Zeds Dead on Tour
Veterans of the EDM festival circuit, Toronto's Zeds Dead are masters of unleashing singles to the masses to get everyone stoked for their live show. And over the summer of 2019, they dropped multiple tracks to do just that. The frenetic "Lift You Up," an accelerated synth-punk sprint that's liable to turn the dance tent into a mosh pit. "Rescue" — a collaboration with Dutch producer Dion Timmer and Toronto diva Delaney Jane — splits the difference between bass-wobbled beats and edgy alt-rock energy. But "Stars Tonight" — featuring Dutch duo DROELOE — leaps from piano-laced serenity to future-bass freakery, with heart-racing ascents and queasy drops that ensure their sets strike the right balance of euphoria and anarchy.
Zeds Dead in Concert
The Toronto-based duo of Dylan Mamid (aka DC) and Zachary Rapp-Rovan (aka Hooks) first came together in the mid-2000s under the name Mass Productions, a project steeped in their love of boom-bapped hip-hop. But as EDM came to dominate the city's club scene at the turn of the decade, the duo caught the wave and rebranded themselves Zeds Dead (a quote from Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction). While the 2010 single "Rude Boy" captures them still transitioning out of old-school breaks toward nu-rave sonics, the series of EPs they released through Diplo's Mad Decent imprint over the course of 2012 and 2014 saw them change things up. They retrofitted their sound for the festival circuit (take, for example, the steep drops and subterranean bass of "Hadouken"), and they also initiated alt-rock crossovers with the likes of Twin Shadow and Perry Farrell. After launching their own label, Deadbeat, Zeds Dead released their first proper album statement, the Juno Award–nominated Northern Lights, in 2016, with a wildly eclectic guest list (Diplo, Pusha T, Weezer's Rivers Cuomo) that speaks to their ever-evolving fusion of sun-dappled EDM, gritty rap production and rock power.

Great show, zeds dead completely rocked the ogden.
amazing best concert i've ever seen, can't wait until they come back
Most amazing Dubstep concert I have ever been too!! A small portion of my soul died..
Im so glad I made the last minute decision to come to this show! It was amazing and the performance was flawless. The set list was awesome and the energy of the show was great. I would definitely tell anyone to go see zeds dead whenever they get the chance!
ZEDS DEAD WAS CRAAAAZZZYYY. I have waited for years to Zeds Dead- they were first dubstep I ever listened to. THEY WILL NOT DISAPPOINT. So much love coming from the crowd. Everyone was so happy and nice! Only thing was- I really didn't like Big Chocolate, who opened. It just felt out of place from Zeds Dead. It was just off and was unpleasant. Zeds Dead made up for it completely though!!
The opening act coco or whatever was not that great but, Zeds dead did an awesome job as always and the speakers were really good! Awesome place for a little rave!
I understand that the show is for all ages, but should still last past 12. I got there at like 11:15 and only heard the last bit and the encore. Zeds Dead is siiiick, don't get me wrong. It should just end later.
One of the best small shows i've been to in a long time. Outside of some minor sound gripes this show was awesome. Zeds playing coffee break and journey of a lifetime was something I had been waiting to see for ever!
It was all ages so there were quite a few teenie boppers acting like idiots. Other then that the vibes were good and the music was amazing.
The show was simply amazing. Mt Eden really got the crowd pumped, and their music sounded amazing. Then when zeds dead came on, everything sounded unreal. The crowd was going insane and I simply loved it.
great show!! hated the venue though, very confusing. also, the hordes of little 15 year olds outside trying to get in with fakes wearing fishnets and gallons of makeup were kind of annoying too.
The show was awesome but i would never suggest seeing anything at the bestbuy theatre again I showed up at 930 for the 10 event and didnt get in till 1130 the venue itself was incredible but the staff was terrible I missed half the show these people have no idea what they are doing
I had a great time, even though I was alone- this only lasted for about 20 minutes and I was dancing with a group of lesbians from NJ! I didn't really care for the opening act which was this little red headed guy named "Big Chocolate" What a name. Other than that Mt. Eden was awesome! They kind of mixed things up with their songs (Sierra Leone) And they played new songs as well still they had the crowd twerking and jerking in every way possible. It was pretty obvious that the crowd was mostly there for Zed's Dead, which was cool but their songs are mostly remixes of other peoples work so that says a lot about their originality. Other than that the crowd was kind of trashy- a lot of the kids there were from the suburbs and they smoked both cigarettes and weed inside the venue (I'm all for smoking weed and listening to dubstep, but this just kinda made me feel uneasy) As for the cigarette smoking I was burned twice, and the asshole who burned me didn't even say sorry. If you don't mind the mixed age crowd, and the smell of musky white kids then go and enjoy the music!
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend to a friend. Zed's Dead was good but you could tell they were amateur.. I mean they just put different peoples songs together and didn't put much effort into mixing the beats.. they were just laid on top of each other. I feel like the crowd was most pumped when they played Bassnectar.. like seriously? But I am not trying to bash Zed's Dead either.. I think they have potential. I had fun regardless but thats because I like to go to shows.
this show was life changing...womped my face off! again please!!! and thanks boys.
It was amazing. I had so much fun. One of the best night's ever.
IT WAS AWESOME. I HAD SO MUCH FUN.I was right near the front and it was just... so awesome.
Zeds Dead really knows how to put on a show. Amazing bass, crazy light show, phenomenal music. Do not miss this!!
I guess it was worth the $25 but not a penny more. Only two DJs played and Zeds Dead werent as great as the hype.
