Awesome performance! We stood most of the time and danced to the music! Best OC Fair Date Ever!

First off the opening act was just great and Young the Giants energy onstage was awesome! it was worth every penny and more. They have so much talents and completely demonstrate it onstage!

The Steelwells were the highlight of the evening. My friend and I left 3 songs into Young the Giant.

I enjoyed being at the concert but didn't leave feeling amazing like I usually do after seeing a concert. The opening band, the Steelwells, were probably one of the better opening bands I've seen but were just okay. On the other hand, Young the Giant definitely could play live, let alone Sameer (the lead singer) knew how to sing live and that's what I call a real musician. I've been a fan of Young the Giant since I first saw them play at the high school I attended, when they were still known as the Jakes , so I expected a greater performance. I expected more entertainment from them and I didn't get that from the band as a whole, just from Sameer alone. I've been to other concerts before but this one didn't get me to stand on my feet the whole time, and it wasn't just me that wasn't on my feet the whole time. Young the Giant sound and look good live but they just need to find a way to really entertain and keep everyone on their feet. I'd (maybe) recommend indie fans to see them.

  • Good job guys!

This concert was even better than the one in Charlotte, NC! Great vibe, good new songs, great crowd! These guys thrive when they really loosen up and play their hearts out, in the second half of the show.

  • YOUNG THE GIANT EVEN BETTER LIVE!

by Anonymous on 7/24/12The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

Seriously, this is one of those bands that give you goosebumps live. They know how to put on a show, and I personally think they sound better live than they do on their album. So talented!

Loved the venue. Loved the band. Completed my entire fair experience!

first off, the steelwells couldn't be a better band to open for them :D everyone of their songs were catchy! great new music from young the giant's next years album <3 loved it! I was out of my chair the whole time singing & jumping around! I wish some of the crowd would have looked like they enjoyed it as much as I did. they could have been more enthusiastic by but staying seated most of the time -__- if you're going to a concert for a band that great the least you could do is look like you're at least happy to be there! overall 5 star peformance & no better place than the OC Fair to have them there <3

Great performance and a very energetic group to watch.

  • Young the Giant are stupid good

by RealApps on 7/24/12The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

First off, if you happen to go to a concert at the Pacific Ampitheater at night, do yourself a favor and bring a jacket even if it's midsummer. The Steelwells were really good actually. I hadn't heard of them at all, nor did I bother to look them up before the concert. However, their music is mildly similar to Young the Giant. more mellow, less stage energy. I enjoyed the music, but they seemed to lack a lot of confidence on stage. You can watch all the videos you want of Young the Giant on YouTube or whatever, but it does not do justice whatsoever to the performance you see live. Sameer's voice is a lot grittier and he definitely uses more range. The instruments were also heavier than the album so I really enjoyed that. It's refreshing to hear them tweak some of their songs with changes in melodies and pace and all that. Also, they played three new songs and a couple old ones from when they were The Jakes. The band has so much energy, it's ridiculous. Even some of their more mellow songs like Apartment got everyone up and dancing. Overall, DO NOT pass up the opportunity to see them, even if you're a casual fan.

  • AMAZING PERFORMERS
