Zeds Dead on Tour
Veterans of the EDM festival circuit, Toronto's Zeds Dead are masters of unleashing singles to the masses to get everyone stoked for their live show. And over the summer of 2019, they dropped multiple tracks to do just that. The frenetic "Lift You Up," an accelerated synth-punk sprint that's liable to turn the dance tent into a mosh pit. "Rescue" — a collaboration with Dutch producer Dion Timmer and Toronto diva Delaney Jane — splits the difference between bass-wobbled beats and edgy alt-rock energy. But "Stars Tonight" — featuring Dutch duo DROELOE — leaps from piano-laced serenity to future-bass freakery, with heart-racing ascents and queasy drops that ensure their sets strike the right balance of euphoria and anarchy.
Zeds Dead in Concert
The Toronto-based duo of Dylan Mamid (aka DC) and Zachary Rapp-Rovan (aka Hooks) first came together in the mid-2000s under the name Mass Productions, a project steeped in their love of boom-bapped hip-hop. But as EDM came to dominate the city's club scene at the turn of the decade, the duo caught the wave and rebranded themselves Zeds Dead (a quote from Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction). While the 2010 single "Rude Boy" captures them still transitioning out of old-school breaks toward nu-rave sonics, the series of EPs they released through Diplo's Mad Decent imprint over the course of 2012 and 2014 saw them change things up. They retrofitted their sound for the festival circuit (take, for example, the steep drops and subterranean bass of "Hadouken"), and they also initiated alt-rock crossovers with the likes of Twin Shadow and Perry Farrell. After launching their own label, Deadbeat, Zeds Dead released their first proper album statement, the Juno Award–nominated Northern Lights, in 2016, with a wildly eclectic guest list (Diplo, Pusha T, Weezer's Rivers Cuomo) that speaks to their ever-evolving fusion of sun-dappled EDM, gritty rap production and rock power.
Awesome show for a smaller venue. definitely some good talent, Araabmuzik didnt play, which was pretty disappointing. Zeds Dead was awesome, as well as XI.
Zeds Dead was awesome, sick set, and XI Gamma was a great opener. Starland Ballroom is a pretty crappy venue in the middle of no where New Jersey and not what I expected.
Zeds killed it Friday night! wish the concert went to four in the morning but owell. ears are still ringing!
I wish it could have kept going! It was amazing. There was a contagious energy in the crowd as they danced and danced and danced all night long.
Wolfpack the opener for Zeds Dead in Seattle was so sick! Zeds Dead was awesome for the hour they were on then more Wolfpack. Had a great time just wanted to see more Zeds Dead.
Zeds dead rocked in Rhode island ct at lupos, they are my favorite group. I believe everyone should attend one of their shows.
There was so much bass. The back drop was in the shape of a tomb stone but wasn't uncovered until Zeds Dead came on.
Zeds Dead killed it. The show was such a good time and the energy was so good. I would go a million times more.
Look at the title? Lol. But seriously way too many openers, Zeds was only on for like 2-2 1/2 hours, & the 3 hours before was kinda lame.
I have seen Zeds 4 times now and they throw down like no one else! This is an unforgettable show. If they are ever in your town you will not want to miss these guys!
The show was very fun. I love the Ogden. It is such an intimate venue.
Craziest show I have ever been to hands down!!! Should have gone the second night but I was at PANTyRAID!!!
Bad ass bass. Zeds dead had sweat dripping from the roof! And the bass pounding
Zeds Dead KILLED it Saturday night at the Ogden! They had so much energy and really worked well with the MC. It was clear that they are on top of their game. I have seen them 5 times and this was by far, above and beyond, the best time yet. It was so dirty that I couldn't help but whomp the entire time they were playing. You would be a fool to miss them!
Zeds Dead Killed It. Craziest night in d-town thus far
AMAZING! The best show I have been to in a long time! Zeds threw down!! and the openers were some of the best I've heard in a while too!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND SEEING THEM. I would absolutely go again!!
My son was so excited I bought him a ticket for his first concert ever at age 17 well he went with his friends all amped up for this only to get to the gate and he was not able to go because they do not accept student ID so another parent had to drive all the way there and pick him up and bring him home so all the other kids he went with could still go to the concert. I had to work late that night so was unavailable. I felt so bad for my son as he worked so hard to pay for the $41.00 ticket. BIG BIG BUMMER!!!
Favorite concerts of all time. Went Friday and Saturday and they threw down both nights. Couldn't have asked for a better set either night. Both shows were completely different but absolutely amazing both nights! ZEDS DEAD BABY!
Incredible performance by zeds dead. even though it took until 12:30 for zeds dead to come on, it was worth it. go see these guys
zeds dead sounds like they just press play up there, but their songs are so sweet it doesn't even matter. If you dont know who they are or haven't heard any of their songs then i would definitely recommend to see them in concert cause their show is awesome. check em out!!!!
