ZZ Top Concert Schedule
ZZ Top is a legendary American rock band known for their blues-infused rock music, bawdy lyrics and long, red beards. ZZ Top tours include the 2017 Tonnage Tour, 2016 Hell Raisers Tour, and the 2013 La Futura Tour. ZZ Top live shows leave the audience laughing dancing and feeling like they are at a jam session with close friends, instead of a concert headlined by rock and roll legends. Their massive success has allowed all of their albums to reach gold or platinum status. The band's best selling album is 1983's Eliminator, which spawned the hit singles "Legs" and "Sharped Dress Man." The album went on to sell 10 million units, reaching diamond status and the 25 million records they've sold in the U.S. makes them one of the top 100 selling artists in the country. ZZ Top has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2004.
ZZ Top Background
ZZ Top formed in 1969 in Houston Texas with guitarist and lead vocalist Billy Gibbon, organist Lanier Greig and drummer Dan Mitchell. The name of the band came from Gibbons combining the names of B.B. King and Z.Z. Hill, when he noticed that many artists used their initials as their band's name. When ZZ King seemed too close to the originals he changed it to ZZ Top. The current lineup of the band consists of bassist and lead vocalist Dusty Hill, Billy Gibbon and drummer Frank Beard. ZZ Top's signature sound can best be described as blues-infused rock with elements of punk rock and new wave added through their use synthesizers. While Eliminator was the band's most successful album with 10 million albums sold, 1985's Afterburner was their highest charting album. All the singles from Afterburner were Top 40 hits and the album itself went on to sell five million copies. Other Top 40 singles include 1975's "Tush," 1977's "I Thank You," and 1981's "Gimme All Your Lovin'"Follow ZZ Top on social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook.
This concert was rocking!!! I love the back screen of the old video's.
This was the first time I was at Portsmouth, I was very impressed with the sound being open and outdoor. Very easy to park and get in and out of the show, also my sons first concert, He is 11 years old and is into my music (believe it or not ) and he was just amazed. wonderful place to see a concert and I will be back again
WOW what great concert and the nTelos is wonderful
I first saw ZZ Top 28 years ago and I have to tell you they still play a high energy and musically tight show.
To tell the truth, the lead in band was more fun to watch. ZZ Top was very late getting onto the stage. They sang some old favorites and then there was the crap. The attitude was there but the performance was not worth the wait.
Don't waste your time unless you just want the nostalgia.... the sound was terrible and the guys, let's face it, are just gettin' too old to bust a rhyme anymore. It was disappointing they didn't even stay around for a single encore and just walked off stage.
OWESOME THEY WERE GREAT, ALOT OF FUN , WOULD DEFFINTLY GO BACK TO SEE THEM THE GREATEST SHOW YET.WELL WORTH THE TIME AND MONEY.THANKS AGAIN FOR THE HEADS UP ON THIS CONCERT.
ZZTop is an amazing showband and keeps you rocking all night long with your favorite ZZ tunes. Love them and I always try to catch them everytime they come around the area. I love The Little Ole Band from Texas and hope to see them again real soon, can't get enough of them.
sounds and lights were great zz tops still knows how to rock & roll great concert loved it
Great Show. ZZ TOP sounded much better than the last time I saw them. The only reason I would not give Five Stars was the fact that a few of my favorite songs were left out of the set. My seats were not that great for the price but still a very good show.
This was the best ZZ Top concert I've been to. Each and every concert just seems to get better and better. My husband and I loved every single second. They really were on "Top" of their game that night. The back drop with all those lights, pictures and video clips was the best we have ever seen. We just wanted it to go on and on.
ZZ Top still ROCKS! They are wonderful, however seeing them at the IP Casino in Biloxi, MS was an insult to ZZ Top. The crowd was pathetic! The people sat in their seats, and didn't even move their heads to the beat much less stand up. Come on everyone, this is ZZ Top! They were ROCKING, and the crowd acted as if they were 90-100 years old. I will never go to see a concert at a casino again, unless its someone like Yani. Then and only then, would it be ok to sit in your seat like a zombie. I honestly feel that ZZ Top was not respected at their appearance at the casino.....to bad for them. However, I plan on going to see ZZ Top at a regular auditorium where they are given the true respect they deserve. These guys look great and sound fantastic....oh, and the light show is very cool.
ZZ Top brings something to the stage that is a must see event. Their great duo gitar playing is fantastic and their stage presence is always unforgetable. Go see the show, experience greatness.
They still have the showmanship which got them to the top. They haven't lost their voices or their musical flair. It was good to hear the old stuff.
The concert and the seats were excellent. I would've enjoyed the concert a whole lot more however, had the folks in front of stayed sitting in their seats, instead of standing for the entire concert (have these people NEVER been to a concert before?). That is why my wife and I left half way through the concert (if you're sitting just 12 rows back and can see anything, you might as well be sitting in your car listening to them on the radio...you'll be a lot more comfortable).
How 3 guys can make that enormous sound is beyond me---we've seen 10-piece bands that cannot compete with the music that comes from ZZ Top's 2 guitars and 1 drum set! They do not fail to rock the audience from start to finish--both times we've seen them have been great concerts---we would go again and again if they came more often!
DON'T LET THERE AGE FOOL YOU, ZZ TOP ROCKS JUST AS HARD AS THE YOUNGER ONES, BUT WITH BETTER MUSIC. ZZ TOP IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST CONCERTS I HAVE EVER SEEN. KEEP IT ROCKING ZZ.
plain and simply zz top is ''the rock and roll band!'' it was amazing and worth every cent. the guys still got it, they rock like no one in the business. the only bad thing is now all other shows will be only okay. after a zz top show you remeber what rock and roll really is and should be.
ZZ Top was at the top of their game in Portsmouth, Va. Their outstanding music played flawlessly, kept the crowd excited and wanting more. Billy, Dusty and Frank did not disappoint throughout the entire evening. I've seen them several times through out the years and their talent has not diminished. If you have a chance to see them live, do it.
ZZ Top has always put on a good show, and this one was no exception (I've seen them 5x). Like any other show, it was formula; they did all the 'expected' things (for example, fuzzy guitars when they played "Legs") They did play several tracks I haven't heard in a very long time, live, or on the radio, which was a pleasant surprise I was also surprised that cameras *were* allowed (unlike other venues in the area.) Opening act was good, but more country than rock, so I didn't know any of their music. Orchestra pit tickets were only 47; in contrast, their next show, (at a much larger venue), orchestra pit tickets are 125. Too expensive - I will not go.
