About

WWE SmackDown Live on Tour

A smackdown is when one gets beaten in battle so completely that there's no doubt about who won the fight. There could be no more appropriate name for this WWE staple, one that has seen some of the bloodiest and most intense fights of the modern WWE era.

After taking over the WWE in the early 1980s, CEO Vince McMahon was on a tear to step up the organization's game and bring its message to new generations and demographics of fans. He started by hiring prospective superstars like Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper and setting up events like WrestleMania.

By the late '90s, new additions like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Mick Foley, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Kane, and The Hardy Boyz necessitated something... bigger. This period was called the "Attitude Era," it needed an appropriately grand event to showcase these newer fighters, and Vince McMahon had come up with storylines that required more space. McMahon created WWE SmackDown Live in 1999 for just this purpose. The new weekly event was a brand extension meant to exist alongside Raw, another massive wrestling show, but eventually the two overlapped.

Since it arrived in the middle of the "Attitude Era," where fighters were becoming increasingly abrasive and personal with their drama, SmackDown featured more adult-oriented content, politically incorrect characters, and immersive and intense feuds. And for many, it was as important as something like Monday Night Football.

SmackDown has been broadcast from more than 160 arenas in more than 140 cities, and it has taken place in seven countries. As of October 2018, the show had taped more than 1,000 episodes. Throughout its history, SmackDown has had a solid diversity of material, with special episodes like "Christmas from Baghdad," the "Eddie Guerrero Tribute Show," "SmackDown All-Star Kick-Off," "Sin City SmackDown," and "The Rock Return Show."

    meh

by meh on 9/27/19Chase Center - San Francisco

I'm not a fan and brought my family because kids are fans. I found the entire event fairly boring. It was very much oriented to the TV audience. I felt there was a lack of action for many of the matches. Also, some of the matches seemed to last maybe 15 minutes at most. They seemed over before they began. It was hard to hear the characters even when miked. And the 205 match - wow . It went on for a LONG time where very little happened and it was super super boring. It also felt like I was watching one big advertisement. Not only was there promotion of WWE within the matches themselves, but on the big scree between matches. And there were promotions for video games and I can't even remember what else on the screens. Seemed an unending promo show rather than a show built to entertain me. My favorite part of WWE from a non-fan is the entrances of the wrestlers. They seem so dramatic and fun. In this case, they did not come close to meeting expectations. Some music and a trot down the short walkway to the ring is what was on offer for entrances. Not a single fire work or something to add more flair or drama. In summary - BOOOOOORING

    Disappointment

Poor attendance, poor superstar appearances and no post dark match which had been advertised but did not happen.

    SDLive

by LegitHugger on 9/27/19Chase Center - San Francisco

Had the greatest seats. Right next to the railing. Ticketmaster was having a Labor Day sale and I got floor seats for $67! I was able to see sasha banks and bayley up close, not to mention my pictures came out beautiful. The staff was great, the show was unforgettable

    Smackdown at the Chase

    by S G on 9/27/19Chase Center - San Francisco

The building is amazing, the WWE show was great. Two things to consider: 1. The sound went in and out a little bit at the event, it could have been louder. 2. The food place I went to ran out of cups and didn't seem to have a very organized system. Customers kept getting into the cash only line when they had only a card and vice versa

    Best night ever

by Tini on 9/27/19Chase Center - San Francisco

We brought my dad to this even because he has been a fan of wrestling for over 40 years. It’s what brings us together as a family every Monday and Tuesday nights. My husband, my cousin, and myself were fans as kids and coming to WWE events have been the best time ever. This is only our second show and we’ve had the time of of lives every time. We got some pretty awesome seats ( even though we’d like to be closer) and the whole experience was amazing. Being able to take a chair home was the icing on the cake.

    Best show ever

by Dragonranger on 9/27/19Chase Center - San Francisco

Everything was great from start to finish. Awesome staff and was very helpful. This was a late bday gift for my girlfriend and she had a blast. Was our first WWE event, in general, and had the best time. Will definitely come here again for events and WWE when they are here. This time front row.

    It was good

by Malpat on 8/19/19SNHU Arena - Manchester

I go to many WWE events so I don't always remember them completely but this Smackdown was pretty good. It was at the SNHU arena. I had a ramp seat like usual. Good seat no matter which side or row you are on although the closer to the ring, the better.

    Great Experience! Needs Easier Parking

by SRS on 7/16/19SNHU Arena - Manchester

The overall experience was awesome. Very easy to walk to and very easy setup. Needs some partnerships for parking venues. I had to park at an independent parking lot, which feels a tad shady.

    Disappoint

    by M. C. on 7/12/19SNHU Arena - Manchester

My son was super excited to attend this as this was his first event. There was more talking and ads then there was time wrestling. I’m glad I didn’t pay for floor seats. Won’t go again.

    Fun night, small crowd

by BBruiser on 7/12/19SNHU Arena - Manchester

The show WWE put on was fun. The arena however was lacking. Definitely need an upgrade. Also the amount of seats blacked out was embarrassing and before the show we saw a group of “seat fillers” being coached on how to act during Smackdown.

    Great Time

by Sarah on 7/12/19SNHU Arena - Manchester

The arena staff were so friendly and helpful through the whole process of getting and security and seating. The were present everywhere which gave us a sense of security. The show was awesome and very entertaining. I only bought drinks as we had just eaten dinner. Parking was painless. Getting in and out of the arena was painless. My only complaint would be how loud the show was. So much louder than last time. Otherwise everything was great.

    Disappointed

    by j. e. on 7/12/19SNHU Arena - Manchester

Arena was dirty first off. did not use jumbotron to film match so small children could not see what was going on. We have s special needs child and the wwe trucks took up all handicapped parking spots outside arena and they would not let us park in the lot where there were clearly multiple open handicapped spots available had to park mile away very disappointed will never go to this arena again much better experience in boston garden

    Smackdown live

    by M. S. on 7/12/19SNHU Arena - Manchester

The superstars of Smackdown live are amazing. The experience they give kids(and big kids like me) is like none other. The Wwe does it right. The SNHU arena on the other hand, I hand a few awful experiences with ushers who were dinosaurs and very over zealous. Wouldn’t take it out on WWE, event was UNREAL.

I am not able to go up and down stairs very easily, it was a great show but the place where it was at was not as good.
