view but there's no bad spot in the place. She performed and Rocked It!! Her band was great as well. Nice full sound from the drum kit but it didn't over power ZZ's lyrics by any means. She had the place dancing, clapping and bobbing to the beats of her songs. Put Your Gun Down was excellent as always as well as some of her popular tunes. She also delighted us with a few new songs which were equally as good if not better!! This was my first time seeing ZZ and I have to say she did not let me down. I'll be at her next concert when she comes back to her hometown area of Philly. Rock on ZZ Ward!! It's great to hear a woman sing and play the blues like you do!!! Even the bands opening for her tour were great, the Omys and Grizfolk.

Great show! Was my second ZZ Ward show and I will be at every show she has in the area. Loved that she had a couple songs from Eleven Roses mixed in. I still have OverdUe in my head and it's been 3 days!!!

  • Unbelievable talent by ZZ Ward and opening acts

by Anonymous on 10/16/13Skyway Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

General Admission seating is always kind of exciting because you are able to move around and enjoy the music more. I was unfamiliar with James Bay before, but immediately bought his EP afterwards. Very talented and personable with the audience (and easy on the eyes too)! Besides "Sing Loud," I wasn't especially familiar with Alpha Rev's music either, but I am such a huge fan of their work now. Being entertaining and actually having musical abilities are different things and Alpha Rev nails both! Oh, the SAX SOLOS! I'm not a huge fan of the saxaphone, but it really did add to the performance. They covered Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" (covered by EVERYBODY on the planet), but they made it new and powerful. ZZ Ward is indescribable. Being familiar with the majority of the setlist usually adds to the enjoyment of the show, but hearing some new material blew me away. Hearing something from an album performed live always pushes the astonishment to the next level. ZZ's band is something to see. They are such talented guys and you can see and feel how much they all love making music together. I was lucky enough to see ZZ perform in Studio C with CIties 97 and I was breathless. Acoustic or full band, ZZ is worth seeing. IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO SEE ZZ WARD LIVE, YOU HAD BETTER DO SO! I was standing behind the light and sound box during the show and I will say that the lighting was pretty bad, but that has nothing to do with the artists. The sound guy did a great job and was really getting into the groove. :)
