About

WWE SmackDown Live on Tour

A smackdown is when one gets beaten in battle so completely that there's no doubt about who won the fight. There could be no more appropriate name for this WWE staple, one that has seen some of the bloodiest and most intense fights of the modern WWE era.

After taking over the WWE in the early 1980s, CEO Vince McMahon was on a tear to step up the organization's game and bring its message to new generations and demographics of fans. He started by hiring prospective superstars like Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper and setting up events like WrestleMania.

By the late '90s, new additions like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Mick Foley, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Kane, and The Hardy Boyz necessitated something... bigger. This period was called the "Attitude Era," it needed an appropriately grand event to showcase these newer fighters, and Vince McMahon had come up with storylines that required more space. McMahon created WWE SmackDown Live in 1999 for just this purpose. The new weekly event was a brand extension meant to exist alongside Raw, another massive wrestling show, but eventually the two overlapped.

Since it arrived in the middle of the "Attitude Era," where fighters were becoming increasingly abrasive and personal with their drama, SmackDown featured more adult-oriented content, politically incorrect characters, and immersive and intense feuds. And for many, it was as important as something like Monday Night Football.

SmackDown has been broadcast from more than 160 arenas in more than 140 cities, and it has taken place in seven countries. As of October 2018, the show had taped more than 1,000 episodes. Throughout its history, SmackDown has had a solid diversity of material, with special episodes like "Christmas from Baghdad," the "Eddie Guerrero Tribute Show," "SmackDown All-Star Kick-Off," "Sin City SmackDown," and "The Rock Return Show."

It was misleading as far as the Undertaker being there--it did not say he was just going to walk out on stage and walk back in--that is who I payed for my son to see

    Smackdown was cool

Great Show - my son loved it! Security took an hour to get inside, but was glad to have it. Only advice would be that doors should open up earlier to accommodate the security inspections. Arrived at 5 - didn't get in until after 6 - show started at 6:30 - no time to really walk around and check things out.

As always, the WWE brings it!

WWE consistently puts on an awesome show. This was probably one of the best shows I have ever been to (including the pay-per-view I've attended). The matches were great, the energy was high, and the pyro is great in person. The crowd was VERY into the entire show, and you could tell the performers were really feeding off that. WWE is also a GREAT value for the money. The show started at 6:30 with NXT, which was about 45 minutes, then they went to Superstars (about 20 minutes) and then onto the actual show, which ended at about 10:00 PM. That's 3.5 hours, and I paid $30 bucks for my ticket (and those were good seats). Factoring in parking and food, I still spent less than $50 on the whole night. You can't get that anywhere else.

    Really solid wrestling show

by AKaufman on 3/17/11Sprint Center - Kansas City

A great crowd turned up for the taping, and that helps a lot in a show like this; most of the wrestlers got good responses. The dark match was satisfying, really good work from both face and heel. NXT was, well, NXT- not a great wrestling show but there was some fun to be had in the character interactions and some of the promos. The Superstars match was kind of a disappointment, though, and went on for longer than our interest warranted. Smackdown itself, however, was great! A very wrestling-heavy show without much in the way of promos or vignettes, and most of the matches were solid. Cody's was a bit of a squash which is a shame because I like him, but I suppose it helps further him as a threat. The main event was great fun, and the dark match following was a great "send the crowd home happy" moment, especially with Rey Mysterio pumping the crowd and leading them in chants whenever he wasn't in the ring. I'm glad I went and I'm glad everyone else seemed to enjoy it as well.

That was the best I have been to so far. Last time I went my seat didnt exist and had to stand for two hours but this time it was unforgetable and my kids reallly enjoyed themselves.

We bought WWE tickets for our kids (ages 6 &10) and they loved it. My only complaint was the price of drinks, snow cones, etc. It was a gigantic money pit. The tickets were well worth it though.

WWE should not advertise wrestlers that aren't going to be there. Rey Mysterio Jr. was advertised and not there . Try explaining that to your 7 yr. old who was there to see his hero!!

    wwe smackdown show

by Anonymous on 3/15/11i wireless Center - Moline

Me and my husband have been to several wwe live shows but this was the first time we took our kids to a live event. It was an okay show there were some dissapointing matches but overall was a good show. One thing I wanted to add to my review was we stayed in the back parking lot for over an hour and not one wwe superstar came over and greeted us nor would sign an autograph my kids were a little upset that they could not meet or get an autograph from one of the wrestlers I think next time there is a show there they should set up an autograph session for the fans I know it would mean the world to most of the kids that are fans of the wwe the only person that came over and greeted the fans was the referee justin which moline is his hometown. It was very nice of him to come over take pictures and sign autographs for the fans and like I said not ONE wwe superstar even came over and greeted us the would give a quick wave and that was it people like us that know they come around once a year here I really think there should be an autograph session for the fans to meet and get picture with some of the wwe superstars
