About

WWE SmackDown Live on Tour

A smackdown is when one gets beaten in battle so completely that there's no doubt about who won the fight. There could be no more appropriate name for this WWE staple, one that has seen some of the bloodiest and most intense fights of the modern WWE era.

After taking over the WWE in the early 1980s, CEO Vince McMahon was on a tear to step up the organization's game and bring its message to new generations and demographics of fans. He started by hiring prospective superstars like Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper and setting up events like WrestleMania.

By the late '90s, new additions like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Mick Foley, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Kane, and The Hardy Boyz necessitated something... bigger. This period was called the "Attitude Era," it needed an appropriately grand event to showcase these newer fighters, and Vince McMahon had come up with storylines that required more space. McMahon created WWE SmackDown Live in 1999 for just this purpose. The new weekly event was a brand extension meant to exist alongside Raw, another massive wrestling show, but eventually the two overlapped.

Since it arrived in the middle of the "Attitude Era," where fighters were becoming increasingly abrasive and personal with their drama, SmackDown featured more adult-oriented content, politically incorrect characters, and immersive and intense feuds. And for many, it was as important as something like Monday Night Football.

SmackDown has been broadcast from more than 160 arenas in more than 140 cities, and it has taken place in seven countries. As of October 2018, the show had taped more than 1,000 episodes. Throughout its history, SmackDown has had a solid diversity of material, with special episodes like "Christmas from Baghdad," the "Eddie Guerrero Tribute Show," "SmackDown All-Star Kick-Off," "Sin City SmackDown," and "The Rock Return Show."

    Good Time with the Family

by Brian on 7/18/22Amway Center - Orlando

My son’s first WWE event live was a great time. The show was missing some Universal title picture star power without Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar on the show, but otherwise was a lot of fun and many other top Superstars carried the show and made it entertaining.

They should have all the TV's on even at the concessions sta

by Nicole on 7/18/22Amway Center - Orlando

We went to the concession stand but we couldn't see the ending of that wrestling match. The TV's weren't on the wrestling.

Wish the Amway staff was more knowledgeable

by Steph on 7/18/22Amway Center - Orlando

We arrived early specifically to spend time at the sky lounge bar on the sixth floor. After 25 minutes and talking to four different employees we were basically told that there is no sixth floor or kept getting directed to random locations. We gave up even after showing them on the app that the place did exist. To add insult, as were leaving there are huge banners in the walkways encouraging people to visit the sky lounge. Yet the staff didn’t even know about it.

Great venue, but disappointing Smackdown episode

by Nilla on 7/18/22Amway Center - Orlando

Smackdown has had many great episodes since Wrestlemania. However, the 7-15-22 episode was very bland and disappointing with not much action or mic-promos. There were no in-ring promos and the usual stars did not show. House shows lately are better than this televised show.

    Disappointed

by Bryan on 7/18/22Amway Center - Orlando

Show was missing all the big names and really just slot fillers, lots of commercial time out and waist of air time. Very disappointed as my son was looking forward to seeing the STARS.... where was Roman. Ronda. Etc..... lots of money very disappointed

    So-so

by Mike on 7/18/22Amway Center - Orlando

Main stars of Smackdown were a no-show, especially leading into SummerSlam; no Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, Etc. The off-air match after the show was better than a few of the on-air matches. Good show, but nothing special (rather watch it at home - not worth the money).

    About what I expected

by Chris on 7/18/22Amway Center - Orlando

I went for the experience and it was really cheesy. Only barely more exciting than watching it on TV...and I don't do that either. My daughter and I spent the majority of the time laughing at all the people who actually took it seriously, as if it were real. It's off my to-do list, thank goodness.

    Excellent experience

by Maria on 7/18/22Amway Center - Orlando

My kid was so happy! Is an exciting time, the presentation, the organization, everything was ok. The only detail was the end of the show. I mean was so "nothing" we was in a show and from one moment to other everything ends without noticed. But in generally we're happy with the show

    Underwhelmed

by Scotcj on 7/18/22Amway Center - Orlando

First time seeing wwe live. Took advantage of being while being on holiday in the same area. While price for tickets was reasonable the show itself went on far to long with far to many adverts and very little actual wrestling. Wont be in a hurry to go to a live event again.

Not as good as past events

by CJ on 7/18/22Amway Center - Orlando

No big names were at the event like the top wrestlers. I feel like it was a waste of money. My kids were expecting to see the wrestlers they usually see on TV but for some reason, the Orlando event has sub-par performers

    Decent Show

by ajf5 on 9/27/19Chase Center - San Francisco

SD Live was okay. Kind of regretted not attending Raw. They could have done a lot more to fire up the crowd.

    Amazing

    by C. L. on 9/27/19Chase Center - San Francisco

Roman reigns needed more time to be out there, lots of jumbo tron "commercials" that they should do without to give wrestlers more air time!!

Im going AEW. The show was just bad for wrestling standards

    by A. S. on 9/27/19Chase Center - San Francisco

The smackdown show was bad. Too many commercial breaks. Too many backstage interviews and too much talking in the ring. I came to see wrestling and i paid over $200 to see a wrestling show. Not a drama show to build up for the next event. This ending of the show was the worst. Im swiching to AEW and paying for any more WWE shows.
