Absolutely loved the performance! Will definitely go back
The ballet was wonderful as expected. Was most impressed with the palace. What a phenomenal piece of history. Everything ran smoothly including the parking. I was disappointed that there was no printed program. I would have gladly paid for one as I would have liked to have it as a souvenir.
The ballet and music were beautiful. The talent demonstrated on the stage was really terrific. We really enjoyed it. It is too bad we don't have more ballet here in Louisville. The only thing that was problematic was that there were many attendees who were stragglers getting into the theatre at the beginning of the show and after intermission. Our seats were positioned such that one of the partial stairs blocked our view when people were entering the theatre over them to get up higher and around us. Two recommendations: make announcements telling people to go back to their seats at 10 minutes and 5 minutes, and then don't let them enter once the show begins unless at a breaking point. Or let them enter from the top and come down to disturb fewer people.
The sets were good but stage too small for the scenes with all the "swans"on stage leads were competent and give an ok introduction to ballet not more ending was also muddled from the original choreography if you can see this ballet wirh a major regional company do it instead the ticket price is about the same in particular the black swan /white swan were danced the same watch a video of Cynthia Gregory for instance to see the difference ballet is more than 32 fouettes
The performance itself was well done! The costumes were beautiful and the dancing was clean and strong. Unfortunately, some aspects of the theater’s policies detracted from the experience. Patrons were allowed in after the performance had started, which resulted in people standing up in front of us to let the others in. To add to that, some individuals came in late behind us and brought a young (maybe three years old) girl. She talked through most of the performance. Her caretaker tried to keep her voice quiet, but it was distracting. Having an age limit might be better for certain performances. We enjoyed the ballet but would have enjoyed it more without the interruptions.
Beautifully done. Very nice venue. My sister and I loved watching these talented dancers.
Beautiful choreography and costumes. We thoroughly enjoyed this show.
What a beautiful performance and talented group of professionals. So impressive and well worth the price of admission. My whole family loved it and most had never attended a ballet performance before. Thanks so much!
Music, costumes, dancing, and set were all wonderful!
My first ballet and wow! So glad I attended. Ballet dancers are so elegant and athletic!
This was such a treat! Took my teenage daughter to the ballet for the first time and they loved it! The dancing was exquisite and the orchestra was wonderful. The venue needs updating and the seats were pretty shabby. But the production was really fun and we enjoyed our night.
The orchestra played impeccably, every note was perfect. The court Jester was the finest dancer and I believe he would have made a wonderful Prince. The Prince was great at strolling around the stage, picked up his princess wonderfully but there was no point in the ballet where he shone, none! The Princess Swan was gorgeous, fantastically graceful, a beautiful dancer, she commanded the stage. The little swans were fabulous, almost always in sync and made the ballet unforgettable. The costumes were fantastic, the stage, gorgeous. I loved it.
It was amazing! a combination of wonderful music and wonderful dancers! wonderful costumes and scenery. This is a must see!
Wonderful dancers and choreography with stunning costumes!
After reading the goal of the World Ballet was to bring "culture"to those not having access to premier performances. This met that goal. Very lack luster. The person in the role of the Court Jester was the only one with talent.
My first ballet (age 72) or 18 real birthdays. Was born on Leap Years day, so this was a treat to myself on this special day! I also brought my 12 year old granddaughter, thinking she might not like it, but I was wrong! She had been to school and had lacrosse practice after, but stayed awake for it all, and asked to come back next year. Loved the costumes, backdrops, the amazing ballerinas, and the live orchestra. Can’t wait for the next time!
The Swan Lake Ballet performance by World Ballet Co. was exquisite in every way! I splurged on the type of ticket I chose to experience the ballet in the best possible way. My seat was Orchestra Center and I was pleased about location…until by just bad luck a very tall man sat directly in front of me. Because the seat is not offset from row ahead I needed to lean either left or right to see, inhibiting ability to have full view of the stage. The other areas of disappointment were not with the performance but of the venue allowing refreshments into the theater. The crinkles of candy wrappers, rustling of popcorn boxes, and drinks being opened, hoisted and spilled were quite distracting. The main annoyances came from patrons being seated a full 40 minutes and more into the performance. Never have I seen this allowed in a professional “theater” setting. Having to stand up, move out of my expensive seat, have a group of six climb over me, spill their wine and popcorn all over, all the while talking to each other debating which seat is whose. Late comers should be held at the back of the house or remain in the lobby until the end of the act. Once the curtain goes up, all further seating should be prohibited until
The venue was great, parking was a breeze, Finding the seats was okay due to traffic making us late. But the show was fabulous. My grand-daughter (age 19) enjoyed it as well.
The show was good, but they left out two of the main dance parts. Plus there was only recorded music not live. My wife knows this ballet by heart and has seen the Bolshoy Theater in Moscow in RF. This one was a nice attempt to do it, but was such a letdown not seeing the main dances and canned music.
My wife and i wanted to see our 1st live arts show so we chose the swan lake ballet. It did not disappoint it was a great show. We cannot wait to see the next one.
