About

The classic Mel Brooks movie is ALIVE... and it's Broadway's award-winning MONSTER HIT!

You'll have a monstrously good time at this spectacular new production, winner of the 2008 Outer Critics Circle Award and the Broadway.com Audience Award for BEST MUSICAL!

Don't miss the sensational cast delivering all your favorite moments from the classic film, plus brand-new show-stopping numbers for the Broadway stage, including "Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Puttin' on the Ritz."

This wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend follows bright young Dr. Frankenstein (that's Fronkensteen) as he attempts to create a monster—but not without scary and hilarious complications. The brains behind the laughter is mad genius and three-time Tony winner Mel Brooks himself—who wrote the music and lyrics and co-wrote the book—along with his record-breaking team from The Producers: five-time Tony-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman and three-time Tony-winning writer Thomas Meehan.

"THE BROADWAY MUSICAL AT ITS DIZZIEST, GLITZIEST AND FUNNIEST!"

-Clive Barnes, New York Post

    Entertaining

by Lafter909x on 9/15/19Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

This was such a fun show, so entertaining, so funny. The cast is wonderful, we loved it. It is one of the best shows I've seen. I'm still thinking about some of the characters, and routines, so it was that good.

Love the movie? You'll love this!

by BarryL on 9/15/19Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

Was anxious to see this musical as I've always liked Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein movie. Wasn't sure how musical songs would be included, but they were and as they were written by Mel Brooks himself, they were funny and all well done. All of the classic movie scenes/dialog still remains (with a few exceptions) so the show was funny throughout. The cast was excellent, great acting, singing, AND dancing. If you've never seen the movie, you'll still enjoy this funny musical about the reanimation of life and the gigantic A.B normal monster!

Great show filling one with laughter

    by T. R. on 9/11/19Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

The performances were all very good. The lead actor was excellent in the role. The staging was probably the best we have seen at the Walnut. The audience was roaring with laughter throughout the production.

    Very funny!!

by smooshie on 9/10/19Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

We are from NY and often go to Broadway shows. Young Frankenstein had no famous actors (at least none I know of) and it was just as good if not better than a Broadway show. It was hysterical and l laughed so much my sides hurt. Very professional and talented actors and actresses. Two thumbs up for a job well done.

    Awesome Show!!!

by JennCan on 3/7/18Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - Columbia

This was my first experience at Toby's Dinner Theater. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. The food was good... but the show was GREAT! We saw Young Frankenstein. I wasn't sure how they'd make the classic movie into a musical but they pulled it off. Our waiter played Igor.. he was fantastic! both in the play and as our waiter. I definitely recommend the show and the venue. We will definitely be returning for another show!

    Young Frankenstein was fabulously funny!!!

by RisaB on 2/18/18Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - Columbia

Before we went I wondered how they would be able to pull it off. They sure did. It was a wonderful evening. It was magic. If you loved the movie you will enjoy this show. There were a few moments with a bit of graphic language. Seeing the story "up close and personal" helped us feel part of the story. We loved it! Thanks.

The performance just enfolded you. There was motion and sound everywhere. Everybody was included, not just the principals but all the supportive members of the cast. I'm so proud of the WV theater!

Outstandingly funny! Each actor gave a 110% performance. Sorry to see the run end. There is not a bad seat in the Drury Lane Theatre.

    Not for children!

by jjcbl on 3/19/14Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

I brought my 11 year old to see the play, not really knowing the story. My mistake! The show's content is at least half about sex, some of it vulgar. It was very raunchy, I would not recommend this show for families or children younger than high school.

    The BEST!!!

by MaggieMig on 3/19/14Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The show was simply AMAZING!!! One of the best Broadway shows I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen quite a few. This was my fourth Young Frankenstein production. I saw one in Chicago, Washington and at a local theater in Joliet. This production was the BEST! The whole cast was truly wonderful. Great voices and simply amazing acting! I was truly impressed and wanted to give them a standing ovation at the end of each song :) I was pleasantly surprised by the venue (my first time at Drury Lane) and the whole production. Even though the staging was not as “grand” as the Broadway in Chicago version, it did not take away from the whole experience. I was impressed by the creativity and cleverness of the staging solutions used. Most of all, I was beyond impressed by the voices and acting of the AMAZING CAST!!! Thumbs up! I would love to see it again!

    Young Frankenstein

by Pat1952 on 3/18/14Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

This was our first trip to Drury Lane- -we moved from Iowa last year- -and we really loved the experience. First-we were very impressed with the quality of your performers. They were very professional, nobody missed any lines, the music was great and everybody looked like they were having a good time, even though they have been doing this for weeks. To me, to have a great performance of Young Frankenstein you must have a great Frau Blűcher and you had a great one. We enjoyed that Igor included some contemporary news items in some of the things he said. Second, your facility is wonderful and last, the meal we had was delicious.

Totally hilarious especially Igor and Frau

by DonCreative on 3/17/14Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Absolutely nuts...free-spirited...actors have total fun and working their hearts out to please the audience and themselves...a true winner of a story told over and over and over...and this time even funnier than the movie...
